Copthorne Hotel Cameron Highlands3.5 out of 5.0

When I first stayed in this hotel, it was called Hotel Equatorial, among the FIRST 5 stars hotels in Cameron Highlands to be built in the 1980s. Couldn't afford to stay there then as I was young & poor. Stayed there 10 years back. Not too impressed then. Was surprised that Copthorne took over 4 years ago. The TOP management must SERIOUSLY look into the whole hotel. Upkeep is poor. The male toilet was a SHOCK!!! Robin Leach (life style of the Rich & Famous) would NOT pee if he visits the MALE Toilets at Lobby Level. The cleanliness is worst than the predecessor. I wonder how's the bath in the bedrooms? Copthorne is an established Brand name and reputable in Singapore for a high standard of service & quality. Time for Copthorne Cameron Highland to live up to its BRAND!!!
After a long travel I prefer to stay in the room. Room was ok but the toilet was dirty. So I plan to have a quick swim and check their swimming pool, it was close where the signage stated open until 7pm. Breakfast was so so with variety of choices of local food. I had a short stay and lucky to had one.
I stayed there overnight for a quick tour of Cameron Highlands. Hotel has everything you need for tourist comfort with good restaurant facilities and excellent generous buffet breakfast. Hotel caters for group tours as well as singles and families. Like a lot of places these days it suffers from noisy guests so bring your ear plugs just in case. The only drawback is that it's located quite a few kilometres away from the main action and if you don't have a car you have to rely on taxis and occasional shuttles - no Uber yet!
This is the 2nd time we stayed at this hotel with my family. The hotel is old but is good location of hotel in hill. As it is on the highest point of the mountain, it has a fantastic mountainous environment view. Some of the attractions just outside the hotel are butterfly farm, bee farm and strawberry farm, Kea Morning Market. And also can walk to Cameron Square from there. The hotel breakfast is with good selecton of local food. The staff were friendly. With the cool weather, we actually enjoyed our holiday in Cameron Highlands.
The hotel has excellent views and the rooms are ok but the hotel itself needs some work. The massage was definitely worth it at the inhouse spa. You are away a bit from the centre of Cameron Highlands which isn't a bad thing. Breakfast is extensive and the dinner in the restaurant is good as well.
I stayed for 2 nights from July 1 - 2. Booked five rooms for separate family members on a vacation. For the very reasonable price we paid, we got an ok room with clean sheets, towels and coffee-maker (with coffee/tea supplies) and an in-room safe. Missing are the pen/paper, hotel magazine (in fact, there weren't any paper materials in the room at all) and general feeling of welcome (even an in-room short note to welcome guests with some information on how to make their stay more enjoyable makes a huge difference). The room has free wifi. The shower area could be cleaner, all in all, you get what you paid for. Budget conscious? Go for it. 5-star traveler? Look elsewhere.
Location of this hotel was good with variety of restaurants surround the hotel. The choices of breakfast also great. The only issues were the room (2 bedroom apartment). The front door can't close/open properly(we have to do it in the hard way). The bathroom door at the second room was automatic lock, and we almost stucked inside the bathroom for almost 5 mins, plus the drainage tub was so slow. But if you don't mind these kind of issues and just want to rest and sleep, this hotel is ok for you.
I come to Cameron annually and for the past 2 years, this have been our choice. It is an old building but we want when we are in Cameron is cool wearher and this is the place! Im not sure about the apartments but the hotel rooms are decent. just hope they change the pillows!
This hotel is located at the highest point at Brinchang Camerons. Pros # Accomodation has both hotel and apartrment concept. # Strawberry Farms, markets and eateries are all within walking distance, # The famous Raajus strawberry farm is located nearby. # Mossy Forest is also at a walking distance. # Most of the hotel rooms have been refurbished except for the Superior Rooms. # The cool weather can be felt esp in the evening's and nighttime. # Very good breakfast # Room rates are one of the best in Camerons Cons # The Apartment rooms need refurbishment
This is the hotel I always recommends to friends who ask me where to stay in CH. Best location, best strawberry farm at the door step and vegetable market nearby, as well as quiet mountainous environment. Lobby is huge and mountain station feel with its rock feature walls and very friendly staffs. Don't expect this as 4 or 5 star hotels though but all the basics are more than satisfactory. The sad thing I have seen in my 5 trips in the past 7 years is the fast developments around the hotel vicinity which no longer feels a quiet mountain station. The shopping mall and condo beside it (and more other apartments nearby) is real piss off, and the growing village behind the valley sucks away the mountains and greenery feeling. If i have super power, i would clear them all off around there and keep the hotel itself only. If you are not with kids or a need to share common space, choose the rooms or suits on main tower, which has more hotel-like feel and best views. If otherwise, you can choose the 2/3 bedroom walk up apartments surrounding the hotel. You can park car directly below your apartment but some apartments views opposite apartment. Also flooring is tiled flooring in living area which do not feels like hotel. Its all give and take.
