Arrived at reception and check-in took, what appeared to be a very long time. 3 rooms booked for our two families. Reception could only confirm 2 rooms booked and wanted us to prove that we had actually got 3 rooms booked. One we had produced paperwork to confirm the 3 rooms, they miraculously confirmed the 3 rooms. Note: The car park that they call the 'Long stay car park' is at the rear of the hotel and is nothing more than a rough piece of land. On return to pick up our cars after holiday, there was a high rise lift adjacent to the hotel with workers that appeared to be jet washing the building. Our cars (2) looked as though they were covered in a white material and dirty. We never really thought too much about it and at that point we just wanted to get home after a long days travelling. After a week or so at home, thought it was time to clean the car. It was at this time we realised it was the jet washed paint from the Holiday Inn that had covered the car and was extremely difficult to remove. Took hours of very hard work. Complaint was sent to Holiday Inn Cardiff Airport and after several exchanges of e-mails, delaying tactics and after 3 months they asked us if we had photographic evidence - our answer was no. The Hotel response was, without photographic evidence they could not progress the complaint. In other words they did not believe us. If you wish to get customer satisfaction, recommend that this hotel is avoided. We would not stay here ever again. There are other hotel chains that will go the extra mile to ensure the customer is satisfied.
This was a lovely pleasant hotel to stay at before an early flight. Staff were very friendly & helpful..Bar meals & drinks were reasonable. We received a wake up call early in the morning & the shuttle bus to airport 2 mins away was prompt & efficient Will definitely come here again
Booked to stay one night before travelling out of Cardiff Airport the following morning. Check-in was very swift, thanks to Rachelle & Team.. Room of a very good standard with a lovely soft comfy bed good sized bathroom with toiletries - Tea & Coffee making facilities Breakast also the following morning you had a good choice of hot and cold foods. also shuttle to and from the airport is a great bonus Only criticism we had was, there appears to be alot of Eastern Europeans residing here on a works contract locally and during the night a few very drunk were banging and crashing up and down the corridor knocking on various doors at 2.30am, which resulted in a lot of shouting between them and an ensuing fight... not nice when you are traveliing with a young family -- was reported to the front desk who advised that they would speak to management about it but dont let this put you off an otherwise great hotel
Not sure how to explain our experience with the Holiday Inn. We are a family of seven. When we got there we was greeted with friendly staff who really made us feel welcome, we has a 6 pm flight, they said that there was no one available to take us to the airport unless we left a 315am we felt this was to early and asked if we could go a bit later, they had a look and said they could take us at 430am which meant that we was going to be there at a better time which was fine. When we settled in we tried to order food....that's where it all went down hill, we had 3 young children who along with the adults ordered the Berger and chips, has we was ordering a meal was brought out for another customer which was fish and chips it was sent back because the fish was still cold or frozen, they came to us and said there was not burger's left because we seen the fish and chips sent back we didn't fancy any other meal, we also thought they should not run out of Berger's has it probably is quite common to have regarding a quick meal snack etc. They did provide us with contacts for a take away to be delivered which was not very good quality food. The beds was comfortable and we slept well. In the morning they was running late because of a driver issue which meant we was late getting to the airport and was rushing around. When we arrived back from holiday we rang them has told to and they still had driver issues and was back logged with pick ups they said that we would have to do it in 2 trips. We went to the pick up point and there was at least 3 family's waiting to be picked up. The driver was in a panic and said they she would have to come back again to pick us up well she didn't apparently she went home then we had to stand in the cold for at least half a hour or more good job it wasn't raining we did get back eventually after a long Waite although we went in 2 different taxis my daughter in law was told she would have to pay the £9 it cost before she left the taxi which made her panic because she didn't have the money that was when the manger came out and sorted the taxi out. After all that we had to start our journey back to Cornwall freezing cold and hungry. We will not be staying there again unfortunately these people will only apologise and forget about it which is easy to do. If they had to pay back the nearly £200 we paid then I am sure they would not get it so wrong. Rob Davey
Got to give this hotel a mention! Real good value to start your holiday. Hotel lets you leave car there and they run you to airport in their minibus. Its so easy just dial them on return and they pick you back up. Great breakfast is included in price which they start serving at 4 in morning . Full english comes aling a bit later though. Nice clean rooms comfy beds and good value cheaper than having brekfast parking etc at airport.
