I have stayed here at least 10 times and each time I have had a comfortable room and a good dinner. I always enjoy their pies. Good breakfast too. Despite it being on the side of the A1, I have always had a good nights sleep.
We aimed to stop at the Sibson Hotel for whilst driving north on a Sunday afternoon. On checking the website it seemed like a much more attractive option then Peterborough or Huntingdon services so we bypassed both of these. The website advertised an attractive afternoon tea which seemed like the ideal end to our weekend away at a wedding. When we arrived at the hotel there was a large notice saying that it was closed. There was no sign of life. There was no warning of this on the website.
We needed somewhere to stay at fairly short notice enroute to a dog show and this didn't disappoint. The food in the evening was lovely and the rooms clean and well stocked with tea and coffee. The only downside was the room got so hot it was difficult to sleep, however, it is July and we shouldn't complain. We took 2 dogs with us and there was no extra charge for them. Very reasonably priced for the facilities.
A one night stop-over en-route to Scotland and it was spot on, just the place to relax, have a meal and a good night's sleep. My journey continued the next morning after a hearty full English breakfast. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean with everything to make my stay comfortable. Amber was very welcoming and helpful and the staff at breakfast greeted with an enthusiastic welcome.
We stayed here when visiting the area for a family birthday and following a recommendation. We made our booking several months in advance and went for the best room available, although still at a reasonable price for B&B. We were allocated a room which I now believe may have been the bridal suite, although when booking we weren't aware of this. The room was large and nicely furnished with a four poster bed, sofa and the largest, nicest bathroom I've seen in a B&B. Toiletries were provided and tea and coffee making facilities plus hairdryer were available as expected. Due to the reasonably close proximity to the bar it was also possible to carry drinks up to your room if you wished. Breakfast was served in the bar and was good with some variety although I would have also liked some fresh fruit or similar to start with. We were very happy with our room and the price we paid although other members of the party felt that their rooms were on the small side.
We stayed in a room in the Stibbington Suite, which was quaint and very pleasant, with lovely wooden beams. There were lots of nice touches, such as plenty of sachets to make drinks, a hair dryer and alarm clock in the drawer, extra bedding (lovely and soft), irons and ironing boards and a DVD player with films and games available. We had a delicious evening meal in the restaurant, then had some drinks in the bar area watching the wildlife in the garden. There was a lovely atmosphere and it was very relaxing. We had an excellent night's sleep- no road noise considering it's on the A1. The staff were all very friendly and we would definitely consider staying here again.
Made really welcome by Diane and the team. Lovely clean room, great food and very friendly. And no, its not noisy despite the nearby A1. It's quiet in the back rooms and apparently the front rooms are triple glazed. A definite find and great value.
We visited the Sibson Inn for dinner while staying in Peterborough. Came upon the hotel by acident really as we were travelling the wrong way along the A1! It was a lovely surprise, a real pub atomosphere and a lovely meal at reasonable prices. As a result we booked a room for our next visit in September.
Just finished a 2 night stay with my hubby and 2 of our kids, and I must say that I wish we were staying longer! This is an absolutely charming 1600s era converted farmhouse with tons of character, beautiful grounds and a real Olde English feel. There are plenty of places to stay around Peterborough, but this really hit the mark for our needs. Most others we looked at were either boring chain hotels or huge fancy (expensive!) castle-type establishments, but this was a perfect alternative. If you're looking for sleek, modern contemporary, this is not your place, but if you are looking for charming location and staff, with a relaxed atmosphere, you'll be delighted! Rooms, dining area, amenities are mostly updated, without giving up the structure and vibe of the original house. We got a "family room" #4, that technically sleeps 5, but was perfect for the 4 of us. In that room (at least), you would never know you were right off a busy highway. I'm a very light sleeper, yet I had no trouble at all in the quiet room, with comfy duvets and pillows. The staff was willing to cheerily help out with little extras my family asked for (pillows, hot chocolate, etc). The laid back style suited us perfectly. The breakfast was a typical English one, again quite laid back, but really good. The dinner pleased all of us, from my vegetarian daughter, to my carnivorous husband, to my burger eating son, to me, who generally eats light. I highly recommend the wild mushroom soup...absolutely delicious! The grounds are also picturesque and fun for families to explore, and there is a field on the side (with picnic tables) that has gorgeous grass, where we ran around and played football & Frisbee. Diane was friendly and efficient while serving, welcoming etc, as were all the staff. We will definitely be returning, during our next stay in Peterborough!
Really loved staying here. ..we booked in for dinner bed& breakfast as we were going to the Nene Valley Railway on Sunday. From beginning to end we loved it. Our room ( no 5 ) was so comfortable ..despite being next to A14 we had no noise & we slept really well. The staff were very friendly & attentive . special mention to the lovely Brett who welcomed us & chatted to us & made us feel very welcome. Also Peter & Sarah ....such a friendly bunch .Dinner was delicious & all in all we had fab comfortable stay & would love to return
