Stayed here in August 2017 for one night, very nice hotel in a great location, Jolyon was very welcoming and gave good advice on the area, we had room seven and it was good value for money, would definitely recommend this to friends and we will be staying again on our next visit to the bay.

Camere pulitissime e meravigliose, colazione ottima e staff straordinario!! Ci torneremo certamente!! ---- Clean and wonderful rooms, great breakfast and amazing staff !! Our flight was delayed by more than an hour, but Jonathan was extremely kind to guide us into the self check in system. We stayed in delux n.5 room: fabulous !! Millennium Center and Cardiff Bay view; at dawn is great. Very good breakfast and very generous. Jonathan and Jolyon were kind and very helpful: Up to now the best welcome across the UK! Perfect for visiting Cardiff and the surrounding area, at the evening the Cardiff Bay is great! In just a few minutes you get to the center; there are many buses that stop right in front of the hotel. We will definitely go back !!

This place is a little gem! The room was lovely, very comfortable and complete with nice sweets. Jonathan was incredibly nice and helpful, staying on my own he gave me tips on where to have dinner & how to get to my meeting the next day. I hope to come back to enjoy this place for more than a quick pit stop for a business trip. Thank you

I stayed here in August 2017. The first thing that struck me was how welcoming, friendly, and helpful the manager Jonathan was when I arrived. He couldn't have done more to assist me and making me feel welcome. There is a small car park at the rear of the hotel which I think has space for 3 cars. Tip for travellers: although the car park is at the rear of the hotel, it will be "front on" as you arrive because you approach the hotel from the rear if you're travelling by car, and to the front of the hotel is a turning circle cul-de-sac. The location is excellent if you are attending a show at the Millennium Centre, or if you want to visit attractions like the Welsh Assembly or Pier Building. There are also plenty of other things to do in Cardiff Bay such as pubs, restaurants, and boat trips. The water taxi to the city centre can be found 1 minute walk from this hotel and it costs £4 to Bute Park beside Cardiff Castle, and the water taxi is a very enjoyable experience and takes around 30 minutes. From the hotel it is approximately 25 minutes walk into the city centre so it is not perfect if you need to access the main shopping area, however in addition to the unique water taxi you can also get a train which has a stop 5 minutes walk from this hotel. The hotel is a quaint old B&B-style hotel, so I would recommend it to people who like "kitsch" fashion because the rooms are not ultra-modern but they do have interesting items such as a grand old wardrobe bedside tables that look like they could be antiques! I was staying in Room 2 which I would recommend to people if they want a view from their bedroom of the Millennium Centre and the Pier Building. The view is excellent, although I would also highlight to future guests that there can be a bit of noise from traffic and revellers outside in the street so if you are a light sleeper then this room may not be for you. Also because the hotel is quite old there are some creaky floorboards from the rooms above and adjacent so, although this hotel was fine for me, if you are a light sleeper then you might not get a great sleep here. There was a jacuzzi-style bath available in Room 2 which is a nice feature, although I wasn't able to make use of it because the water splashed out of the tub quite easily and I wouldn't want to make a lot of water go over the bathroom floors. Other features I encountered that other guests may want to know about are as follows. There was free and fast Wi-Fi available. There was complimentary water, tea/coffee, and sweeties (candy) in the room. There was a small TV in the corner of the bedroom which had Freeview channels, although there are so many attractions locally you probably won't want to watch TV much... this place is better suited to people who are going out to see a show, or sightseeing, or on a stag party and just need a handy crash pad for a night or two. The breakfasts were delicious and there is a good range of cereals, fruit juice, and cooked food available to order... if you need a Full English Breakfast after a heavy night out boozing then this will probably be the perfect remedy for you! The chef was very good and both her and Jonathan are a credit to the hospitality profession. Overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would definitely stay here again. I would recommend it to travellers who like a small/quaint place to stay in the Cardiff Bay area. If you are a light sleeper, or prefer modern hotels, then this place might not be for you. However, if you want to do exploring of the city, or if you are in town for a night or two and need somewhere close to restaurants (with taxis available to the city centre) then this place will be fine at £90 per night and you will be very well looked after by the hotel manger I'm sure.

Very friendly staff, lovely rooms, great position. Could do with fans in the room's and shower screens. But would definitely go back, they can't do enough for you. We had a lovely stay there and will visit again next time we are in Cardiff.

Booked for colleagues with an early meeting in Cardiff. Jonathan and Jolyon were really friendly and helpful throughout the booking process and afterwards and it's clear that they take great pride in their hotel. My colleagues were very impressed with the hotel's location and facilities. I'm told the breakfast is amazing, I hope I get the opportunity to find out for myself at some point.

We loved our weekend at Jolyon's. On arrival after a long day of driving we were shown to our wonderful room with a balcony and tea was brought to us on a tray so we could unwind and relax. This set the tone for our whole stay there. Friendly and relaxing - and the manager couldn't do enough to help us, with advice on where to eat to suit our tastes and how to get where we wanted to go. The breakfasts were amazing from locally sourced ingredients. The hotel is perfectly placed and we didn't have far to go to the Dr Who Experience. When it was time to go home we were reluctant to leave such a friendly and relaxing place. Next time we come to Cardiff we will stay here. Highly recommended!

A bijou boutique with bonuses!! We booked an overnight stay, here, for the beginning of August and were really impressed. The staff and service, be that Jolyon himself, the house-manager Jonathan, or the talented kitchen chef, couldn't be more accommodating or engaging. We were expecting to arrive later than normal check-in, and the hotel was more than happy to work round that (NB: email ahead to confirm), providing a superb room with period furnishings and a Jacuzzi bath and views across to the Millennium Centre and the bay. With free parking area to the rear of the hotel and free WiFi, plus use of the cosy lounge, we very much felt like welcome guests in someone's home rather than just customers in a hotel. Breakfast was one of the best experienced, with a broad variety of cereal, fruit, pastries, juices and cooked breakfast done to order rather than from a buffet. We have no hesitation in giving '5' for Jolyons and would stay again without hesitation. Highy recommended.

Always now stay at jolyons when in Cardiff , rooms overlooking Cardiff bay ,or room 6 with a balcony overlooking the pubs shops and restaurants in the bay ,great place for people watching with a glass of wine ,the manager Jonathon is a real star helpful knowledgeable and great fun ,met the owner last time who was very welcoming, there is some parking spaces in the back but get there early ,loads of places to eat and drink just a few steps away ,see you next time in cardiff

My 10 year old daughter and I stayed at Jolyon's Boutique Hotel following a trip to the theatre to see Grease. When I booked I explained that it was a girly treat and Jonathon immediately up-graded our room to one with a jacuzzi bath. My daughter was treated like royalty from the minute we arrived and she absolutely loved it!!! Check in was quick and simple, Jonathon could not have been more helpful (extra Parma Violets supplied) and is just the nicest person. The room was stunning with our very own 'Narnia' wardrobe. The jacuzzi bath was a huge hit. Breakfast was delicious and again my daughter was given the VIP treatment - nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful experience in a wonderful city!!
