We reserved a non-smoking room. The room stunk of cigarette smoke. Complained to front desk who said she would send up a maid. I told her that would not solve the problem unless she was going to clean every surface and replace drapes, etc. No further help was offered. Upon checkout I spoke to a supervisor. Yes I should have done that originally. Supervisor offered us a box of chocolates which we declined.
Marriott JW Cannes is such a wonderful hotel! Very beautiful, prestigious, amazing rooms, very good location (by the beach) and a great breakfast. In addition, the service was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. the staff was so nice, helpful and lovely. Maxim on the reception is one of the best. You got to come here, we have enjoyed a lot!
It was our first time to Cannes. We have stayed often in Nice and decided to try another Seaside city. We were not disappointed. We were there for three nights October 6th through the 8th and we would return. We were greeted by two great front desk staff members. We had just flown all night and were really tired. Both Maxime and Leina were very helpful in getting us into our room so we could get some rest. Once we woke up and got our bearings the both of them could not have been more helpful during the rest of our stay in guiding us to the places to see and to eat. Thank you Maxime and Leina for be so friendly and making our anniversary trip so enjoyable.
Often stayed at this Property. Good wether for business or leisure. The Rooms with Sea views, even partial, are of good size. The hotel lacks a nice coffee lounge/restaurant but has a very nice open air terrace on the Lobby level. Understand it is soon to be converted into a Shop. Staff are very helpful and location of the Property excellent. A nicer JW Marriott property.
Alright, so let’s get something out there right away, this hotel is in a beautiful European/ French city. Yes the style may not be as modern as other hotel critics may want, but know where your traveling to. As a Marriott Platinum traveler, we stay in a lot of hotels and this one was both fantastic on the inside and outside. Your in Cannes, and your situated in the perfect/best/prime location in town. The rooms are clean and the AC works, big AC guy here. The front of the hotel is the beach, which I have read other complaints, but it is well worth the 40/60$ you will spend. Your on vacation, get the third row and a bottle of wine and enjoy yourself. We stayed in a king room, and had a sea view room, which was fantastic. But dark in the room, but your only in the hotel to sleep or get ready. As a Native NYer, location is key. This hotel is in walking distance to all shops, the train (I prefer trains to cars so I know exact times, and pro tip, there is a Starbucks at train station,) the ferry (how you can get to st tropes), and of you time it right in summer the fire work show. The concierge are fantastic, listen to them, and the breakfast is spot on. Great hotel, better location, amazing city, and so thankful/happy we spent five nights here in August 2019.
We returned to the JW Marriott last weekend and had the most amazing break. We have stayed in most of the hotels on the Croisette but the staff at the JW Marriott make it the best on strip. Fady in Guest Services really looks after us as returning guests and makes us feel so welcome every time we visit. The hotel is closing soon for a big renovation project and we are already planning our return in 2020! The best location and staff in Cannes!
If you want to enjoy Cannes and have a pleasant (and clean) hotel, do NOT choose this one. Check in: extremely rude and lackluster. I was offered a choice of €8 at the restaurant or 1000 points for Marriott Platinum... it felt like I was checking in at a holiday inn... or a motel on the side of the road. The ‘front desk’ ‘manager’ Fady was extremely rude to me. I had to ask to speak to somebody else as they wouldn’t honor the Marriott rules for upgrade. Because of my status, I am entitled to upgrades up to suites if available at check in. They had plenty rooms available but it became an issue when I asked for this. Then another manager, even ruder, named Sebastian was called to deal with me. It felt like I was bartering at a cheap market for trinkets. Not a five star experience. They prefer to leave a guest unhappy than do their best. The rooms are in desperate need of updates. Please see the slew of photographs I captured. It was disgusting to be offered a room in this state. Flies were coming out of the sink. The tub, dirty. Every single fixture in the bathroom was rusty. This is not five stars. The carpets in the rooms are stained and old and need updating. The doors and wood surfaces worn. Everywhere you look you will see the signs of age and wear and tear. The outside had a horrible purple (yes purple) light all night long. The balcony lights cannot be turned off. I asked that they turn off mine and they told me they couldn’t just turn mine off. Look at the Carlton hotel, outside my windows, the balconies had the lights off by 11pm. Very uncomfortable. This hotel is geared towards trashy tour groups, we saw several checkin in when we were in the lobby. Please do NOT stay here. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more at Hotel Martinez, where you will not be disappointed.
745 nights in the past 10 years staying in the Marriott hotels around the world. JW Marriott Cannes: No assistance from doormen with bags, confused check-in staff, poor quality rooms, Holiday Inn style breakfast with miniature plates. Easily and by far the worst Marriott.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Very good location, comfortable rooms, fairly nice facilities. Moreover, the staff were generally very helpful and accommodating. For instance, during our six-night stay, the hotel first assigned us a room on the second floor (in the category we booked). Unfortunately, several guests in rooms near ours (including the room next to ours') returned to the floor at 5 a.m. each night, yelling and slamming doors in the hallways and in their rooms. After the second night of this, the hotel moved us to another room in a superior category, with a much nicer view. To be clear, the hotel didn't create the problem, but it took prompt and appropriate measures to correct it. I would stay here again.
We were in November when the crowds have gone away. It took them 15 min to get heater started in our room. I was in for a conference and I assume they had a sudden influx of guests requiring locked rooms to be opened.
