Loved my stay there! Lobby very well decorated! Receptionists are friendly (specially Marta). Pool was really nice! Novotel is far my favorite brand, and this hotel does not disappoint at all! Amazing
The staff was quite helpful. Right from checking in till the check out. Good room service and Good customer service at the reception. Special mention to Giula from the reception desk for helping us with parking !!! Will visit again
My girlfriend and I stayed here on a Saturday night. As has been mentioned quite a bit on here the car parking charges were a bit of a shock at £12 per night, especially considering it's basically just an open space with little security. When you're paying upwards of £100 per night it seemed a bit cheeky. First impressions of the hotel were good however, the receptionist was welcoming and the bar seemed nice. The pool and spa were pretty decent and not too busy when we went. The main problem we had was with the room at night. There was unfortunately some kind of domestic going on a few rooms down which woke us up at about 3am which resulted in the police being called. Obviously the hotel wasn't to blame but the sound proofing really seemed quite poor compared to other hotels. This became really apparent in the morning when we were woken again quite early by children running around in the corridor and doors slamming. The shower wasn't brilliant and kept going from hot to cold and we found a lot of the channels on the TV didn't work, even basic ones like ITV. The room itself was nice though, it was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Upon mentioning our disturbed night when we checked out, the receptionist was very apologetic and offered to waive the parking charge which was a nice gesture. Overall a decent hotel with potential, it just needs better sound proofing and maybe consider getting rid of or at least reducing the parking charges as it's likely to put a lot of people off.
Arrived and was treated with a smile and a welcome. Lady at check in was very informative and set the tone. Family room with sofa bed for 13 year old already put up. Unlike some hotels stayed in previously this was of good quality and bed sheets made very well. Lad said was comfy too. Rest of room very clean with coffee/tea making facilities and a couple of bottles of water in a fridge. Again no card in slot for electricity so water was chilled in fridge. Bonus. On check out two people present so no queue. Sat in reception later and was actually watching the staff. John on reception was so attentive and professional in his manner and approach with everyone. It was so great to see someone who does there work so professional and with a smile. I did congratulate him on this and I think the hotel are very lucky to employ someone who takes pride in their work like him. Will definitely stay here again. Might not be right in the centre but only a 10 minute walk to town.
My husband and I stayed for two nights. The room was clean and bed very comfy. You can control the temp of your room. Breakfast was good. Friendly staff in bar and nice to go back to from a night out. The swimming pool and sauna was a nice addition on a cold day to relax in. We thought the hotel was very good value for money.
Stayed here for the second time 18/1/18 to 20/1/18 really accommodating staff, food was once again really good quality, love this place as it's so central to the bay area and also the city centre, facilities include gym, pool, sauna and jacuzzi all free with your stay, already looking forward to another stay.
Absolutely amazing service and rooms Leisure centre great nice to relax , will definitely be back to stay when next in Cardiff. Rooms big and great price . Will recommend to everyone who plans on visiting Cardiff
I have now stayed her two weeks in a row (separate stays), for business. This hotel could definitely do with some improvement, both to the building and certainly to the service. During my first stay, there was an insect in my bathroom...wholly avoidable and very offputting. During my second stay, my shower didn't work and although it was fixed whilst I was out during the day, it really is unacceptable for a shower not to work and it left me having to take a very hurried flannel wash before an important meeting. The room that I was in for the second stay was also very poor...cold, noisy (you'll be woken at 6.00am by the traffic) and the room (220) seems to pick up all of the noise of the boiler or water system, constantly throughout the day and night. I was and am very disappointed with that. The staff on the front desk were also inconsistent and relatively unfriendly - for example, on checking in, I was told that my check out time was 1700hrs (I am a Platinum accor member), but when I checked on the final day, I was told there was no record of that and that I would be charged £40 if I wanted a late check out (I didn't, but that's not the point). Also, the replenishment of my room (water, shower gel etc) was poor. Room service was good, which helped; but overall, this hotel did not give me a feeling of being a valued customer. I can take my business elsewhere...they could learn from, among other, Novotel Leeds Centre which has been consistently excellent since 2013. I won't be returning to Novotel Cardiff Centre when I next come to Cardiff, I may as well try the Ibis next door. In summary, there are lots of hotels around in Cardiff, try somewhere else rather than here. And I say that as a Platinum member of Accorhotels.
This was my second stay within 3 weeks, the location is perfect 10min walk from central station and town within 5mins, the staff where pleasant good facilities unfornualty steam room was not working due to misuse but that was not hotel's fault. My only vice it was hard to control the temperature of the room, Would stay again.
Having visited Cardiff a few times and staying at a different hotel we decided to stay at the Novotel after a good experience in Birmingham Airport Novotel. The public areas of this hotel are really smart and as half of the hotel is a old warehouse it has a lot of exposed brickwork on show which looks really good. Nice breakfast and the pancake machines a nice addition. We had paid for a executive room, which we got on the second floor over looking the car park. Room was of a good size but did feel a bit bare/basic due to the size After unpacking we realised the safe wasn’t working. So when we went down for a swim we reported it and were told somebody would have a look in a bit (fair enough) After the swim and back in room the safe still wasn’t sorted and no note telling us somebody had looked. After a shower (which flooded the floor as the door wouldn’t close properly on the magnetic seal which joins the door) we got ready and went down to dinner and re asked about it. We were informed it couldn’t be fixed and told we could use the main hotel safe or swap rooms.(we went for the swap rooms option) Next day after our jolly round Cardiff we got back to the room and fancied a coffee(we had a Nespresso machine as part of the executive room) guess what it didn’t work properly, the lights just kept flashing and when uponed up it released steam everywhere. We know how to use one as we have one at home. This one was definitely knackered. The last thing with this room was the shower hose which attached to the bath tap had a massive split and sprayed everywhere. ( Both problems were reported when we checked out as we couldn’t be bothered to do it at the time when we only had the night left) The pool area was nice and the water was a really good temperature which is nice for a change as at so many hotels it is quite cold. Changing rooms maybe on the small size especially when busy. We also used the jacuzzi and the sauna. Unable to use the steam room as yep you guessed it, it was broke! Could be a lovely hotel shame Novotel don’t put as much time/care Into the rooms as they do the public areas.
