We arrived at noon with the printed confirmation number for 2 rooms from expedia, and they told me they could not find the reservation. The reservation was with their Hotel Stationary and a confirmation number! We had traveled 5 hours by car with children and had no place to stay? By 5 pm they gave us a room with a sofa bed, not what we had booked but by that time and in the middle of August I was almost grateful not have to sleep on a car, when the whole town is fully booked. We lost one day trying to check in... I would never recommend this hotel.
I spent a whole week at this hotel. The apartment was very small and dated. The furniture was very basic and rather flimsy. The wellness area was average with the jacuzzi only working on one of the two settings. All in all a pleasant experience, but not the best one.
Villa 81 is part of the same hotel as La Closerie, but across the road. Decor - wow! Think silver gilt paint, Liechtenstein-like prints, silver chaise longue. Absolutely loved it. Rooms and facilities are fine - coffee machines are really good. Breakfast is in La Closerie and you'll find something you like. Location good, close to racecourse; beach, town and casino all in easy walking distance. Really enjoyed it.
Great location near the beach & shops. The hotel has a small garden. Kids play her so you can't relax. The hotel is very busy probably because of the location. The hotel has an indoor pool on the ground floor. The smell of chlorine is overwhelming as soon as you approach the hotel. We ordered a taxi when we checked out. When it arrived the receptionist gave it to another guest. We were furious!
Villa 81 is part of La Closerie, but on the opposite side of the road, a bit like an annexe. Not long acquired by the Closerie group, if you want breakfast at the time of writing you have to go to the main hotel. We didnt. A heatwave when we got here but rooms cool and air conditioned. En suite bathroom well equipped with toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. Coffee machine and bottled water. Bed firm but comfortable. Ideal location for the race course which is just behind the hotel and very pretty with its white picket fence and views of the track. An early walk the next morning was shared with strings of horses out for air and exercise through the town and on the sand. Beach five minutes on foot in the other direction, via lovely buildings and smart shops.
Looks great on website but is NOT a four star hotel...not even 3 star! Totally overpriced, some staff unfriendly( although receptionist on arrival helpful) and our room smelt pretty stale! Still can't believe how much they charge!
This is not, repeat NOT, a 4 star hotel. In the UK it would be fortunate to be rated 3 star. It is a very dull hotel, cheap furniture, plastic carpet in corridors. Reception closes at 9 pm and doesn't reopen until 8 am, so you are well and truly stuck if you need anything.the smell of chlorine from the indoor swimming pool is overpowering and permeates the whole hotel. Needs refurbishing to a high standard then perhaps they can justify the outrageous prices they charge and be worthy of 4 stars.
Awful surly unhelpful staff. Cheap looking hotel no bar or service. We had to do our own beds! I've no idea how this has 4 stars. Do not stay here. It's no better than a travel lodge. Awful. I can't believe you can't even order a coffee.
Breakfast was the highlight in this hotel, it was very good with lots of different things available. Location is ok and the front of the hotel has a very pleasant looking exterior. We had a family room which was a tad shabby (but not in the chic sense). I understand that families aren't usually given the best rooms but the kitchen area and living space really needed a lick of paint. The floor was quite filthy, there were remnants of the previous occupiers breakfast under the table and it had a horrible sticky feel underfoot throughout. Had we been staying for longer than 1 night I would have complained but after two days on the road I just needed to relax. It's ok. Certainly not a 4* hotel though!
