This a typical 3 star hotel built a long time ago. It is well located in the center of the town. If you go by car, there is a small parking in front of the hotel or you can park a little bit further down the road. It has a big reception area with WiFi. This is the only area where WiFi is available, as the rooms have no connection. The rooms are simple but clean. The furniture is from somewhere the 20th century but was ok. Even though it's a 3 star hotel, back dated, but relative clean, the hotel should consider to change the carpets of the rooms as they are really old and done. Breakfast was included. The variety is limited. The service was slow as a lot of times the quantity of breakfast items were finished and we had to ask several times to top up the items otherwise there would be nothing to eat. In general the hotel is good, especially the location. It's simple with no major issues. The what lower rating was due to the carpets that need to be changed and for for the quality of the breakfast and service. All the rest was good.
This is an outdated property, with very unfriendly staff. Free Wifi in lobby only, just like Cuba in 1990....Free breakfast with not too much choice and worst coffe do far in Portugal. Dead bug on the wall, very uncomfortable bed. This is a 2 star hotel, not 3.
Another hotel in CdV which is urgently needing renewal. Everything looks used and slightly spent. Common areas could easily be redefined to be more welcoming. Excellent outside terrace and swimming pool to cool the hot summer days. Rooms needimg upgrading. HOTEL LOCATION on tripadvsisor map is incorrect. The hotel is within the village perimeter immediatly befor the School NOT halfway on the road going out to Spain.
Personnel was friendly and the price was good. Breakfast wasn't that good, but the hotel has an nice older, classical portugese interior. Tv was very small but the balcony had a great view. It was quiet and clean, but in our room one light didn't work.
No reservation, looking for another hotel recommended by TripAdvisor after sunset, decided to check in here. Parking right in front, given room with a view of the church bathed in light up on the mountain. Just what we needed after the drive from Porto. Rooms not luxurious but serviceable and the breakfast was good, especially for the price. Walking distance to downtown square and the castle.
This was our first trip to Portugal and what a charming hotel and city. The hotel was in a great location and within walking distance of everything the town had to offer. The front desk staff spoke good English and were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Because of their suggestions, we were able to visit Fatima as well as Tomar during our brief stay. The rooms were clean and quiet. The restaurant was ok, but comparable to what the town's other restaurants had to offer.
This small city is amazing!!!! Hotel is very cute, room was clean and authentic. No hairdryer. The view from our room was breathtaking. Staff was very kind and breakfast was good. Very close to the castle and the center. If you are travelling without a guide, dont belive to google maps, the address is not correct. Search for Estrada de S. Vicente street, and the hotel is next to Parque Joao José da Luz!!!!
I've booked this hotel as a 3 days stop over on the way back from our main vacations on the South, to explore the region of North Alentejo which was unknown to me. However, what should have been the perfect ending to our holidays ended being an awful experience. I was literally counting the days to get out of that unbearable hotel. It's really a shame that such wonderful region of Alentejo be so misrepresented. Like the title says, my personal experience with this hotel was plain awful. Arguably, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The room had a nauseous smell that could not be suppressed even after having all windows open for a couple of hours. Once closed, the smell would come back to you after a short while. I managed to find its source. The blackout curtains which had a rubber backing were decomposing or aging (the hotel is old and it seems they were never changed since then), the effect being intensified due to the intense direct sun light of summer sunny days. The best I can think of to describe that unbearable smell is like having a pile of old tires decaying on a stuffy room. After a night sleep you invariably wake up with a blocked nose. Moreover, the whole wing smelled alike when entering the access corridors which confirmed it being a generalized problem. Asking for a new room on a fully booked hotel would be a lost cause. Other downsides of the hotel: - Most basic furniture one could think of, certainly not on pair with a 3* hotel. Seemed like obtained from a flea market - Poor breakfast with little to no choices. Marginal quality on most products - Small pool and dirty water on the kids pool. Even my small child said that she didn't want to use the pool anymore, after her first try - So-called private parking was a complete joke since anybody had access to it. No one controlling the access whatsoever. Finding available places from late afternoon was very difficult since guests from other hotels or even the general public would use it at will (the main reason I choose this hotel over others was because of its alleged private parking. I felt ripped off almost upon arrival). Moreover, the hotel's "private" parking at the back felt abandoned and insecure because of its poor illumination, broken bottles on the pavement and nearby walls painted with graffiti. Certainly not inspiring much confidence. I made all efforts to park always at the front of the hotel, even if it meant waiting for a while for an available spot and arriving not too late on the afternoons. - Slow and unstable WiFi (only available at the hotel reception) - Not possible to pay by debit card or any electronic means whatsoever. Just cash. Unthinkable nowadays! - Ridiculously small TV (19'' or 20" CRT). Not that I value much such things but could be relevant to others. Trying to watch a program lying on the beds, 5 to 6 m away, feels most ridiculous. You can't barely read the subtitles To resume, due to the discomforting smell I only stayed in the premisses for the shortest time possible and went on car trips or visit the town as long as I could. Luckily, it was "only" a 3 nights stay but 1 already felt too much. The highlight of my stay was on the day I leaved! I would definitely classify this hotel as a low grade 2*, if not lower.
I stayed at the Serra Golf Hotel in July 2013. The hotel is modest but elegant with very helpful and friendly staff. The food for breakfast was always fresh and the variety excellent. Rooms were a tad small but we were given a special deal which more than made up for that. Views from the back are not so hot but the front of the hotel is better. Small pool for relaxing and very close to to town centre, 2 minute walk through the park. Wifi was weak and only available in reception.
The accommodations are quaint, with an "old town" flavor... rooms still equipped with regular keys and rotary phones. Everything is very clean, quiet and a short walk from the town's restaurants and attractions. Parking is free (spaces available in front of the hotel, or directly behind it). The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful; they offered up directions within the city and to close-by locations. We did not make use of the pool since we only stayed one night, but it did look tempting... Considering a price of 42 euro for 4 people (including continental breakfast), the value was more than satisfactory. A great choice for a stay in Castelo de Vide!
