Fist time to visit here to share an afternoon tea with my husband before goibg on to an evening concert. I have to say the food was delicious and washed down with unlimited tea or coffee was a plus. We also enjoyed a Prosecco cocktail and the service was friendly and welcoming from the start. Would certainly go back for more !!

I held a work event here last week. The hotel as excellent and well located but best of all were the staff. Sue effortlessy made sure the event went smoothly, Cat on reception went out of her way to make sure I got the kind of room I wanted (thank you!) and everyone else was pleasant, open and very efficient. If I stay in Cardiff again I'll make sure I stay here. Thank you!

Stayed here for one night whilst seeing a concert. Offered 20% discount on food and drink which was really welcomed. Lovely hotel room for 3. Double bed and single bed. Clean, warm and very comfortable bed. Good hotel bar and good food however restaurant is a little messy and unkempt. Needs a good tidy up and some staff who look like they want to be there. Another drawback is that the windows dont appear to open in the bedroom but has air con. It's very quiet because of that. Definitely would come back.

Spent a night here whilst on business. Room very clean, lovely fresh bedding. Room was compact with 1 single and 1 double bed but had everything I needed. Very tasty breakfast with a good selection. Car parking was available at the train station less than 1 minute walk away. £12.50 for 24 hours. The pay and display machines are a nightmare to use so we bought a ticket in the train station. A much easier option. I would recommend this hotel its within walking distance of loads of great pubs and restaurants and although beside the train station there was no noise. I will use again 👍

We chose to return to the Clayton for girls weekend in Cardiff. Great friendly staff, nice rooms reasonably priced and fantastic location for bars and restaurants! There’s a Mexican restaurant underneath which looked good but we didn’t eat there. Fabulous breakfast served til 11.00 am on a Sunday For additional £10 per person. Really good brekkie!! But if you want to save money there’s a weatherspoons directly opposite 👍

Just had our second afternoon tea at the clayton (see previous post also) My daughter and I had a groupon . Lovely fresh made sandwiches, none of that chilled tasteless rubbish, great fillings, special requirements catered for ,really crummy cakes and scones ,I really loves the spiced fruit cake it was gorgeous,as much tea as you want ,choices offered, and a Prosecco cocktail,it was all really lovely . The staff are all really friendly and helpful and always buzzing around to see if you need something. They we’re all very nice. I really recommend this place for a girly afternoon

My room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The hotel is very conveniently located to shops and restaurants and only about a 5 minute walk to Cardiff Castle. There was a nice selection for the breakfast buffet. Enjoyed my stay.

I recently had the privilege of spending a night at the Clayton Hotel Cardiff whilst visiting this beautiful city for a business conference. Although my stay was only short, I still felt that I received 5* treatment from the staff. Everything in my room was immaculate when I arrived. There were adequate toiletries that I could easily have travelled without my own. A hair dryer and iron are also included in the room. There was a bottle of still water and two packs of cookies waiting for me when I arrived. The bed was clean and comfortable - so much so that I almost overslept and missed my conference altogether the next morning. This also meant that I didn't get to sample the breakfast, so you will have to read elsewhere for that. After a very long drive, I was initially disheartened by the lack of car parking and had to pay £12 for a 24 hour parking space on the nearby train station car park. However, this is purely my fault for not checking beforehand. Once I got into the hotel, I was too tired to eat in the restaurant or go out in search of food so I was happy to see that room service incurred no extra charge and offered a wide selection of meals. I highly recommend the Clayton Burger with welsh cheese. It was delicious! The staff member that delivered my food was very helpful and attentive. Despite the train tracks being right below my window, I slept like a baby. Either the rooms are excellently sound proofed or I was too exhausted to care, but I haven't slept that well in a long time. Sadly, I can't really comment on the cost as this accommodation was paid for by my employer, but I would stay here again very happily and hopefully will be able to explore the wonderful city of Cardiff when I do.

Won't stay here again. Between the noise from the trains and the elevator, we had a very disturbed sleep. The 'superior' room was small. Hotel was in a good location, 20 minutes walk from the castle and other main attractions.

Central location for the city centre, taxi rank more or less outside. Parking is in the rail station car park, a 2 minute walk. Check in was easy, although we ordered and paid for breakfast (cheaper to order in advance) but weren’t told the times and when we went for the breakfast it wasn’t recorded that we’d paid. This was resolved immediately by the member of staff. Rooms were lovely and clean, with a big floor length window. We had 2 adjoining triple rooms, one had a double and a single bed but the other had a double and a camp bed which was quite disappointing. Bathrooms were clean and functional, although one room had a crack in the sink. Touletries available in the bathroom. Big tv and plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. Would definately stay here Again.
