Doves Rest Cabins – Chisholm, on North Rim

Situated on the storied and historic Marshall Ranch, moments from the entrance to America’s most beloved State Park - Palo Duro Canyon, Chisholm Cabin is a destination on most traveler’s bucket list. One of the best features of the lovely view from this cabin is the proximity to the sheer edge of the canyon wall. Flint scrapers and arrowheads can still be found on this grouping of North Rim Cabins. The site where these cabins were constructed was used by Comanche’s as a “butchery,” and nearby Buffalo Draw was where the Indians drove buffalo over the cliff as a hunting technique.

Blending the West Texas legendary ranching past with the relevance of Americas second largest canyon, this cabin is sure to engage the senses and captivate the imagination of our guests. Longhorn Cattle roam the adjacent pasture and the steep margins of the canyon view consist of bright, banded layers of orange, red, brown, yellow, and white rocks that represent four geologic periods. Modern but rustic, this cabin is immaculate and fully furnished.

Amazing view and cabin

We plan to come back to this oasis right on the rim of the Paol Dura Canyon. Well-appointed cabin with a beautiful interior. Views everywhere. Even though there is a cluster of cabins here, they are situated to be very private. The back porches look right out at the canyon.

Nice cabin but faux fireplace

Cabin itself is lovely with a great view. Was disappointed in the faux fireplace as was expecting a real one. Foam mattress was not the most comfortable.

Great Place!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. We just wished we’d had booked a longer stay. Our cabin, the Chisholm cabin, was perfect for us. Very clean, very peaceful and excellent views. I’ve already recommended it to my friends and family and look forward to staying there again.

Great View

Loved the Cabin. It was too cold for us to do any hiking. We are going back in a month and staying at same cabin. We hope to see more of the canyon and get in some hiking.

They thought of everything - Really, Dove's Rest is top notch

Our family stayed in the Durango & Chisholm cabins and everything was better than we could of imagined. I know this sounds over hyped but they were clean, fully stocked kitchen for Thanksgiving (they even had a Crock Pot) and a wonderful view of the canyon. The location is 3 minutes from the Park entrance and there is a new convenience store (Sad Monkey Mercantile) with a Wine bar and a place to read a couple of blocks away. The host was readily available and very helpful the couple of times we called. we will definitely rebook if we come back to the park.

Overall very good

It is indeed a beautiful property. It’s very clean. It is very spacious. And it is well worth it. The kitchen is minimally supplied so if you are a cook you might want to bring your special things. The bed is extremely high, had there not been a step ladder in the closet I could not have gotten on the bed so I think they need to build a little stepstool. The couches were extremely uncomfortable not just for me at 5 foot tall but for my husband at 6 foot four they were just uncomfortable to sit on…. Too deep with minimal back support … The grill wasn’t working and the front toilet didn’t work. But since there were just two of us it was really wasn’t an issue. I will say I loved the cabin- I’m not disappointed in the stay .

Homey lil Cabin on the Canyon

Absolutely enjoyed Chisholm! Perfect views and enough room to accommodate our little family of three and two fur babies. Our cabin had everything we needed and then some. Wi-Fi was better than what we get in the city. Park is close too.

We very much enjoyed the cabin - you can’t beat the view of the canyon from the two giant windows or the back porch. The cabin had all the kitchen essentials to cook a meal. I would definitely recommend!
