World Famous Rocky Mountain Treehouse | Hot Tub
Tucked high in the treetops and anchored to four towering 100-foot spruce trees, this hand-built 1970s treehouse offers a rare blend of seclusion and soul. Cross two wooden footbridges and let the forest swallow the noise of the world behind you. With Starlink internet, a private hot tub under the canopy, and Cattle Creek rushing below, this rustic escape once hosted two of the Eagles—and now it's ready to host your next unforgettable story.
Perched above Cattle Creek and hidden deep within the woods, this home is accessed only by foot—just a short 200-foot walk across two wooden bridges and shaded forest paths. Inside, you'll find an inviting, lived-in charm: knotty wood walls, hand-forged details, and a cozy wood stove that's kept stories warm for decades. There's a full kitchen and a charming sitting area for games, books, and mountain gazing. Starlink internet keeps you connected—if you want to be.
Outside, soak in the private hot tub under the trees, or gather 'round the fire pit with a drink and good company. Let the sounds of the creek be your soundtrack and the towering trees your shelter. This is a place where time slows and the noise of the world fades.
It's worth noting: this is a true, storied, rustic treehouse escape. No central air, no valet or butler—just the essentials, well worn and well loved. When the wind blows, the home sways with the trees, the great horned owl that lives nearby may come to visit, and the ceilings are low. This is a space for adventurers looking for an authentic, real experience without any frills. At the same time, this space is hosted by Aspen Leisure Co. with touches of care and quality maintenance. Come prepared for a stay that's full of texture, story, and seclusion that you won't forget.
Perfect for: Writers, musicians, adventurers, seekers of solitude, couples chasing cozy, and anyone craving a soul-deep unplug in the woods. Best for those who don't mind a little rustic edge and a lot of natural magic.
Pet friendly: This home is pet friendly for up to two dogs. There is a $50 per dog, per night which is automatically added to your reservation when you select the number of pets you are bringing.
Sleeping arrangements: Please note the beds are nothing out of the ordinary. The lofted sleeping nook has a cozy full-size bed and plush flannel sheets and duvets. Next to this bed is a futon that folds out into another full-sized bed. The sleeper sofa in the main living area also folds out into a full-sized bed. This treehouse sleeps up to 4 guests due to its size.
Parking information: Parking is located approximately 200 feet from the cabin. You will park in up to 2 designated spots and, from there, follow a short, scenic path and cross two wooden footbridges to reach the home.
The location: Nestled in a Ferngully-like wooded oasis between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs, this home offers quick access to all the Roaring Fork Valley has to offer—without giving up that off-the-grid feel. You are 10 minutes to Highway 82 and pop out between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. From there, you are a quick 5-10 minutes to either Carbondale, or Glenwood Springs, and roughly 40 minutes to Aspen or Snowmass.

Liked: Cleanliness
The treehouse is amazing. It was exactly the kind of unique rental experience I was hoping for. Rustic and rough but perfectly liveable. I'd advise renters to be ready for a challenging climb to the house (especially if your luggage is heavy) as well as inside the house (steep stairs) -- and be ready to literally encounter bears on the property, as we did one night! Sleeping to the slight sway of the wind and the soothing sound of the creek was delightful. This is a great rental for the adventuresome.

Disliked: Cleanliness
It is “rustic”. Like the concept and it is an older building. Think old mine shack but in the trees.