We stayed here on the night before our flight, had 15 nights parking then stayed for another night on our return. The hotel is very good value for money, and everything went like clockwork, from our check-in by welcoming reception staff, to a comfortable, but fairly basic room, to the early breakfast and prompt transfer to the airport. These were included in the price. We had dinner at the hotel on both nights, which was attractively served. On our return we walked back to the hotel (only 10 minutes) and received the same welcome as before. The staff are all friendly and efficient. The rooms were well presented with good en-suite facilities and supplies. We had to point out that unfortunately the inside of the shower curtain was unpleasantly mildewed, for which an apology was received, and hopefully it was replaced before the next guests. The hotel is ideally placed as an airport hotel, and we would have no hesitation in staying there again. The rooms were very quiet will no aircraft noise.
4 stars for the convenience of staying the night before a flight from Cardiff. We were on the 10am to Amsterdam so we could connect with Delta flight to Vegas. Flights from Cardiff often appear expensive but when you factor in the cost of getting to and staying overnight at Heathrow it can still be competitive. Nothing special about the hotel. It looked busy in the evening with a lot of contractors evident. In the morning (about 8am) it had emptied and three were only a few people in the breakfast room. Breakfast was the usual fare with hot and cold items. More than adequate. The free shuttle takes less than 5 minutes to get to the terminal. If you've got a car there are a few reasonable pubs nearby. Too far to walk to though.
Stayed after a late return from Lanzarote. We parked car the day we left, were transferred in a mini bus by a really friendly lady very promptly and stayed on our return. Great location, were picked up at airport and arrived to be quickly checked in to a comfortable but compact room. Good tea making facilities in room, plus nice towels and complimentary shower gel were all a bonus for a fairly priced park and stay.
Stayed a few times now when flying from Cardiff. Good value as it only costs a little more to park and stay than to park at the airport.(provided there isn't a big event on in Cardiff and they ramp the prices up). Rooms and breakfast are fine.Staff are pleasant. My only gripe is that there are always groups of dodgy looking characters hanging round reception and outside drinking alcohol and smoking.
Had a 0600 flight so decided to book in to lessen the impact of such an early flight, additionally we were returning from Amsterdam arriving in Cardiff at 2130 so decided to stay that night as well which meant we could enjoy the day without having to worry about driving home from the airport. Check in was quick and easy and in no time had dropped bags in the room and was sitting in the bar area having ordered food. The menu is not the most extensive but there is something for everyone. Chips were chunky and very crisp, well cooked indeed really enjoyable. My partner had a pizza which was really generous (regretted the side of chips with it!) and I had the fish & chips - fish a little on the small size but nevertheless all good 'pub grub' type food. Service was good, staff very pleasant & polite, there appears to be some regulars there, looked to be contractors so clearly consistent in their standard? The lounge area would benefit from more comfortable seating, when it is busy (as it was on a Thurs evening) we ended up staying at the table we ate at and then finishing up at the bar perched on a stool. Plenty of car parking to be had. The hotel is just a short walk to the terminal, and I could kick myself having waited previously for a taxi to arrive from Barry to take me to the hotel!! The route is quick & easy and has street lighting, and well under a 10 minute walk! Even in the rain and with luggage I would not now wait for the minibus from the hotel (they send a taxi if their minibus is unavailable)!! Breakfast the morning of the flight was basic, oats in a pot, some cakes and croissants, toast with tea/coffee/juice etc. Breakfast on our return was the same plus a hot option of sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans & toast. The sausage and bacon was really nice tasted like good quality meats! Spent 2 very restful nights, very quiet indeed! There are no 13 amp plug outlets near the bed so if you want to charge your phone and use it as an alarm clock then its not very practical to rush across the room to silence your alarm! The whole place is clean and in good order. My only gripe, like many hotels is where guests smoke which is at the front door so you have to walk through the smokers to get to the hotel!!
