Comfortable rooms and bed. Delicious breakfast. Parking included. Easy walk to old town (well worth a visit). Public transport voucher (and directions back to hotel) very handy. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel to fellow travelers
Jardin Hotel was undergoing construction when we arrived. The reception provided great customer service, and the room was really spacious, quiet, and had comfortable beds. The bathroom looked a little tired but it was extremely clean. The location was okay, not in the touristy area, but very close to the tram station (Line 9), which you could catch right off the train station. The room didn't have air conditioning. It was very hot when we stayed but that's very typical of European hotels. Breakfast was acceptable which included cold items and great coffee. I'd recommend this hotel for a short stay.
The host was very friendly. The staff was professional. The breakfast was good. The ticket for public transportation was ver helpful by moving in the city. We had a big and comfortable room . The bathroom is big and very clean. The simply private parking is remarkable !!!
We had three nights here in late August and I really can't fault it. We arrived very late and the hotel were very helpful in giving us instructions on getting in and getting our key on arrival. Breakfast is very tasty, fresh continental style. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is about 15/20 minutes walk into the old town but it's a lovely walk through the Rosegarten Park with amazing views and then down past the Bear Pit and over the bridge into Old Bern so you effectively see lots of the sights as you go. The hotel is being refurbished and the rooms were very clean and modern, great bathroom with powerful shower. Previous reviews stated it was a bit noisy but we only had machinery working one day outside and they didn't start til well after 9am so no issues for us on that. All in all a great stay and of like us you were going to he close to the Post Finance Arena it's about a seven minute walk.
Hotel Jardin is a comfortable three star hotel situated in Bern city centre. Rooms are decent and recently refurbished. The service is very good, especially by the reception staff. Work at the hotel wasn't finished however and we had some issues with this. That made our stay no more than average unfortunately. Our stay lasted a couple of days and was fine I suppose. We chose the hotel because the city centre is in walking distance and parking next to the hotel is free. Also because the hotel had just reopened after refurbishing all the rooms. Rooms were very neat still, beds were good and the bathroom clean. There is a kettle to make coffee or tea, but no minibar. Wifi was fine. Breakfast as usual, good selection although the kitchen staff was slow to refill the breakfast buffet. Then the bad stuff that seriously affected our stay. The restaurant and bar are closed permanently. Construction is ongoing as the hotel expands. The restaurant area is being converted into hotel rooms. We weren't aware of this, perhaps we missed some fine print somewhere. Jardin is still advertised as a hotel AND restaurant, also on Tripadvisor. It also advisertises it has just reopened after refurbishment. You don't expect them to be in the middle of it still. Athough the reception staff tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible, we were hindered by the ongoing construction. Workers were tearing down the restaurant. We could hear them starting work early in the morning when we were still in bed. At breakfast in the old bar area there was already a lot of noise. Also workers came in and interacted somewhat loudly with the kitchen staff (getting coffee?) which did not go unnoticed by the guests. All in all, Hotel Jardin will be a great hotel when all the work is finished. The service there is very good. But it looks like its finding its new way still. For example, instead of a bar there is a fridge on the second floor now where you can get cold drinks but it was almost empty and the selection very limited. To compensate for a minibar there was a smaller fridge were guests could place their items. Looking inside, we found bottles in plastic bags (baby food?) and even some sausages. Who's going to cook sausages in their hotel room without kitchen facilities? You would expect something like this in student dormitory but not in a quality hotel that charged us 180 euros per night.
Excellent hotel in quite area, the reception was very supportive and helpful with very good advices about the places to visit. It was our first time visiting Switzerland and we left with amazing memories and fotos!
We had to arrive at 10 pm but our flight delays. So at the 12 pm , in the middle of the night, we park the car in the front of the hotel and i see a man looking for somebody; that somebody was us. He and his colegue stayed 2 hour after the program just to wait for us. We has very nice to us, very friendly! The room was very clean, modern, we slept like a baby in that comy bed.
We were very happy with our two-day stay at this hotel. While the hotel is not right in the centre of Bern, it was easy enough to find from the railway station, which involved a pleasant tram ride for about 10 minutes or so followed by a short walk of another 5-10 minutes from the tram stop. Swiss public transport is universally excellent so the experience was thoroughly pleasant. The family that run the hotel are very friendly, helpful and brimming with goodwill. We felt genuinely welcome and they were only too pleased to engage in conversation and give helpful sightseeing tips when they were free to do so. The room was very clean and comfortable in every respect. The breakfast, served downstairs in one of the dining rooms, was very good indeed; the bread (which they get fresh every day) was excellent, and this was indeed one instance where we 'could have lived by bread alone'! They also had plenty of nice cold cuts, cheese, and pretty much anything else one would have wanted for an abundant breakfast. All of these fine attributes represented good value for money and would certainly suffice to entice us into another stay there when we are next in Bern.
Very nice hotel and about 25 minutes walking to the city and about 10 minutes by tram, a short bock to Coop grocery store. Hotel has a restaurant on the ground floor, we didn't have a chance to try. Check-in and check-out was fast, we got a couple passes to use public transportation which is just right behind the hotel, parking is free, the hotel staffs are very nice, very friendly. The only problem we had was a slight odor, we think someone must have smoked in the room and it is non-smoking hotel.
We were driving back home and stopped here for one night. There are parking places available and the tram stop to go to the city center is close by. The city center is not far (no more than ten minutes by tram) and you have free riding with the hotel reservation. You don't have to go into the middle of the town traffic to go to the hotel and it is also very easy to get back to the motorway when you leave. The place was quiet, the room a little bit bigger than average and very clean. People at the check in were nice and helpful. You have to lift your luggage a flight of stairs up but they offer help should you need it. In short, we found the hotel comfortable and the situation very convenient.
