Ramada Plaza Calgary Airport Hotel and Conference Centre3.0 out of 5.0

We decided to stay at the Ramada Plaza Calgary Airport because of the Airport Parking Package that they offer. It was less expensive to stay here and park our vehicle for eleven days than it would have been to either take a taxi to and from the airport or to park at the airport or one of the lots close by the airport. They gave us our wake up call as requested very early in the morning and their complimentary shuttle got us to the airport on time with no hassle. The bed was comfortable. They have a fitness room which was okay for just an over nighty stay although their machines do not work smoothly and they have dumb bells that go up to 25 pounds. The only two negative comments I have are that their hot tub was not hot and barely warm and the elevator had a very pronounced smell of stale cigarette smoke which fortunately did not make its way into the room.
Had a relaxing stay for my birthday. Enjoy lounging in bath with my love with plenty of room. Can't wait to visit again
Hotel staff professional and friendly. We arrived with reservation on a very cold night; our room registered 13 degrees. Front desk said all rooms are the same temperature and would warm up soon sfter turning on heater - it too 1 1/2 hours to reach 21. Also, a $19.00 charge to my credit card they could not justify or remove.
I had made reservations to this hotel while I knew the cancellation was not free and it would cost me the same reservation price but after I came across some problems in my visa and I could not be there on the reserved dates, I emailed them and the property cancelled my reservation at no cost! It was unbelievable as they could charge me at least a small percent but they did not. Therefore the staff and hotel manager are very considerate. Definitely recommend this hotel and I’ll definitely try it on my trip.
Although the Canadian Africa Hunting Show this year was small, I'm glad that the Ramada didn't cave in to extremist fringe group protests and cancel. Bravo!
Be aware that in the morning the shuttle only runs once every hour to the airport so if you are leaving on an early flight it will likely require you to get up earlier than planned. After our arrival at YYC we called the hotel about the free shuttle. They in turn put me through to the driver who had just left the airport. The driver said he would be back in twenty minutes to pick us up. After 45 minutes he finally s showed up an we being headed for warm climes were very cold by that time. I asked the driver how long it would take to get to the hotel and he said 15 minutes which made me wonder how he planned to return in 20. At check-in we asked about a shuttle for 5 am. The response was that it would have to be either 4:35 am or 5:35 am. We were not happy with this poor service and reluctantly chose 4:35 am. The attendant then asked if we wanted a wake up call at 3:00 am which we felt was totaly bizarre since our shuttle was for 4:35 am. Our response was to have no wake up call. Frankly during our discussion we felt the attendant was condescending toward us. When we arrived in our room the temperature was 16 degrees C and we had to turn on the loud heating system which delayed our getting to sleep. At 3:30 am our phone rang. We did not answer because we had requested no wake up call, were disoriented, and were quite annoyed at having been wakened. We arrived at the desk at 4:20 am and said we were ready to check out. A different attedant said "You were booked on the 3:30 shuttle, "Why didn't you answer your phone". We responded that our shuttle was at 4:30 am. My wife said after being awakened she was disoriented and since in this room the phone was at a desk and not beside the bed she did not answer it. The attendant said 'You didn't know were the phone was?" I said "You need to get us to the airport. The attendant reluctantly called a cab. He said, "This all could have been avoided if you had answered your phone." Feeling we were being accused of something that was not our fault I responded that it could have been avoided if the correct time had been written down by the other attendant. He said "We all make mistakes." He told me to lower my voice and threatened us by saying he didn't have to pay for our taxi. In fact, the attendants voice was louder than mine and I asked him to lower his voice to which he denied being loud. I stepped away from the desk at that point. The attendant seemed inexperienced.
Have stayed here several times while traveling and never had a bad experience! Always pleasant staff for check in and out and leaving the vehicle here while out of the country has never been a problem. Convenient airport shuttle that is also very punctual and drivers have always been friendly!
Rooms are clean, great front desk service. They let us park our car there while we went on vacation for a week. they even shuttled us to the airport. Saved $70 by not needing Park and Jet. 5 stars.
This location features a very handy stay/park/fly package that really reduces the cost of vacations. Especially convenient for those early/late flights for travellers living out of Calgary. Decent rooms, quiet location, fair restaurant. The shuttle service is shared with other hotels but is available 24/7 with a phone call. One suggestion is that there is still an odour of tobacco smoke in the elevator/hallways that could be cleaned up. Will use it again.
The hotel is close to the airport and local attractions and transportation. I chose this property because the staff, accommodation etc. is up to excellence service and convent . I'll be back again in February and March..and will assume their just as good for the past many years
