The hotel has 2 entrances: 1st) entrances Westgate leads to a lift and is step free entrance 2nd) St Marys Street has stairs whether you walk or get the lift. Reception is on the second floor I was informed on check the hotel can only keep bags till 5pm and you have two pay after 2pm with money going to a local charity. Due to having gold status I got breakfast for free but it was very poor and most of it was cold, bacon looked raw.

No VIP access for silver members

They don’t acknowledge the VIP access which is noted here on Hotels if you’re a silver member or above so we did not get the free breakfast stated in here despite being able to show silver status. We had a room with double windows where you couldn’t open the second window so the room got very humid after showering. Otherwise very standard room - I wouldn’t choose it for more than one night.

The layout of the hotel was certainly differant with reception on the 2nd floor. Air conditioning available if needed. Choice of full English or continental breakfast was good As the hotel is in the middle of the city everything was in walking distance.

This hotel is a bit of a faded beauty queen. It was probably once top notch and gorgeous but is now a bit faded but still a place I would recommend without hesitation. The staff were unfailingly polite and the food was great. The area around is a bit...colorful (think "Rainbow.") Cardiff seems a very open minded city and if this bothers you maybe avoid this place as it is located right in the midst of some businesses that cater to that crowd. However, they kept to themselves and I kept to mine and I enjoyed Wales as I always have.

Lovely breakfast. Comfortable bed. Lovely quiet room facing a very busy street with lots of bars but there was great sound proofing. Easy walking distance from the station and where we needed to be. Lovely staff and would stay again.
