We stayed in this hotel in July and have been very disapointed. To be fair, the view of the hotel is trully amazing and beautiful. But the hotel needs serious renovation for the classic rooms, it seems nothing has been done since the opening probably 30 years ago. Moreover, when we arrived the room was not cleaned. Dirty floor, soap from the previous client in the shower, teathbrush glass not cleaned after being used previously... After complaining about the situation, we have been offered another room, but there were musty smell... So we decided to stay in our previous room and the manager sent a cleaning woman to fix the room. Other major problem : walls are so slim taht you hear EVERYTHING form other room, you can basiclly follow the conversation of your neighboor without anyproblem. We haven't sleep for all night because our neighboor watched tv until 4AM. Regarding breakfast, poor quality. Hotel to avoid if you would like to ... sleep...
There are better accommodations in my opinion. First of all you can't find it easily, the people who work there are totally on there limits if there are more than two persons at the reception and if you need help (while there are more people) no chance for a fast or clear advise. If you are lucky you get a good room, we weren't. We leave today for an other hotel. Sad story!
Have recently returned from absolutely perfect holiday in Anacapri. This hotel could not have been any better in terms of location, staff and facilities. Traditional and family run, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was simple but ample and set you up for a morning hiking across the Island. The hotel is close to the bus stop and easy access to all the sites on Capri and Anacapri. We walked a lot and found getting the bus back up easier. We got picked up from the port on arrival and did wonder where we were heading down some very narrow streets, but the area and island overall is very welcoming and safe. We were close enough to the centre of Anacapri to wander for dinner and back in the evening. The pool and sunbathing terrace was ideal for relaxing in the late afternoon sun after a day of sightseeing. Never too busy and also some lovely traditional pasta served. With perfect views of the sea, lemon and olive groves this hotel makes it very easy to switch off and relax. Perfect location, perfect surroundings. Wish I was back.
Everyone at the hotel was friendly and ready to be of service. We had a beautiful room, the maids were perfect, the food is delicious, the pool is a dream, the service is impeccable, the transfers are delightful.
We stayed two nights at this hotel. It's away from the center and that's how we liked it. We loved peace and quiet and nature around us. They have a lovely swimming pool. The breakfast was correct and service was good. They have a shuttle that picked us up from the port of Capri on our arrival. We enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend this hotel.
We love this place, there is free shuttle bus from the port. Breakfast is great, you can choose whether you want. There are also very nice people working at this hotel- very helpful, gave us map and give us recommendation what to see. 10 min slow walk to Anacapri city centre- close to chairlift.
This experience was by far the most disappointing part of our entire trip. We were very excited to go to Capri and realized our decision of trying to maximize value was certainly not worth it in the end. To begin, it was about a $50USD cab ride from the main port in Capri. Our cab driver dropped us off on a small sidewalk and told us he couldn't get any closer to the hotel with a car - we were left dragging very heavy luggage down narrow cobble stone pathways for at least 2kilometres. Safe to say the place was very difficult and inconvenient to find. We were hoping to find an oasis after the adventure but turns out our bed had an ant infestation and our room in general was just dingy and damaged (seemed like there was some mold in one of the corners). We went to the front desk to request a new room because we didn't want to sleep with ants, and the owner was very rude from the minute we started the conversation...literally no sense of customer service to put it lightly. She said that there are gardens around so it's basically expected to have insects and that the only other room she had available was far more expensive and we would have to pay the difference. We then asked for a refund and told her we would look for a different hotel and she immediately said it was not possible. I then asked her what she could do to fix the problem? Her solution: change the sheets and spray the room up with Raid. Seemed that we had no other options for that night... so we slept in a Raid smelling, ant covered bed wearing clothing from head to toe. We checked out in the morning and had to go back to Sorrento as all the other hotels in Capri were booked that weekend. Luckily we were able to get a refund for the remainder of the nights from the third party we had booked through. Unfortunately, we had minimal time to experience Capri and it was an overall buzzkill. On the plus side, I won't discount the views from the terrace (they are beautiful), the pool is small but refreshing and the staff are very pleasant (minus the owner). The really sweet lady working the pool snack bar makes an awesome sandwich. Overall, my advice would be to spend the extra money and stay somewhere better.
After an exhausting cultural trip through Rome and the Amalfi Coast the 4 days at the Il Girasole were meant to be for relaxation and yes, we found exactly what we were looking for. A little away from the hustle and bustle this is a quiet resort where they look after you well. You have a lovely view over the Bay of Naples and can just sit there and watch for hours, or read a book. The breakfast is very nice. If you need a coffee or anything in the afternoon or evening they will make one for you right away, so don't hesitate to ask. The hotel has water and beer, wine and pop for sale at a reasonable price. They pick you up from the ferry in Capri and drop you off as well when you let them know when to expect you. Enjoy the adventurous ride from Capri to Anacapri where the locals pray on the High Cliff Road and later when the driver dives into the narrowest of walking streets in the small mini van. Beds are fairly comfy and everything is clean. I would return again in a heart beat.
Lots of good points. Lovely location though bit of a walk into town. No vehicle access near hotel so you will have to walk which was a plus point for us but can see some might not like that. Meant it was peaceful on the pretty terraces apart from a few chickens and turkeys. The views are staggering and sunsets from the terrace were gorgeous. Friendly staff. Nice to be given a map and details of main sites in Capri. Breakfast fine though I would have liked to have helped myself to coffee. Cons - our room was very basic. Tiny, drab and very dark. Bathroom felt like we were on a campsite. The bed was like concrete. Views amazing but meant opening small shuttered windows and door so everyone passing could see into room. Paper thin walls with insomniac small child next door. Spotlessly clean. Maybe we would have been better paying a bit extra for one of the better rooms. Suspect the hotel is good value for Capri. Capri is gorgeous and lots to do so we were not in much anyway.
Nice hotel, walking distance from Anacapri and from the bus station. We had a lovely room with tiles "Capri" style and a stunning view on Ischia, Procida and a beautiful sunset. the pick up from the port of Marina Grande was included in the price. very good service from the staff, kind and welcoming. good breakfast and a lovely swimming pool. definitely recommended.
