The Blue Whale (circa 1872) is centrally located just one block from the beach and is less than a 10-minute walk to Cape May’s Washington Street Mall. The amazing location makes enjoying the beach, grabbing a morning cup of coffee, or dining at one of Cape May’s restaurants all that more enjoyable of an experience. With a covered private rear deck that has amazing ocean views, you’ll love sipping cocktails or dining with family just outside the comfort of your living room.

Condo #2 is the second-floor unit of the Blue Whale. Enter from the main front common entrance or from your private entrance at the back of the property. The Blue Whale was recently refreshed in the off season and boasts new paint along with other upgrades. The condo has a partial kitchen that is open to the living area. When you’re not enjoying being out and about in Cape May or enjoying the outside weather from your large private deck with ocean views, the living room has a 65” TV with Hulu, Hulu Live, Netflix and a blazing fast mesh Wi-Fi.

There are 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. Relax in your oversized master bedroom with a king-sized bed and 65” TV. The middle bedroom has a full-sized bed and a twin-sized bed. There is also a queen-sized pullout couch in the living area.

New to the 2023 season, we just completely renovated the bathroom with plenty of high end finishes such as a custom tile shower and high-end bath fixtures.

The mattresses are encased in protective coverings, and guests are required to bring blankets, bedding, and linens.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. The vacation home also includes a coffee maker.

Pros: location, porch view, bathroom and refrigerator very clean, nice updated bathroom Cons: grungy coffee pot & sink sponge, bead spread had dried blood stains, get rid of rug in MBR - tripping hazard, windows do not open. FYI: Lace curtain in closet is on the floor on the heating unit - potential fire hazard.

Cape May trip

You can’t beat the location of this property, but there are some things not mentioned in the listing that should be included for other people looking to book here. The “kitchen” is listed as a kitchen and then a kitchenette. I would describe it as a kitchenette. There is just a stove top, no oven attached to it. There is very little space in the living area. Unfortunately, with the large tv and room arrangement, you couldn’t have people sit at the table and be comfortable. It’s also listed as a 2 bedroom, but what isn’t said is that you have to walk thru one bedroom to get to the master bedroom. We were there with our 2.5 year old and there wasn’t a lot of space for him to move around. This property is 3 separate apartments, one on each floor that we didn’t realize, which was fine. The problem was the other people kept leaving the front door open and making a lot of noise. The location was awesome, the beds were comfortable, and there was an AC unit in each room. They included beach tags, which was very helpful. All in all, it wasn’t a bad stay, but a more accurate description would be helpful.

The Blue Whale

We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Whale. We had a nice sized deck facing the beach and had a satisfactory view of the ocean. The deck had a roof which was nice on rainy and very sunny days. Our second floor apartment was the only one with this amenity. It was calmer and quieter than being right on the beach, but still had a view! We walked everywhere we went and didn't have to move cars around. Found parking actually right in front of the building. We spent time on the lovely front porch watching people go by and having our wine and looking at the beautiful homes across the street. The three of us fit in very well. More than 4 would be very tight. It is a small area. Nicely redone bathroom, very adequate, but again, small. Kitchen is well appointed for modest cooking. We had no problem with making meals. There is no oven, but there is a toaster oven and a microwave. Also, toaster and coffee maker.

Great time

We would definitely stay at this property again, if Available. It was as it was described by the host.Beds were comfortable. It was the perfect size for what we Needed. The biggest concern is cleanliness and it Definitely was!! We also enjoyed the back deck. We actually lucked out with beautiful weather. The on-street parking worked out well. I have vacationed here multiple time great spot in the middle of everything, I park and don’t drive again till I check out , clean spot, every year different things upgraded. Bath upgrades this year . Beach tags and couple of chairs as well Nice spot will be back

Needs a Lot of Work

We had hurricane weather all during our stay, but tried to make the best of it. The location can't be beat ,but we were disappointed in the apartment. Many things need to be updated or repaired. The porch and and screen door need a lot of work. The door is not safe. The living room sofa definitely needs to be replaced, and the bathroom needs more surface space and some towel racks. The rug was filthy. I hope you will be able to attend to some of these problems before next summer.

Suggestions 1. Need towel racks in bathroom 2. Need toilet paper holder in bathroom 3. Large bed in middle room is queen size, not full or double (double bed sheets did not fit) 4. Need window shade in second front window 5. Would be nice to have a chair in large front bedroom. 6. We could not open what may have been closet doors, in hall and bathroom, so were not able to locate a broom to sweep. 7. Took a long time for kitchen water to get hot, but we appreciated heads up about shower water taking a long time to heat up. 8. Nearby on-street parking was usually quite difficult during a very busy September. 9. In general, the apartment was comfortable, quiet and convenient. 10. The price was right until all the extra fees were added on.

Perfect place for a vacation

My wife and I enjoyed a week long getaway at the blue whale after our wedding. It was within a block from the beach, close to the Washington street mall, and a bike ride away to sunset beach. It was an excellent experience - we will be coming back here again!

Old house being renovated

Stayed on the 2nd floor. House is old and needs a lot of work. Having said that the owner was very nice about replacing an air conditioner that didn’t work. And he is fixing the place up. Took a few minutes to get hot water in the kitchen and bathroom sinks. Shower is very small, and just a lot of little things that need done. I wish him luck and I’m sure he’ll be able to rent all summer!

Great location.

This was located in a great location. Had two huge televisions. We did have some problems with the toilet but, it was nothing major and we spoke with the owner about it, he assured us he would have some one look at it. It had a great porch but the outside steps were a little steep and made some of our party a little nervous using them.

Perfect place for a couple or family with young kids. Privacy is limited since you must walk through the smaller bedroom to get to the master. The place had definitely been cleaned between guests but there is some wear and tear throughout. In the end, you cannot beat the short walk to the beach.

Great property and a wonderful location 1 block from the beach. Perfect amount of space for my family of 4. The master bedroom is huge and the kids room was perfect. We loved the view on the back deck. We could clearly see the ocean! Andy was responsive and very helpful. Great price for central Cape May.

Bathroom needs a lift

The shower is way too small. I don’t like having to bring or rent towels and sheets. Steep stairs to climb! The toilet wouldn’t always work. Didn’t like having to go through the first bedroom to get to the second.

Great location, okay place

We were surprised when we saw the walk through layout of the "2 bedroom" rental. You have to walk through one bedroom, which has a Queen bed and a Twin bed, to get to the master bedroom. No privacy. Very late check in time and inconveniently early check out. No beach tags included, and very difficult to find street parking within 2 blocks without using a metered spot. The Blue Whale is basic, but the location is wonderful.

Wonderful location!

We enjoyed our stay at The Blue Whale. This is an old Victorian house in a great location with easy walks to the beach, coffee shops, and the Washington mall. Our stay was on the second floor of the home. The master bedroom is huge with a 65” TV and a super comfortable bed. The living room also boasts another 65” TV! It’s a little small in the main living area but this is the perfect stay for 2 people or a small family. It’s definitely a great place to stay.

You cant beat this location!..older victorian, in middle of other quaint victorians ,suuper clean..looks like its getting a slow update, but VERY comfortable & WELL taken care-of....awesome back porch view of ocean.There were 5 of us including my 77yr. old FIL. There is long flight of steps to the 2nd fl., but we knew that when we booked. Tiny kitchen sink so cooking alot would be tight, but they have a dishwasher. We would absolutely stay here again!!Hope to comeback soon!
