Hotel Cardenal Ram3.0 out of 5.0

This a very OK 3-star hotel with a good location in a very fasinating town. You have to park your car some distance away from the hotel and outside the town wall. Most of the staff do not speak English. We had half board but he choice of dishes for dinner at the hotels restaurant was not to out liking at all. But fortunately there are several fine restaurants in the neighbourhood. They don't serve breakfast until 08:30, so we had to skip that to reach our next destination as planned. This is not acceptable for a hotel based on tourists who are always on the move to the next destination.
Great hotel in the old part of Morella. The building is beautiful. The room is rather spacious and so is the bathroom. The service is not that personal but correct. We had dinner in the restaurant which is nicely decorated. Dinner was tasteful. Breakfast is good.
We only stayed a night as we were just visiting Morella. The hotel is very pretty, the staff are very pleasant and helpful and the room we stayed in was spacious and clean, with a nice modern bathroom. Would definitely go back as we didn't have the chance to eat at the restaurant this time, but also as it was Festa Major it wasn't as peaceful as we had imagined. Luckily the sturdy windows blocked out most of the street noise and we had a great night's sleep in spite of all the partying outside. To sum up, a lovely place we'd definitely return to!
The hotel building is beautiful and is located on the main street of this stunning town. The room was big and comfortable. Good A/C and bathroom. The problem with this hotel is that is feels a bit sterile. The staff were all a bit off-hand but I think they were just tired as the same people were there for the 2 days we stayed there. Each night we had to find somebody to serve a drink in the bar. Although the entrance lounge is big, there is very little seating. The breakfast was average for a hotel of this calibre. Overall the hotel is very good and comfortable but doesn't quite deliver. There are lots of restaurants and bars near the hotel and the town itself is lovely.
We decided at the last minute to visit Morella, which is roughly an hour from the coast. We arrived a bit late in the day, and just about everything was closed - so ended up eating at the hotel restaurant, which was pretty good. The rooms made me want to sing tunes from the sound of music - lovely views of the town, birds flying, gorgeous scenery. For the money, it was excellent value in a lovely setting. The hotel is on the main street but nothing was open as it's a bit early in the season, which is too bad. I think the summer it would be a real experience. You have to park outside the city walls, but the walk is only about 5 minutes.
Very nice interior in this small boutique hotel, you feel like in a castle thrown back into the medieval times. Very nice service, clean and large rooms, separate bathroom, ideal for a pleasant weekend in the middle of this ancient town. Breakfast buffet will be served. Google maps just is lost in Morella, better to ask locals or park outside the city walls and walk to the hotel. The restaurant is all in this ancient wooden style, very nice, unfortunately the dinner was a bit cold, we expected a bit more for the price
Hotel in a good location although the tortuous route through the Morella one way system is somewhat trying by car. The room was comfortable with a modern bathroom. The town was a bit dead because it was a Monday evening so we had the hotel's Menu del Dia which was very good although the dining room was rather empty.
Lovely small hotel in a stunningly beautiful town. Plenty to do, lots to see, and very nice people. The hotel however does not seem to get the degree of difficulty involved with actually driving to the hotel. The streets are impossibly narrow and steep and windy. Some streets you need a code to open mechanical barriers - and where do you get that??? The staff in the hotel are clueless about giving directions (even in Spanish) and then they go and direct you to a street that is blocked off and do not offer the code to get onto it (which they have and could easily do). Very frustrating and dangerous the way the tiny streets are arranged. The good news the parking is free: the bad news, there is none without a steep climb from the hotel - or on the other side of the village. All this is manageable, of course, but after a long day of driving do not attempt this in the dark - drag someone from the hotel to ride with you to get to the parking area.
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was comfortable and very good value for money. The rooms and beds were lovely and the service was good on the whole. The only let down for this one was that the hot food was a bit cold. The food was mixed generally. Some of it was great and some of it was so-so. The breakfast was a bit sparse and not very inventive. It was buffet style and perhaps needed a bit of topping up. It wasn't awful - it just wasn't great - things like the bread was dry so could only be eaten toasted.
There was nothing ordinary about our lunch at this hotel. Sitting comfortably on a terrace with a great view, we had the most amazing food: great quality, beautiful presentation, all modestly priced. Our waiter Fabian delivered exceptional customer service: professional, personable and attentive. We left mightily impressed. Highly recommended.
