While visiting the area with some clients I had occasion to visit this restaurant for our evening meal. I arrived without making a reservation and even so I was very well received. I had six customers plus myself and on a busy evening I was really glad of the manner we were treated. Food was superb and service excellent. The place was in excellent condition and overall it was an excellent choice. I can certainly recommend this restaurant.
Stayed here recently for one night and have to say it was excellent. The room was immaculate with an great shower, breakfast was great with plenty of options, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall an enjoyable stay.
I am delighted to let this secret out of the bag! The Butterbean rooms are better than many hotels, a great deal cheaper and a lot more personal. There is a decent sized TV with all the channels and the shower is Rolls Royce with lashing of hot water and twin heads. Beds are comfortable and there is plenty of space to move about or sit and read. The Butterbean is disabled friendly, modern and spotlessly clean. It is a former bank. The restaurant is well appointed with decent-sized tables and comfortable chairs. The staff are welcoming and the service is fast. The menu is comprehensive and not overpriced by any means. Food is freshly cooked and I was delighted with my battered cod. No this was no ordinary fish supper but something very special, cooked in a light batter and the chips are hand-cut and in a league of their own. Haven't had the like of them for years! The meal was served with a salad garnish which was something worth mentioning for its taste and freshness. My wife chose a pastry-based vegetarian meal with garlic fries and again it was beautifully presented and wholesome. Drinks were modestly priced and definitely not over the top. For breakfast we had the full Irish fry which was ten piece including fries. Served on hot plates and fresh thickly sliced brown bread at the top end of the quality scale. Brilliant. Tea and coffee was good and again service was superb. Like the rooms the restaurant is spotlessly clean, open plan but with a sense of privacy. This is a place we will stay again and bring away very happy memories of our two nights. It is centrally situated with car parking and within easy walking distance of good pubs and places of entertainment not to mention shops. The Butterbean is family owned and in many ways is home from home. less
This place just ticks all the boxes for a wonderful stay in Inishowen. Such great value for money, excellent food cocktails and top knotch service from all the staff! From the moment we arrived for our 2 night stay we were greeted by the ever so friendly Scott and Paula and Megan. Food was beautiful and rooms really comfortable and clean(beds really comfy too). The breakfast was the best and a great set up for the day. The town is buzzing and we were given great recommendations by Scott to try the Glen bar which was another little gem a few doors down the street. Overall a great friendly experience and we will definitely return! Butterbean keep up the great work👍👍
We were treated to a 3 night stay by friends from the area on our trip from Canada. The rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. Very quiet location. Kevin the owner was very helpful and friendly. More than enough for breakfast served at the times we requested. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent accommodation and very friendly and helpful staff. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious and service very good.A very nice cross section in the dining room including a big table of youngsters and a family group so a nice atmosphere. We are very happy to recommend the Butterbean.
Stayed in the Butterbean again recently. Once more I would strongly recommend it for a stay in this lovely part of the world. The standard of food, cleanliness and quality of the accommodation, and the friendliness of the staff were first class. It is a brilliant base to use from which to travel around this part of Ireland, and/or play golf on world class courses like the nearby Ballyliffin Links. Thanks to all the team in the Butterbean and hopefully see you soon again. Liam G
The Butter bean has a fabulous atmosphere that reflects the staff and food. The cost of food does not represent the portion sizes as they are huge. The most helpful and pleasant place to visit. Would recommend that you have a try.
