Parking lot was a bit hard to find as there was a large bus parked right in front of where you need to turn. Traveling by car as an American from London, the roads are narrow and lots of one ways. If I had been driving a bit more, most likely wouldn’t have felt a bit overwhelmed. The overall stay was great! You’re within walking distance of the cathedral and lots of local shops- food and goods. Great cafe down the road as well as a pharmacy. The room was great and dinner was amazing! Best fish n chips I had all trip! Parking lot was great once we found it! 😁

Good location but could do better

Trying to be fair with this review but it wasnt without hiccups. The hotel manager was very professional and friendly. The facilities probably need a bit of a refresh but overall cleanliness seemed good. Location was perfect but there isnt enough on site parking which is a shame. We were dissapointed the restaurant/bar wasn't more accommodating. We wanted a quick drink after checking in, there wasnt any room in the bar and we were told we weren't able to sit in the (half empty) restaurant without ordering food. Worst thing about the night was being woken up at 2am in the morning by an extremely drunk guest who was lost and tried to get into our room. There was no obvious way to get in touch with the night porter, so we had at least 30 minutes of distuption before he was led away. I assume this was a one off, and would probably stay again.

Never Again

05.21 a.m. Never again. We asked for a top floor room at time of booking because we knew about the noise issues here. Our message was acknowledged but denied. We were first floor. From 2.15 we were unable to sleep. Drunks returning from their night THUMPED up and down the stairs then continued their party in their top floor room above us (WE'D asked for top floor). At 4.30 some of their group decided to leave so THUMP BANG THUMP down the stairs, CRASH BANG at the main door as these hungover fools try to get out onto the street. Then the traffic starts getting loud from 5 am. Absolute awful night. The central location is not worth it anymore. The noise issue has been a problem every time we've stayed at the lamb, so we'd asked for the top floor in the hope of some sleep. The building is too old to handle selfish, drunk, unbelievably loud guests. I've never known stairs to be thumped so loudly! A night manager should have been monitoring this sort of behaviour at weekends. If it's not incredibly selfish, drunk guests, it's the slamming doors everywhere. We'd asked for the top floor but were denied. We'd asked for the top floor!!!!! Oh, I know they're under no obligation to accommodate our request so for that reason - never again. The zero sleep and rock hard pillows aren't worth the convenient location. We'd have slept more in the car!

So many good things to say and only one issue.

The Lamb is a fine hotel in the heart of Ely. The staff were reliably helpful, polite, and skilled. The room was clean, comfortable and big enough for me and my wife. Breakfast was well done, we had the "Full English" a couple of times and "Continental" (Cereal, fruit, yogurt) other times. Coffee was good. The dinners were ample, prepared properly and served promptly. The beer variety was good and the bartenders helpful and quick. The location of the Lamb was perfect for me. The deservedly famous Ely Cathedral (includes a Stained Glass museum) was a block away and the Ely Museum was a block in the other directions. Many shops and places to eat were nearby. The town itself is quite charming. My only concern re: the Lamb was the bathtub/shower. The tub itself seems too narrow and slippery - it felt a little unsafe for this 'in-shape' 71 year old (I'm guessing the tub is an old one that's been "redone". A much smaller issue = the instructions on how to operate the shower were incomplete.

Comfortable stay & friendly/helpful service.

Very convenient location right in the centre of town, just a 2 minute walk to the cathedral. Our room was comfortable & the staff were all friendly & helpful. Dinner was a typical pub menu and the prices were very reasonable especially with a Jan/mid-week offer. The cooked breakfast was also very good value. Our room did overlook the traffic lights/junction, but with the windows shut & curtains closed we didn't notice any traffic noise, though it might be an issue if it was summer and the windows were open.

Friendly old fashioned hotel in central Ely

Great situation near Ely cathedral. Friendly, warm & clean. Old building so repairs needed. Steep stairs and no lift, which didn’t bother us but not recommended for anyone with poor mobility. Comfortable bed, ensuite with bath, good breakfasts.

The breakfast was 1st class but the choice of real ale (even Greene King) in the bar was very poor. As Greene King is supposed to be one the country's best brewers, to only have one beer (Abbott) on was not good enough. As a result, We dined elsewhere.

Best hotel stay ive had yet.

It was a birthday treat and i couldnt have been more happier. It was near everything necessary and i didnt find it too noisy. Everyone was welcoming and professional. It was clean. Bed was so comfortable. Best night sleep either of us has had in a long time. The bathroom was spacious and the claw footed bath really added to it. Was so enjoyable to bathe at the end of a long busy day.

Lamb Hotel

Excellent central location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant serves delicious food. If it's within your budget, I recommend the steaks. We stayed in Room 2, in need of renovation: carpet is worn, the toilet needs two pumps to flush. But the most critical thing in this modern age is that there are minimum sockets for charging phones and tablets!

We had a small double on the 2nd floor. Nb no lift. Room was newly decorated, newly carpeted and the bathroom suite had new tiling. Linen was of a good quality. Bar/restaurant was very busy but rooms were quiet and warm. At this price point and in the centre of Ely it was unbeatable. Nb the hotel car park was tiny but public parking in Ely is, free so we used a nearby car park.
