A wonderful part of Costa Rica with beautiful scenery. I traveled with a large group so I will try to reflect the general sentiment. First, let me say the property has HUGE potential and the employees are very kind hearted. The property is run down. We had to move rooms due to NO WIFI and mildew. The first room (the honeymoon suite) had a porch and the furniture was covered with bat poop. High end toiletries were promised and all we got was a shampoo sample and one small soap. Two towels, no hand towels, no wash clothes. The water was even turned off. We asked for another room. The second room did not smell. However, we did need to request towels, the ceiling fan is VERY small and shook violently. Two of the pillows smelled horrible, as if no bleach is used. One friend checked in next door and had NO shower fixtures. NONE, They were torn from the shower, Another couple we know had NO screen on their patio door. There is NO AC, so you want the door open. The food was bland but average overall. The pool was lovely, my wife enjoyed her message, but the staff was not there at the designated time. At this stage, I can NOT recommend the property. But, the potential is HUGE.
The place and the rooms are really nice, but the service was not going at all. The receptionist told me that our package includes two beverages but in the restaurant the waitress told me it was just one. The service in the restaurant is too slow, try to avoid it. Since the service is not good, I won't recommend this place for weddings. Don't buy the packages with food included. They will give a small menu with very few options. They served us a salad that wasn't fresh and when we told the waitress, she didn't offered to change it or even said sorry. The service in the spa is great. Take a massage if you can.
Stayed 1 night on our trip to Cartago, we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant since the road was to lonely and set away from downtown, once arrived at the restaurant the waitress was very unfamiliar with the menu, unable to provide suggestions or details of the meal, plus 3 of my selection were out of stock, the food was very expensive if we compare it to the quality of it, although the hotel was very relaxing and had a peaceful environment, the room was perfect, also the people at front desk were very kind and helpful,
Tucked away in a rain forest close to the town of Orosi is the most wonderful hotel. The Rio perlas is a place for complete relaxation far from the maddening crowds. The rooms are housed in bungalows, are spacious and well appointed. The restaurant is a short walk through beautifully maintained gardens and offers a great menu. The pool is full of warm thermal water from an underground river and area is sunny with a bar.
We stayed here 2 nights on our road trip through Costa Rica. We were checked in quickly by Francis and our luggage was brought by the van to our room. The first night we stayed in a master suite and the second night in a wood cabin. The suite was not 100% clean with dust in the corner of the bedroom and in the wood cabin we had some uninvited insects, but this can happen in a fully wooden cabin. The hot pool was great for us as a family. The other pool was under construction. Breakfast was good with enough options and of course gallo pinto. We did not use the restaurant other then breakfast. The grounds of the hotel are well maintained and it is a pleasure for the eye to walk around. The river is going through the property. We can fully recommend this hotel for families. We had our own car with us so it was easy to leave for excursions during the day, if you don't have a car you will depend on others or you need to walk a few km to the main road.
after a long ride from Sierpe we arrived at rio perlas. check-in was very easy and they were helpful with bringing luggage to our room which was quite far away from the office and main entrance. the room was clean but the whole resort is quite old. there were a lot of animals in the room (on the floor), spiders in the bathroom and a lot of bugs in the restaurant (even on the table). food was ok but very expensive - we had much better experience in other parts of costa rica and especially cheaper!!
Stayed here for one night and it was beautiful! The room we had was huge! Beautiful hard wood floors, very old fashion looking! We took the van the restaurant which had stunning ceilings and architecture. My partner had the surf and turf and I pasta, bother were outstanding! Breakfast was just as good with savory and sweet foods. Around the area were multiple walking trails and endless things to do. The hot spring was wonderful, and had a very clean bathroom/shower area next to it. Also went to the spa, great prices, great service and a beautiful/relaxing environment. Now the wifi it very scare but you are on top of a mountain and there is so much more to do there than look at your phone. The front desk girl was incredibly helpful with things to do at the hotel as well as the area. Would stay again, great for a romantic getaway!
We went just for lunch. If the rest of the services are like it...don't take the chance. Yes, location is nice, if you go only for a walk. Other tables were rejecting the plates as we did, the fish and pork were almost raw, and we ask for it twice.
This is the kind of place that has already seen its golden years... The location is great lots of nature really beautiful scenery, you can see lots birds and trees, which is great. I recommend the "Mountain view Suite" because you get that feeling of being somehow isolated, the rooms/suites are clean and well organised although they look dated, as the rest of the hotel/spa. There is no WiFi, except in the lobby and its surroundings, the staff at the lobby I assume is not interested in getting feedback because I was not even asked how my stay was, maybe because I don't look like the foreign kind of tourist. My biggest issue was with the restaurant IMHO terrible and expensive, the menu is really limited and the quality of the food was not worth it, we tried several meals at lunch and dinner and we were disappointed. The Breakfast, which was included in the tariff, was cold, the orange "juice" was definitely one of those powders you mix with water, it was terrible (and other guests were talking about it too!), only the coffee was good. Overall I'd say is not a good place given the fact that is around 100£ per night, but the scenery, location, and if you manage to get other food options, it could be somehow a good experience.
This is a great resort! There are pods of cabanas along the walk to the resort pool and on up to the restaurant/bar. Their pool was very warm mid 90's (?) and beautiful. They have a lovely stream coming down from the pool that is quite picturesque. The Wi-Fi was spotty and you needed to be close to the office to access it. We had two dinners and two breakfasts there and they were very good. The bar was very comfortable and our group had plenty of room to socialize and they were quite accommodating. The setting of this resort is great and offers plenty to see just strolling the property. There were quite a few varieties of birds while we were there. There is a quaint pond behind the restaurant that was a great spot to take photos complete with a waterfall and a cabin like structure.
