We came from the metro DC area for a weekend of canoeing in the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge Area. We also brought our bikes, with plans to ride, but the weather didn't cooperate with us.
We knew that there was a launch area right outside the cottage, and we could have used that to put in our canoe, but we opted to drive over to a nearby location that we had chosen for our paddle.
The cottage was lovely, and very comfortable. We had everything we needed - the kitchen is well appointed. We went out to a great restaurant (Ava's has wonderful pizza and Italian food), but stayed in a cooked our second night. Eating out at the table in the back yard, with views of the water, and sounds from birds all around was lovely.
Cyndi is an excellent and responsive host, and made our stay perfect. There were plenty of brochures about locations of interest in the areas, which we would have utilized had we not already planned our trip fairly thoroughly.
