Some light bulbs don't work, bathrooms need bringing into this century. disabled room, gets you a sliding door to bigger bathroom, not to the room itself and not a disability friendly shower of bath. Size of bathroom cuts down room itself, a wheel chair user would struggle in the room itself We had booked 2 rooms for a party of 4 at this facility for the weekend 1/4/2017 to 2/4/17. As on previous occasions we were welcomed and quickly booked in to our and explained about facilities available to us. We were issued with keys to rooms 06 and 10, which was fine or so we thought until we wanted to settle in for the night. We had been out for a meal at Magor and returned at 22.05 hrs to settle for the night. Within minutes of going to bed, we noticed car racing started up on the car park. Some local lad and lasses in high spirits, who had already been having a good old party supported by their car audio systems and some guitars, had obviously decided to spin their wheels as well as their CDs now. By this time it had gone past 23.30 hrs, they eventually cleared off only to be replaced by some guests to your facility to have a meeting and chat in the corridor outside our rooms. As well as some fighting shouts on car park. This finished just after midnight, so I was now looking forward to a restful night’s sleep, But the story continues: The room above our room, we were in number 10, seemed to have been used as a keep fit facility by someone. Hours and hours of heavy walking forward and backward, thumping and seemingly dropping objects right above my head, did not make for a restful night at all. In fact, my daughter shot up from a little slumber, saying: “what on earth is going on with all the noise”, I decided to go and find receptionist at about 4.15 am to ask for some solution to this. He said he would try and find out about the situation. I am afraid, this didn’t make much of a difference to it at all. To say I had no sleep that night, would not be an overstatement of the facts. We had come away to enjoy time at beautiful Caldicot and surrounding areas and found it a complete nightmare. I was so deprived of sleep, it made it quite impossible to enjoy the following day and the thought of driving home was quite scary and only facilitated by copious amounts of coffee. We arrived back home only to have to go straight to bed, at about 20 hrs, so I would hopefully be fit for work the next morning. I struggled through the following day. Not my best experience of a weekend away in Wales. I was originally putting this aside as a lesson learned and look for alternative options for future stays, until I received a little reminder today: Car parking ticket even though we had registered our two vehicles. I hope, you get the problems sorted and I look forward to a plausible explanation for our bad experience on the weekend in question.
I was a bit apprehensive about staying, based on the many bad reviews, but in fact my room wasn't as grotty as I had expected. The hotel staff were friendly, the bedroom/bathroom were fairly clean, and noise levels were good. A few relatively trivial points - the heater had been left on in the room which meant it was sweltering when I first arrived; the sofa bed was very small and had no bedding (yes, we could have asked, but by the time we found out, it was very late), and the cold tap in the bathroom was very stiff. However, this is a budget hotel - fine for a short stay.
Room was Comfortable and clean. Rooms in need of a little Refurbishment but nothing major. Looks like they have started and is being done to a great standards. I've stayed in a few different Days Inns and This one is defiantly the best by far with the improvements they are making. The staff are always amazing and this one is no different. Receptionist was very helpful really went out of her way, to ensure i had a great stay. WiFi Was good, had a food voucher was able to use in Costa in the morning,Toast and coffee was able to get a sandwich for work too. Ideal Stop will be in area soon and will Re-book at Days inn Magor, will booking directly with hotel this time.
Room (12) generally disgusting, dirty. Bathroom particularly bad - mould on tiles, black stains round taps and old water drip stains in bath tub. YUK. Carpet covered in pet hair and although I realise this is a pet friendly hotel (we took our dog) we would expect the rooms to be thoroughly cleaned after each pet's stay, as other chains do. Stain on bed base, which I am hoping was just tea/coffee !!
My husband and I stayed here with our 2 dogs (black lab and miniature dachshund) on our way to Wales. The staff are friendly, the location is convenient, the room we had was large enough for a big dog bed on the floor and still space for them to run around. Couldn't fault the room; it was clean and tidy and well-equipped. The double bed was incredibly comfortable, as were the pillows (there was a choice) and we're quite fussy! The bathroom was also just right; clean, functional and the bath filled with hot water extremely quickly. The outdoor area behind the hotel was perfect for letting the dogs out to do their business, with an outdoor light and plenty of bins. We were so impressed we returned for an extra night on our way home from Wales! The friendly, helpful receptionist managed to get us the same room again. All in all, a lovely stay.
For £108 we would have expected a clean room and bathroom. As you can see from the photos, you must agree that the room was not worth all that money; the overcharge was not even justifiable because of the rugby in Cardiff. The shower head was mouldy, there was dirt under and around the taps and there was no shower gel or soap at all. We only noticed these things the morning after we checked in as we were too tired after a very long day, to check the room thoroughly on arrival. The towel rail was not working and the bathroom fan was on all night quite loudly; we could hear it even with the bathroom door shut. The mattress base had brown stains all along one side; the mind boggles as to what those stains might have been! It was dirty all around and I couldn't bring myself to check under the mattress protector or under the bed itself; goodness knows what I could have found! There was dust on the kettle and one of the wall lights by the mirror wasn't working. The room looked in desperate need of a refurbishment. I went downstairs in the morning to ask the staff if we could have some shower gel and soap. I got given two bottles of soap and told by staff to just take the caps off and that it'd be OK. They didn't seem to be interested in fitting them in the dispenser for us. The only saving grace is that the linen seemed clean and fresh. I rather stay in a Travelodge!
Room wasnt cleaned properly, shower head was broken, taps leaking. shower dirty, mould between tiles. room dusty. Bedding was nice and clean. Plenty towels. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cheap hotel, you get what you pay for.
We stayed here when visiting friends nearby. We asked for a room with an extra bed and the beds were a good size and comfortable. But we were a bit disappointed by the overall tiredness of the hotel, which needs a freshen up and updating in the rooms. We also had no toilet roll, not enough towels and empty soap dispensers. But the staff did supply them when asked. For us it was convenient, cheap and ticked the boxes for one night, mostly. But the brand looks cheap and needs modernisation.
Booked into this motel on 1/11/16 as cheap option before a flight the following day from Bristol. I asked the receptionist about whether I needed to register for parking and was told "No. No need". So really annoyed to have just received a £60 parking fine, more than doubling the cost of the stay. Should have just paid more for the Hampton on the other side of the motorway junction.
Booked this as our preferred location was fully booked (rugby!). Large room with comfortable bed. Basic but clean. Dogs welcome. Only downside is limited food options due to location but small town nearby.
