We stayed here for 5 nights and our overall experience is very positive. Our deluxe King-room was absolutely comfortable, spacious, and very clean. Loved the bed and the fireplace was so nice. Bathroom was clean, enough room to put our stuff, good light, nice toilettries. Staff was very friendly, all the time. The keycode to enter the room was also nice, no loose keycards or keys. Our room was on the main floor, with a great view on the mountains. We were not bothered by the trains, slept perfectly. Restaurants and shops are all only minutes away, very convenient. However... breakfast was only until 9 am. We are on a vacation, people, we love to start the day relaxing, having a nice breakfast in a nice place to sit. Most of the times it was so crowded, we did not even had a place to sit. Breakfast was okay, and no more than that. But, for over 200 $ per night, I do not want to do any dishes in a hotel! Not a great way to start the day. I must say, sometimes a staff member took all the dirty dishes, but still. I am away from home, so I don't want to deal with any household chores, please... Parking is another issue. Stalls are pretty small. One day we could hardly get in, because a pick-up was parked right in the curve. We had to back up and our -small nissan- could hardly pass. Returning late at night will mean: no parking spots left on the premises. Improve breakfast and arrange better parking spots, and we'll give you a 5-star review next time.
After dinner we returned to the hotel at 10pm and there were no spots left, I went inside to ask for suggestions and the desk person said he would move the company vehicle. As I rounded the tight corner of the building I see a car coming the wrong way. She must have seen a car leave the driveway and decided to cut in. But it is an extremely tight one way lane and since the parking is pull in on a slant she was forced to back out and I got my spot. The 2 cars behind me plus the one who had to back out were going to have to find street parking. But the location is off a busy highway so I dont know what the alternative would be. The room was very nice and spacious. The bathroom was big as well with plenty of sink counter. I appreciated the bright white lights in the bathroom to see yourself. The lodge is only 2 stories but no elevator. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and I heard no noise during the night but I use a white noise machine. The cotton sheets were weird and must be some blended material as the sheets had pulls, snags and pills which bothered me. I gave 4 stars because check in was easy, room was spotless and quiet and the bed comfy. We missed breakfast because it ended at an early 9am. I would not stay here again only because of the parking situation. I got a little stressed having to drive around the building then to go in and ask for a spot, and then facing a car going the wrong way almost boxing me in and losing the only spot available.
The Rooms are very big and clean. Beautiful big tv. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. The view was amazing . We loved it very much and we will definitely return. We enjoyed the Rocky mountains soap from the hotel. We actually got two big bottles to bring with us. The hotel is 30 minutes drive from Banff.
Looks can be deceiving. This lodge looks tiny from the outside, but once you’re inside the inviting warm lobby with a hearth and shown to your spacious room - you’re in for a treat! My wife and I recently stayed here. We did not expect the room to be spacious and truly furnished with a comfy king sized bed (such a luxury!). The room is clean and boasts spa-scented, locally produced toiletries. The breakfast is continental and provides enough (healthy) energy to get you through your morning activities. This is served in a common area that can be utilised to plan your activities or to allow your mind to wonder away at the views. The nearby communal ‘kitchen’ allows you access to 24hr on demand hot water for tea and other hydration needs. Overall, a pleasant stay and a great way to explore Canmore and neighbouring Banff (if it’s booked out). Completely recommended!
Fantastic! Good location, not too far from downtown and close to highway 1. It is comfortable the minute you step into the front lobby area. The rooms are spacious - we had a king size bed. The breakfast is simple but welcoming and is situated upstairs in a lovely room.
Plus, the rooms a very nice, clean, and quiet - which is surprising as the train runs by very close. Good simple continental breakfast. I like having code to enter your room - better than losing your key.
Our stay at that hotel felt very unpleasant and disappointing for us. Not only did we find out on the second day, that the roomservice only emptied the trash bin and left the rest of the room uncleaned, the toilet seat was not fixed and still loose, the breakfast was a joke for a place that charges well over 300 CAD a night. The room you offer as deluxe is nothing more than a standard motel room. I booked well ahead and asked for a room on top floor, what did I get, room 107 with a view of the fence of the parking lot. To make things worse CP Trains are running through the room day and night. So the place is well overpriced and overrated. Stay away and sleep somwhere else in Canmor. There are places away from the railway line.
My spouse bought me a birthday getaway which included a one night stay here... Not so great of a stay.. the people across from me kept opening and closing their door till 130am and not to mention the loud yelling... the train was loud, heard it everytime.. the parking is not suitable for a 1/2 ton pickup... and breakfast was toast or bagel... probably wont ever go back
Quaint little hotel, close to the town of Canmore. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast consisted of bagels, toast, fruits, cereal and yoghurt which is really all you need to start your day. Many have commented about the train that passes by. Keeps your windows closed at night and you won’t hear a thing. If I could offer up a couple of suggestions to the hotel manager. While beds and pillows are very comfy, suggest replacing one of the pillows with a firm one as not everyone likes soft pillows. In addition, perhaps offer breakfast starting at 6 vs 7 am as many guest like to get on the road early. Lastly, window screens should be cleaned on a regular basis. Whenever I’m back n Canmore I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Good value, friendly staff, centralized location.
My daughter and I stayed at Basecamp Lodge from Aug 17-20. The room was spacious, modern, clean and had a great view with a little balcony to sit out on. After reading reviews I had called and asked for a room at the front due to the train tracks so noise was not an issue . The beds and pillows, well lets say it was the best sleep I've had in ages..super comfortable! The virtual check in and having a room code was very handy. They also sent you a text and you could communicate with the front desk for any issues. I couldn't change channels on the tv and the young man at the desk asked if we wanted him to come up and he sorted it out asap. The stairs were a bit tricky with a suitcase but other than that it only goes to the second floor so unless you have mobility issues would not be a problem. The breakfast was nice but it would be nice if it stayed out a litlle later than 9 and they could use a few more small tables to eat it. The location is excellent too. An easy walk to the lovely downtown of Canmore and a grocery store is also close by. They had bikes you could sign out too and you can go ride on the Legacy Trail. Unfortunately we didnt' have time but nice to have them available should you want to go for a ride. Overall I'd highly recommend this hotel and staying in Canmore over Banff.
