This is a fairly new property that was very clean and had all the accoutrements necessary for daily living except one, a potable water supply! The property uses its own well water and has its own water treatment equipment but this equipment had not been maintained by the person in charge. Water drawn from either the cold or hot taps would off-gas the pungent odor of hydrogen sulfide (rotten eggs) and was not possible to drink without gagging. After contacting the host Eugene, he sent someone out to check the equipment but all they did was fill the salt storage tank for the water softener which did nothing to filter out the sulfur stench. After a second call, the repair man was able to get the water filter working and after purging the hot and cold-water lines of the entire house, and entire water heater, the stench was finally eliminated. However, the controller for the water filter was not properly programmed to backwash itself daily and needed to be manually regenerated by hand each day. It is obvious to me, who has lived on well water for 20 years, that the Host nor the maintenance person has any knowledge of the water treatment equipment or that after a power outage the controller clocks and other settings must be reset since there is no battery backup for the system. It took 3 days to finally get a potable water supply running thru this house during which time we lived on bottled water. Also, the clear glass entryway has no curtain so people outside can readily see in.
