Love the trees and bamboos. Love the nature and surroundings.
We really liked the size of this resort and friendliness of all of the staff. The times offered for the shuttle between resorts was limited unless you wanted to hire a taxi. We were also told that you could snorkel off the the beach which turned out to not be true. Communication needs some work. Overall stay was excellent and rooms have been recently updated and very comfortable. Food choices were great and delcious!!
I've been fortunate to travel several places. No doubt about the staff at this Sandals resort incredible. Every staff member I communicated with appreciated us being there. Went above my expectations.
Over all was great. The Internet was not good at all and the a/c was not good at all.
Just a wonderful place for our 25th anniversary trip. Absolute paradise. The resort met all our expectations. Would definitely return. We had a great rime. The food was simply great.
First time staying at an all inclusive, booked it based on price/value. Recommend for travelers looking to just relax and not venture away from a resort atmosphere. Food and drinks were good, nice variety, but I felt like I was going to a catered wedding each night. My husband loved it, but everything seemed too 'planned' or generic for me. (I'm a little more adventurous.) We stayed in a honeymoon hideway, club level, 500 building. Not much noise from the 'highway' behiend the resort, but would not want to stay in one of the buildings closer to it. Sandals definetly takes care of their guests, we didn't wait long for the shuttle from the airport and all of our needs were taken care of. Of the three Sandals on St Lucia, the Halcyon is the most quaint and quiet, which I enjoyed. We enjoyed the water sports-mostly hobey cat sailing. Staff was friendly and helpful. They seemed surprised when we wanted to go up to Rodney Bay by ourselves via taxi. They prefer guests to go on guided tours. I'd go back for the right price.
Everything about this vacation was the best vacation experience of my life. Every amenity was within short walking distance and transportation to the other Sandals resorts and island were very convenient. The hotel staff was fantastic, the grounds were excellent and food was plentiful and very good!
Our experience at this hotel was great. I am a very particular person, so good ratings are hard to come by in my book! The service was superb; the staff was incredibly accommodating and available to serve your every need and answer every question. The grounds were lush and immaculate. There was a wide variety of activities in which to partake during the day. Our room (a Honeymoon Hideaway Poolside Walk-Out) was modern and always clean. Towel service came twice a day. The food was very good. Even though it is a smaller, secluded resort, we never got bored and enjoyed the quiet, laid-back atmosphere. The only small downside was that the beach was just so-so - it's not very wide, and the hotel staff were constantly working to keep it clean from all of the debris. However, you have exchange privileges with the other Sandals hotels on the island, and the Sandals Grande is said to have an excellent beach (our stay was so short that we didn't make it there). I would definitely recommend the Sandals brand and this resort in particular!
This place was absolutely the best! We celebrated 25 years here, and purchased their additional Renewal of Vows package. The package was a bit pricey, but the experience and ceremony were top notch. The resort itself is the quietest of the 3 located in St Lucia and just what we preferred. If you are still young and into the total party scene, then the Grande or Le Toc might be better for you, but being that we are "slightly" older :) we went with Halcyon and couldn't ask for better. There were still plenty of events and activities to enjoy without all the drunken craziness (although there WAS plenty of drinking!!). So about the resort: 4 restaurants to choose from, and of the 3 on-island resorts I have to say this place had the best food! Italian, Seafood/Mediterranean, Japanese teppanyaki, and a buffet. Seafood/Med place was absolutely fabulous, best Filet Minot on the island. The buffet for breakfast had so many choices you couldn't go wrong, and the food was actually so well prepared it was delicious. No food sitting out for hours drying and crusty. Italian had a terrific antipasto with tons of choices, but the meal was just OK in my book. I did not however have pasta and that was their specialty so you'll have to try that for yourself. Finally the Japanese place...the only one where reservations were required, dress was evening casual (gentlemen required to wear long pants and collared shirt), and it was your typical cooking on the grill in front of you while performing a show. Food was excellent, sushi was even better! Lots of fun, but then we had a great table of loud, fun friends we'd met. Activities were too numerous to mention but some things about the water sports: Sailing, Kayaking, Paddle-boats, Wind Surfing, Water Skiing, and Wake-boarding available. Daily scuba diving and snorkeling available, all of these listed at no cost and all equipment included if needed (you may choose to bring your own). The only thing about the diving and snorkeling is that they were done off-resort so a shuttle is provided to bring you to a dive shop 10 minutes away to bring you to the locations. Not an issue for us and the snorkeling was beautiful! Pool activities, games, and volleyball, the fun never ended. Pools were huge and well-maintained. Hot tubs were a luxury worth indulging in. Now on to the beauty of Sandals. Their motto, "Stay at one, use them all", so you guessed it, you get to eat, water-sport, use the beach and do any activities at all 3 resorts. Complimentary shuttles run every 2 hours to all three resorts and from the Halcyon (which is in the middle of the three) it is a mere 15 minutes to either resort. So all told, you get to choose from 20 restaurants for a meal. The Grande includes para-sailing at no cost and their diving and snorkeling leave right from their own dock. So was their anything missing from this vacation? Not a thing. I can think of nothing else that Sandals could have provided that would have made this even better. There were locals walking up and down the beach trying to sell their wares, but no pressure at all, and they left you alone when asked (can't say the same for many other Caribbean islands). We vacationed at a Breezes in the past (also all-inclusive) and did not received half the fun, glamour, and delicious food that Sandals offers. From the staff to the rooms, from the food to the activities, this place was a gem. We have already pre-booked our next vacation at Halcyon so that should speak volumes.
resort was small and quaint but grounds were beautiful and staff was amazing.
