The Montaigne Hotel and Spa was an excellent place to stay on our recent trip to the South of France. Travelling with a seven month old baby was always going to be different from what we were used to but the staff at the hotel couldn't have been more accommodating. The cot was ready in our lovely room, with towels and a tiny bear for our baby. The staff on the reception desk assisted us with all of our needs and the valet parking man (sorry, I can't remember your name) was fantastic. He spoke excellent English (thankfully he didn't have to endure my poor French) Excellent all round. Thank you
Lovely hotel, well positioned about 10 mins walk from the sea front. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped (safe, fridge, kettle, free WiFi etc.). As can be expected in Cannes, the prices for drinks were high (10 Euros for a small beer) so we didn't drink there much. The buffet breakfast was fine. We didn't use the spa or swimming pool. If the pool had been an outdoor pool we probably would have used it. Only problem we had was our room keys that seemed to need programming every day. i felt a bit frustrated when i was told that our cards were for another room and that we both must have picked up someone elses room key, even though it had worked (albeit briefly) earlier that day.
We have just returned from staying at the Hotel Montaigne for a week. The hotel is excellent, the staff are very good, nothing is too much trouble, the breakfast is delicious, the rooms are clean. The bathroom had a deluxe shower with all the various toiletries, coffee making facilities, fridge and safe in the room. Plus a great steam room, pool and Jacuzzi. It is ideally placed for the promenade, old town and the new town. All in all very good, but be aware the bar is expensive.
4* hotel in a great location. Close to seafront La Croissette . Beds very comfortable. On the downside only a few rooms have a balcony. Every room has wifi. The restaurant is very good and the prices comparable to local restaurants but the food is fresh cooked and very tasty. Limited mains but again all fresh ingredients. The restaurant is surprisingly under used but I suspect this is due to guests seeking more nightlife. There is a great spa also. The staff in this hotel are very helpful and polite.
Very nice hotel close to the center. Parking costs 22 Euros. Free internet. Breakfast was very good, big choice, tasty. Room was bigger than average room you will find in France. Great bed, soft pillows, had good night sleep. Has internal pool and spa. Generally well priced. Staff is pleasant.
I have just returned from staying at the Hotel Montaigne for a 6 night stay in July, I was very impressed and had a great stay. After reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor I was apprehensive of my stay due to the mixture of both positive and negative reviews. Upon arrival (11pm) we were welcomed by very friendly reception staff who showed us up to our room and explained how the air-con etc. worked. Our room had a hand-written note from the hotel Manager along with a gift of perfume, soap and some French macaroon's which I thought was a lovely touch. The room was presented lovely and the housekeeping staff were fantastic at cleaning the room daily, providing complimentary bottled water in the fridge daily, fresh towels etc. Location wise the hotel is placed in a quiet side street just a short walk from the main town where there are loads of lovely restaurants, shops, beaches etc. Reviews I had read mentioned a busy main road, which is true but there are zebra crossings which lead you straight over towards the main town so this wasn't a problem at all. The spa side of the hotel was a lovely extra complimentary experience with a pool, jacuzzi and steam room available until 9.00pm. It was very clean, modern and never too busy. I would also like to make a special thank you to the very friendly Theodore (reception) as he was very helpful in helping us find suitable restaurants, things to do in the town etc.
We opted to stay here to explore the area as first timers to South of France for a 7 night stay for our honeymoon. We were glad breakfast was included so we didn't have to rush out and find food (I like to eat very regularly). On arrival, check-in was standard, not overly polite nor rude. Our room was supposed to be a superior room - the only thing superior about it was the size of the bed, the reason we booked this room was for the balcony - which was very unimpressive and looked out to the back of some unloved buildings and over the restaurant terrance. Room was clean, but you had to put the kettle on the floor as the lead was so short. The room did also have a small fridge and a safe. However the shower cubicle was not water proof and soaked the floor every time. Housekeeping staff were the most impressive part of the hotel! Breakfast was disappointing,,, hotplate foods were barely warm let alone hot, everyday something was not available (brown bread, orange juice, the one machine that made a reasonable espresso), The restaurant had a very limited menu, drinks in the bar were expensive but service was okay. I booked a treatment but when I arrived I was told that the girl didn't come in today so my treatment was cancelled. The entrance to the hotel looks across to a building site, but location was two minutes from the SNCF station and five-ten minutes to the main front. If you have not visited Cannes before - its quite hilly once you are away from the front. Maybe more suitable to a short business stay.
We stayed just one night in this hotel and i am happy about it. First we were welcomed from a nice receptionist very nice, the hall is very normal but much better than the room situation. Once we arrived at our floor (4th) the hotel was very different, dirty walls and red carpet, the room was full of dust (probably because nobody had been sleeping there for a while) and a very strong smell from the sheets bothered both of us for the whole night. Our throats and noses were burning and we are not allergic to anything. But that chemical thing irritated both of us. The furniture is pretty basic but ok. The restroom smelled of sewer, very annoying for a 4* hotel. We didn't see the spa or terrace because we left as soon as we could. Another note: upon our arrival we were told that the breakfast was included in our reservation, I was a bit surprised because we usually don't include breakfast in our reservations since we like to have it outside but we travel a lot so I thought that maybe I confused the reservation details. We took 3 pain su chocolate and 2 coffees and I got asked at the reception for 40 € extra for the breakfast ( at the table they asked me to sign a paper where the total in big was 0€ so I was really surprised) we explain that we got told by their colleague told us that was included etc but not even the hotel manager tried to listen to me and kept asking WHY I DIDNT CHECK THE DETAILS OF MY RESERVATION IN A VERY UNEDUCATED WAY.
Well placed In the middle of town. However, the traffic is frenetic and must be terrifying for those with own transport. Thankfully we were in a coach party which meant the heroic driver took the brunt of manoeuvring difficulties. We had no idea where the nearest parking was to be found. Even walking across the road needed great care. The hotel was very comfortable, and the staff helpful, friendly and efficient, the rooms were clean, comfortable and typical. Our status as 'coach party' guests meant that meals were somewhat 'samey' but ferfectly tasty and nutritious, with a reasonably interesting selection. We made use of the small pool and sauna area which was functional and unglamorous.
I have just returned from a 5 night stay at Hotel Montaigne. We chose it because of its location, price and value for money. We flew to Nice, and used the bus to travel To Cannes. The bus drops you a 5 minute walk from the Hotel, its very easy to find. The Hotel is located on a nice quiet side street, with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby, and the centre of town a 2 minute walk. The Hotel is very bright, clean and spacious. They have not spared any expense in its furniture, design and layout. The Staff here are what would make me chose this Hotel again and again, every member works hard to make you feel like a VIP, and they are clearly well trained in customer service. The bar and restaurant are very welcoming, and the food is superb. Prices were not that expensive compared to some of the eateries in Cannes. The Hotel also boasts a fantastic Pool and Spa area, we only used it once unfortunately due to time. Our bedroom was on the first floor, it was a Deluxe with a Veranda, and had plenty of space for our 5 night break. Breakfast was an open buffet, supplying both a cooked and continental option. Overall, we cannot thank the Hotel enough for making our stay so memorable.
