Lovely stay ,will go back for sure . Comfortable room, nice room service. We went for a birthday , received us with two slices of cake, the hotel knew we where 3. So I end up nit having a treat. Nice view ,,pool was brilliant girls love it
Stayed for one night in an executive room in the older, nicer, original docks building part of the hotel. The room was huge, very clean, had a separate bath and shower, Nespresso machine and firm but exceptionally comfortable bed. Breakfast was the usual buffet style affair with a good selection of both hot and cold options, even if the breakfast room itself was a rather soulless place. The bar area is very well done and the prices not excessive. The hotel is an easy 10 - 15 walk over the pedestrian railway bridge to the Motorpoint arena, John Lewis and the St David’s Centre. Very friendly and helpful staff, but agree with other comments that the wait and speed of service at reception could be better (why wouldn’t all desks be open at peak checkin times?). However, the real clincher for the 5 star review for us though was the one night stay in an executive room, with breakfast, parking and 2 complimentary drinks at the hotel bar was cheaper than a room only stay at the Cardiff central Premier Inn! On that basis it’s very good value for money and we’d happily recommend it and stay again.
We stayed at this hotel for one night when going to a show at the Motorpoint Arena. Hotel is a 10/15 minute walk from the station and less than 10 minutes if you go across the bridge directly across the road from the Hotel - surprised they haven't put any signs up for the Arena and Shops as the only sign we could see was fro the University Campus. Check in at reception was very slow. In fact every time we went to the front desk there was only ever one member of staff working and there was always a queue. We had booked in online "to save time at check in"as it suggested and whilst when we finally got to the front of the queue we saved the time of having to hand over our credit card, this was minimal considering how long we had already waited. On check out I gave up waiting as we had a train to catch so did fast check out - haven't received the bill yet though so can't confirm it's accuracy. Had lunch in the bar and then a snack later in the evening after the event and on both occasions service and food were very good. Breakfast in the restaurant was the normal buffet you would expect and of good quality. Room was quiet and bed comfortable. If only they could sort out the speed of the front desk by putting more than one member of staff on (there are three desks) then this would have scored much higher.
Travelled to Cardiff for a family weekend getaway and couldn't have asked for better. The reception staff were very welcoming and looked genuine all through. The room was spacious and had all the amenities we required. The location itself is right smack in the city centre. The highlight for me were the staff at the breakfast. We met this lovely pregnant lady(Katya) who was as warm and welcoming as any human can possible be. All in all, i will come back to this hotel over and over again. The lifts can be a little speedy though so may not work for you if you have vertigo. The room doesn't appear to be sound-proofed from the corridors so speech in the corridor travels into the room easily, plus some very excited kids kept running up and down the corridor so it was a bit noisy. That being said, this is a very lovely hotel worth every penny.
a very enjoyable stay, great service, prompt attention and very helpful staff, we had a cheer leading competition and the hotel was close to the venue, second stay now, great on both occassions, really loved the swimming pool and so did both of my daughters, keep it up, see you next year!
Having stayed at many Novotels before this time we were a bit disappointed with this hotel. It had the normal great things, late check out, plenty to choose for breakfast, comfy beds etc but the cleanliness of the bathroom was a let down this time and the staff just didn't seem interested, except the check in team. It might have been that it was pouring with rain and because of this the hotel was very busy as no one was going into Cardiff and choosing to stay in the hotels for the evening I don't know, but something was missing. The food was average and no better than the average pub, but again this might have been because the bar was very busy due to the weather. This experiance will not stop me from using Novotel again, but just a little disappointed with this stay.
Very friendly on the reception desk, but I think the women in the restaurant need to smile more and try to look like they want to be there. There was definitely a language barrier, to say we are in Wales, not one of the staff spoke welsh, and seem to struggle in English! The parking fees are very expensive! £24 for 48 hours!! The childrens buffet in the restaurant is a great idea, and my husband made sure that he and my son ate enough food to cover the car park charge ;) On a positive note, the room was great, and the bed was very comfortable. The pillows are a great idea! Half soft, half firmer!! Had a fabulous family break. Thankyou.
Wonderful hotel, the facilities were excellent and all included in the price of the stay. We enjoyed a lovely swim and sauna, although the pool was busy. The bar was lovely and we enjoyed listening to an acoustic singer before venturing into Cardiff for our night out. The hotel is perfectly situated, just a ten minute walk into the city centre. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of options including lovely fresh pancakes. The hotel has a boutique feel rather than a typical chain hotel. Very impressed and will definitely stay again.
Really nice hotel, very good staff, knowledgeable. Busy restaurant serving simple but tasty food, good selection of beverages. Very nice swimming pool, sauna and gym, clean good facilities open until late.
First stay at this hotel, easy to find and car park facilities are available , I think there is a charge, however I didn't get charged for the parking when I stayed. Hotel room nicely decorated and helpful products in the room such as mini fridge, shower products, tea/coffee etc Breakfast was additional and I didn't book so can't comment. Hotel did have a restaurant and menu was pretty decent Hotel also has a gym and spa facility, however I didn't use on this occasion Decent hotel, nicely situated, good facilities, I would use again