We booked the standard Deluxe Honeymoon room and were surprised to receive a complimentary upgrade to a beachfront room! The staff couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. The food was amazing, and every day we were faced with picking from 17 restaurants! Our waitress even brought a cake for us to eat in our room to celebrate the occasion! The grounds were meticulously maintained and the surroundings are a memory we will always cherish. This was our first stay at a Sandals all inclusive, and will definitely not be the last. Our Anniversary couldn't have been better!!!
This was a wonderful smaller resort that was not too crowded. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and most of the staff were very friendly. They were friendlier here than at another resort we also stayed at. Many of the guests spent most of their time around the pool so very few people were at the beach. The water activities were never crowded so we could do any activity whenever we wanted. Water activities are open from 9 am - 4 pm. Really enjoyed kayaking around a small private island each morning and swimming along the beach. The beach area is roped off to prevent people from going to far out. Wasn't sure I liked it at first but turned out to be fine. Each night there was a band that played until about 10 pm then all was fairly quiet. There are shuttles between the three Sandals properties so we visited another Sandals resort( The Grande) for comparison and it was too big for our liking. Sandals Halcyon is the perfect place for people wanting smaller crowds without all the glamor. We would have liked to have taken a taxi to Rodney Bay to see the Unicorn as well as to walk around the shops but we did not have enough time. Rodney Bay looks like a cute place to spend a few hours visiting. Highly recommend the 4 hour super snorkeling trip offered through Sandals. Sign up near stage at main pool. It was well worth the very reasonable price. On the way back after snorkeling a pod of dolphins swam alongside the boat which was truly amazing to see. The captain circled the boat many times to stay with pod. Overall a very relaxing low key vacation and we would love to go back.
We loved the beach and the food was really good.Nice resort although not very big and for the good restaurants you had to reserve. The resort is about an hour and fifteen minutes from the airport. One thing that needs to be improved is the cleanliness of the room, they clean just the bed and change towels, no deep cleaning.
We took advantage of all the amenities of the hotel. It was excellent all the way around. We had never been to a resort like this before, but this location exceeded our expectations.
Very relaxing, VERY scenic. Not the biggest Sandals resort, but that was a big draw to us. 15 minute shuttle to/from either of the bigger 2 Sandals on the island. Of the 3, Halcyon was noticeably more peaceful than the other 2. The dining was great.
Staff made sure all our needs were taken care of so we could concentrate on relaxing and enjoying ourselves. This was a very romantic vacation for us - great trip!
Wife and I had fun at hotel. Staff was great. The coffee pot in room did not work, fixed second day. Shampoo had to ask, delivered nextday. Room should have been checked before arival in room. Planes another story. could not reserve seats untill contact orbitz, then on last flight to chicago and cleveland seats changed for some reason. I have a problem with knee and people with suits are very inconsiderate on planes.r
We chose the Halcyon for our honeymoon based on other reviews about the size and atmosphere of the resort. They were not wrong! It is the smallest Sandals on St. Lucia, and has a very quiet atmosphere, great for a honeymoon or other romantic getaway. If you are looking for a larger resort with more options I would choose the Grand, or more of a party atmosphere choose the Regency. Take advantage of the shuttle between the resorts for dinner. The Halcyon has 3 restaurants, but a 15 minute ride to the other Sandals gives you many more dining options. The activites offered on the resort are great, including the free watersports; snorkeling, water skiing, kayaks, and sailing. We took a free lesson one day and were able to go sail a hobbie-cat the rest of the week whenever we wanted. They do have an activites desk to book other excursions, and we took a catamaran day trip and enjoyed every minute of it. There are evening activities as well to keep you busy and we really enjoyed the steel drum band. The staff is all very friendly and want to make sure you have a good time. The resort does need a little bit of updating, but it's nothing that cannot be overlooked, and some minor repairs, such as painting, were going on while we were there. We reserved a garden view room, and do wish it would have had a mini-bar or fridge with water and soda like some of the ocean view rooms did. Overall it was a great trip at a quiet, laid back resort!
We stayed at Sandals Halcyon for our honeymoon for 7 nights. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful! We had an amazing view of the ocean as soon as we walked out of our room in the morning and a great view of the sunset at night! The choices of restaurants were plentiful seeing that you can visit the other two Sandals hotels whenever you wanted. You must eat at La Toc, a French restaurant at Sandals Regency! It was hands down, our favorite dinner of the week! The Halcyon is the quieter of the three Sandals which we enjoyed. We would recommend staying at Halcyon and visiting the Grande and the Regency if you want a more "Spring Break" like atmosphere during the day. Two other "must-dos" are the Soufriere Adventure Cruise where you travel by sea on a catamaran to Soufriere to see a drive-in volcano, the Botanical Gardens and waterfall, grab lunch at a restaurant in town, and then back to the boat for some snorkeling fun. Also, you must take advantage of the complimentary 15 minute photo shoot at the hotel. We did ours at sunset and the pictures came out amazing! Jeannine was our photographer and got amazing angles and shots of the sunsetting behind us! Definitely worth the time and money to spend on the pictures! If you like to sing, visiting the piano bar is a must from 10pm until 3am. You sing along while the "Piano Man" plays songs you request. If you stay at Sandals Halcyon, make sure you visit Rasta Charlie and Ninja on the beach by the sunset pool! The are local vendors with great personalities and handmade gifts!
My husband and I have never been out of the country so we decided to go to the Caribbean. His parents always went to Sandals resorts in Jamaica and loved them so we decided to try one at St. Lucia. Out of the 3 resorts the Halcyon is definitely the most intimate and romantic. It's much smaller than the Grande and Regency but it was just beautiful and has everything you need. The food and staff was just amazing. I have absolutely nothing to complain about! It was wonderful.
