We arrived at the hotel and everything went pretty fast.. We got the 2cards but only one of them was working and we had to get them reactivated every single day. Funny thing is that we could ask any staff member to reactivate the card and when It was a new person that never saw our faces before he did it without asking any question or ID. Totally unsafe. We asked to get synthetic pillows by email prior our arrival and we didn't get them. We asked the following day in the morning at the reception and still nothing.. I finally went down to the reception with the pillow and I've been told to go get them myself in a different unoccupied room. He literally made a room access card gave it to me and told me to go... What kind of service is this? We forgot to mention that the room temperature was horrible (hotter inside than outside) but we got at least a micro fan (as big as an open hand) to blow the hot air around. The bedding was horrible starting from the bed sheets that fit the bet width at it's perfect centimeter (don't even think about extra duvet to share) and finishing with a mattress that is as hard as rock you'll end up with back pain and you'll wake up every time your partner moves as the bed was 140cm width... The hotel's room itself is old looking not as advertised on the website. It is an overpriced hotel (we've been to other places in Fribourg cheaper and who had a way better quality of bedding and services) It's not even really clean as the head shower has to me. Never been washed (check out the pictures) And by night you'll have to deal with all the party people in front of the hotel showing up with their car (the neighborhood is not making you feel safe by night) To finish on a positive note I would say that the 2 good thing about this hotel (that I will never visit again) are : The hair dryer is above standard expectations The location.
One of the most horrible hotel experiences I had in the past ten years. Imagine Hotel Milles Collines in Kigali, but without any renovations since the 70ties. The rooms are sticky and hot, because there is no a/c. I have been staying there two days with outside temperatures of 33 C. Obviously no a/c in the whole building because I asked to change the room. In the evening I saw a cockroach walking through the room. The beds are laid through and in the morning you feel like having slept on a bus the whole night. Outside are several loud bars which party til 3 am at night. Agter a hot swety night one would like to have breakfast on the nice terasse, However this was closed at 7:30 am because they didn't manage to clean it. So again stucked in a pretty hot breakfast room. Butter packages were fluid because of the warmth. The hotel offers free and paid internet access, even though the free access is so slow, that you hardly can use it. It seem to be also impossible to change it later. This hotel is an embarrassment for the elsewise nice city of Fribourg. I definitely recoomend to not stay there.
Honestly very disappointed by this hotel. Single room is tiny, similar to what you get in Asian countries with single bed. The carpet floor is horrible and not in a good shape. Internet doesn't work, it's like back in 56k era, thank god for mobile 4G. Working and doing call conferences is impossibile. Minibar bottle of water is 5.5.- for 33cl. Window is so dirty I barely see outside. Room temperature is like 29C, have to sleep with the window open. Location is good but this town is tiny, there is no bad location.
The hotel is located right in the middle of Fribourg. It has an Irish Pub right across from the entrance and a very cool bar that is in the same building. The bar is frequented by students and has excellent value for money. The rooms however are not what I would have expected. My room was tiny. There was just enough room to walk between the single bed and a small desk on either side of the room. There was also a dividing door between my room and the next, which has no soundproofing - you can hear the people next door opening a plastic bag. The night I was there it was quite loud till 3am due to the two popular bars and the people in the room next door got up at 4:30am. Allthough the staff was friendly and professional I have to give a poor rating to this hotel.
If you like to walk this hotel is practically a few walking minutes from every where. The rooms are clean and the is really nice. Only thing which may disturb some people if you room is on the north side you may here the club which is next to the hotel.
The hotel is just 5 minutes walking distance from the train station, if you go via shopping mall. Not too noisy. Fre WiFi is OK for voice calls via internet, but not enough for video calls. Great breakfast with a decent choice of warm meals
Walking to the hotel from the nearby Fribourg station the first glance of the high rise hotel is not good. "What have I booked?" was the question going through my mind. However, that was the only negative thing about this hotel. The staff, rooms and breakfast are everything you would expect from a NH hotel. Location is perfect and you can walk in to the old town within minutes and find some great bars and restaurants.
I stayed in this hotel for two nights while on a visit to the university. I only stayed before in Switzerland in 2 and 3 star hotels which left a lot to be desired, so by comparison, this one was great. The room was spacious and clean and the bathroom very nice. The only thing was that in the morning, at 6 o'clock i was able to hear the traffic and was up earlier than wanted to. What impressed me most was the breakfast. The choice of fruit was great, the viennoiserie perfect, the cheese absolutely great. Here I had the best coffee ever. I had ristretto (three of them each morning, actually). Overall, a great experience.
Rooms are not fresh and tidy as they should be, no kettle in the room and the reception is not answering the phone for hours !!!! we tried to call so many times to inform about a late arrival and NOBODY picked up the phone. Unacceptable !
Stayed here for three nights while visiting the University. Pleasant staff. Pleasant room, though would have liked brighter lighting bedside and in the bathroom. Great location near train station (and lots of transportation and restaurants nearby). Good price (I paid about $100 a night for a double room). Didn't try the restaurant ($27 for breakfast seemed way too much, even for this area). Two complaints -- the bed was not that comfortable (foam was too soft for my taste). And the Internet speed was very slow (clocked it at 500 Kbps download, 160 Kbps upload).
