Not overlooked. The thick stone walls of the Pont du Gard associated with the pergola maintain a freshness in the house all day. Restaurants, cafe/bar, post office and deli are all within walking distance as well as the small local market which takes place once a week. Amenities and services included: End of stay cleaning is included. Complies with the UNPLV COVID-19 Health Protocol in partnership with O² Care Services. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, induction hob, electric oven and microwave. A robot is at your disposal. The dining table seats 6 people. In the living room you find a comfortable sofa. A large screen "Smart TV" television allows you to benefit from the owner's Canal Plus subscription with a large choice of French and international channels. You can also access your possible personal subscriptions (Netflix, Deezer, others, etc.). ) by logging in with your personal identifiers A selection of games is available to you: Monopoly, Scrabble, playing cards, etc. Behind the living room, under the stairs is a WC. On the upper floor are two bedrooms, each with new high-end bedding and a bathroom. The first bedroom has a 160 x 200 cm bed. Its bathroom offers a large walk-in shower, a sink and a toilet. The second bedroom has two 90 x 200 cm beds which can form a single 180 x 200 cm bed. Its bathroom offers a spacious walk-in shower and a sink. One of the bedrooms has a radio/MP3 player.
Outside, the pergola offers shade all along the house. You can take the opportunity to drink an aperitif or taste local products. In a more relaxed spirit, read or sunbathe, lying on a deckchair lulled by the song of the cicadas... Alongside the house is a garage area housing the central heating boiler, washing machine, 2 bicycles, etc. It is not possible to park in the garage, however, there is always room just alongside the wall of the house.
Castillon is a much sought after village with many of the houses dating from the 18th century and also made of the local Vers Pont du Gard golden stone. The buildings come alive in the sunset as the limestone turns a beautiful colour.
It is a perfect to leave the property and wander on foot to take in the history of the village and the old ramparts, the pretty cobbled streets, the roman chapel and the church tower. There is a superb view of the Pont du Gard, the roman aqueduct that is now listed as a World Heritage Centre. You can see this from the pathway behind the church where they play petanque.

Best ever
We've rented many properties in France through VRBO. Not all of them are as good as they were described. This is the one that exceeds the description by some way. The quality of the property is very high, the furniture the fixtures and fittings, the equipment, the location - everything is excellent. A key indicator to me was the quality of the kitchen knives (the cooking ones). Normally they are blunt, broken and fairly useless. Not here - I found myself wishing I had the same knives.
The location is indeed very quiet as is the entire village. Which is also the best one we've encountered in France. What a gorgeous little place it is. Stunning views, wonderful architecture and excellent places to eat. And if that's not enough for you then within a few minutes drive there is even more choice.
The nearby town of Uzés is wonderful and the market truly staggering. The range of produce is almost impossible to take in.
However the real stars of the show were the owners, Nathalie and Jean Marc, who were very helpful with our delayed arrival (bouchon on the A9!) as we could not contact the property host Pascale. We spent some time with them and their friends and family, and more genial and generous hosts would be hard to find.
Castillon du Gard has made a lasting and deep impression on us for its beauty, the climate and the welcoming and open nature of the people.
Even the mosquitoes came out in force to welcome us :-)
A fabulous property with wonderful owners.

July in the Rhone Valley
The house is modern and quietly situated in a superb medieval village location, just 4 kms from the Pont du Gard. Only 5 kms from good grocery, pharmacy, etc. shopping and about 40 minutes to Avignon.
Wish there was air cconditioning, but that's unusual in France.
Also, an English instruction booklet for the stove and oven, and tv setup would be appreciated.

A MONTH IN PROVENCE
WE CONSIDER OUR SELVES LUCKY TO HAVE STAYED AT THIS LOCATION IN PROVENCE. THE PICTURE OF THE PROPERTY AND THE LISTING ARE ACCURATE. MANAGEMENT, LOCATION AND COMMUNICATION WITH THE MANAGEMENT WAS EXCELLENT. THE PROPERTY IS IN A QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE CLEANLINESS OF THE PROPERTY WAS EXCEPTIONAL. IF WE HAD A PROBLEM IT WAS RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY BY MANAGEMENT. THE LOCATION IS EXCELLENT FOR EXPLORATION OF PROVENCE. CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY IF YOU RENT THIS PROPERTY.

Wonderful stay
The house has been renovated to a high standard with all the mod cons, very comfortable beds and stylish furniture. Jean-Marc and Nathalie were easy to contact and very responsive to any requests or concerns. We had a wonderful, relaxing week and explored local areas including getting a canoe down the river from Collias which we would highly recommend. There is a large Carrefour supermarket on the way to Uzes and another in Remollins which has everything needed for a self catering holiday. We had a car rental which we picked up after arriving by train and overnighting in Nimes but also walked to Vers one day and managed to get the bus back to Castillion du guard. There are bikes provided (no helmets though) and the area is great for cycling. We would highly recommend and stay again.

Wunderschöner Familienurlaub in Castillon-du-Gard

Allez-y!
