Shabby place far away from the beach with worn down facilities, poor service and hostile staff. The rooms were stinking with foul smell. ACs made a roaring and rattling sound so they had to be switched off. Bed sheets had not been changed when we checked in. Wifi was promised but never worked. One of us fell sick after the breakfast. Foul smelling bread slices with oil soaked half-cooked indian bread was all that was available. They did not even have a toaster to toast the bread slices. Tea was to be had in unhygienic cups that had never been cleaned. On bringing to notice of hotel staff, they started fighting with us instead of rectifying the issues. Elsewhere in the hotel, you would see unruly crowd smoking everywhere and howling/ shouting at you, hurling abuses. Not a safe place. We had planned for 3-4 days but had to leave the place within a day fearing for our health and safety.
Nice and comfortable . Lots of privacy because this is. Very big resort in Goa . Many pool which clean and big . Very nice atmosphere to relax and stay . Food is good . No tension of anything or not any kind of objection from staff . Very good location and surrounding environment
having read reviews before we went I was ready to cancel and go somewhere else but decided to give it a go not half as bad as people make out we got a 2 bedroom room in block B at the back of Newtons the rooms are very big and clean yes there are no cooking facilities as when built lots of people privatley bought them and they had these facilites put in when you book with a travel agent you are bed and breakfast so not classed as self catering the bedding and towels are grubby looking off white but they have been washed people complaining that they never got clean towels all that you need to do is go to housekeeping and they will give you some or send soneone to your room with them and they will also change your pool towels for clean ones whenever you want breakfast isn't very good as people said eggs, eggs and toast. we used 2 of the pools and found them both clean this hotel just needs a bit of tlc eg new towels, bedding, cups, plates, sunbeds and it will be a big improvement Ideal location for beach, shops and restaurants
We found mice dropping son the sofa on arrival. There was no cooker although it was supposed to be an apartment! Needs renovating. The chef made up for all the disappointments. He cooked for us especially breakfast as we have a special diet. Thank you, so much. If you can get really cheap fine as it is 15 minutes walk to the beach, very handy.
Last time i stayed here was wid my parents. Stayed in abassador suite, good rooms nice location nd good service. But this time we booked executive suite nd such a horrible experience i had.. I was surprized coz i told all my friends to stay here.. Flush not wrking in toilets. No jets in flush to use. Air condition in bad shape, tv not working it was showing no channel. No water given for two days of stay. Nd on top of that wen explained to reception dey didnt take any action.
Thankfully it was just for 1 night as we were staying with friends at their apartment. Arrived early hours taken to our room spacious but in need of a refurb stuck in the 70's. Why have a kitchen sink with no kitchen at least the fridge was ok . Strange set up for shower & toilet Bedroom curtains tatty & dirty , bed hard . The breakfast area stained table cloth's, cups didn't eat the breakfast. The pool looked dirty & the sun beds covered in bird poo. Not a true reflection of Candolim
What a disaster of a hotel! Filthy! Extremely poor facilities, dirty towels that were not replaced unless we pestered the hotel staff daily! Dirty dated sunbeds with very few umberellas! Dirty swimming pools and the general smell of sewrage was extremely offensive! Only indian cuisine catered for but if you like eggs everyday for breakfast? Then its the place for you.. The worst hotel that I have ever stayed in! Please be warned!!
I have been to the Highland Beach many times mainly because it is in the ideal place. If you dont upgrade to the 2 bedroom suites you may be placed in one of the older rooms which to be honest are not very nice, I have just returned we had 3 x2 bedroom suites, all very very nice rooms, I did however send an email request asking for rooms in the new part of the complex prior to arrival. The housekeeping and cleaning were adequate but not up to the standard of previous years, but not bad enough to ruin your holiday. Breakfast is eggs, cooked anyway, and toast if you dont like that there a numerous restaurants and shacks where you can get full English for a small cost. To sum up if you want a hotel at a decent price in the ideal Candolim situation and you are not expecting 5 star accommodation, remember it is only graded as a 2 star then the hotel will do fine
very basic hotel. grounds are lovely but rooms very very dated. My towels were changed daily for another freshly laundered dirty one. I spoke to the manager 4 times to request clean tablecloths at the breakfast tables but to no avail. He didn't take any complaints seriously. On a good note the breakfast staff seemed a happy bunch.
This was our 5th visit to this hotel, thought I knew what to expect, but the room that they gave us took the biscuit. I have asked for 1 room change before because the room was filthy, they moved us to a newer, cleaner room, so on arrival at 2am they gave us a room in the old block overlooking the main swimming pool and reception, fear crept into me, and on seeing the room it was justified, it was something from the hammer house of horrors, we went straight to reception to complain and they shrugged their shoulders, they were not interested, we spent the night in that room and spoke to the manager and he told us that we could only be moved in 3 days. The horror room had filthy walls, the bathroom had a very small vanity sink with one tap, cold water only to wash your hands, the kitchen table had no chairs, there were no chairs on the balcony, the furniture was so old and stained, it gave me the shivers every time I looked at it. The best bit were the lights, it was strip lighting which flashed on and off constantly, the other lights had very low voltage and it was like living in a cave, you could not do your hair and makeup unless it was by candlelight! After three days we had to fight for a room change, reception staff told us that Thomas Cook only had economy rooms and if we wanted to move it would be an extra 3000 rupees per night!, at which point I marched into the managers room and demanded we be moved, we where then told we could be moved but not until the afternoon, so we wasted a day waiting and moving. I had emailed the hotel direct to ask for a low floor as I have a back injury, the first room was on the 4th floor as was the second room, climbing 63 stairs after a day on the beach with a back injury was no fun, hell will freeze over before I would go to this hotel again, they are more geared up to the Indian tourists who now flock to this hotel
