I love this place. It's small and staff are very respectful and they will go over and beyond to make sure your stay is the best experience ever. I love the location. I work out at Orange Theory which is up the street. Great staff!
We were celebrating a birthday in Kensington and decided to stay at the Riverside Inn, so we could both enjoy our evening out. We chose it for location, and were so pleased to discover one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. The Inn feels more like a private club; modern and elegant decor, nice lighting, intimate lounge and restaurant. Our room was spacious, quiet, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The fireplace, luxurious King bed and decor made this room first class accommodation. Being brought a thermos of coffee and newspaper in the morning was a very nice touch! We had a dinner reservation at a restaurant near-by, but enjoyed wine and appetizers in the lounge (the duck wings were amazing!). Breakfast in the hotel restaurant next morning was superb. Great staff completes the overall experience. Only minor issue is parking, which is not well marked and small, so we were happy to be here off season when the Inn was quiet. My husband commented that he felt like we had a mini-vacation, and I agreed. We both want to come back and have dinner at the restaurant in-house.
When i think of Relais & Chateaux, i generally expect off the top for everything. And while this hotel is lovely, and it is in a nice location, it didn't blow me away. The room was dark, they mention a balcony but it is pretty closed in balcony. it was winter when i was there, but i can't imagine sitting on that balcony. Because the balcony had high walls, there was zero view from my room. i couldn't see anything but the wall. Also, the inn is near the river but you have not much sense of that when you are on the inside. Few rooms face the river and you can't see it much from the inside. The river is across a street and further away. Food was good but small menu. But at breakfast, they had no fruit available. Just little things that made the experience fine but not necessarily blown away. Having said this, the quaint size was cozy, the decor lovely and I would still stay here again.
We loved this Inn. Our room was unique, classy and very comfortable. I had booked to stay here because I was travelling on business and my husband joined me. I wanted him to be in a location where he could walk around and have some things to check out. He was able to walk around Kensington, eat at some locally owned places and enjoyed some of the boutique type stores. My only complaint is that the front desk gentleman who checked us in was not very helpful. You could barely hear him when he spoke and did not disclose that there was a charge for the parkade. We advised we were leaving our vehicle on the street for Friday night, but, when we received our bill he charged us for Friday night and Saturday night use of the parkade. The deadbolt in our room did stick and it took us about 5 minutes to get out of our room for check out. We advised the same Front desk person of this. My husband explained that he thought maybe the deadbolt just needed to be realigned, and he disregarded our comments completely. Did not apologize or say he would have someone look at it. For the cost we spent for 2 nights, I did expect much better service from this individual. Not only did we have a $400 meal on Friday night at The OxBow, but our room was $500.00. I truly did expect better service and care from him.
Checked this place out during a solo trip to YYC. Had always been curious and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely quiet place with beautiful rooms. Even if you don’t stay, come and have the Eggs Benedict. Outstanding.
Everything from welcoming us in the heated underground parking with a cold bottle of water to the hot coffee at the door in the morning, it is first rate..The Oxbow restaurant serves amazing local food with servers who are passionate about their trade. Well done. Thank you
We were thoroughly impressed with the Kensington. I found it on line along with the Oxbow Restaurant. Don't let the small size fool you. We had deluxe accommodations and the menu options in the Oxbow were fabulous. The Chef's Special was amazing. We thoroughly recommend a stay at this hotel.
The service of this boutique hotel is the best in Calgary by a large margin. Not to mention, this is the ONLY hotel in the trendy Kensington neighbourhood. Personalized service, hot coffee and tea delivered to your door in the am were just a few of the reasons we will stay again.
My room was a "standard" room with a king size bed. I usually have 20 - 25 hotel nights a year. This "standard" room is heads above the average. No charge water, lots of amenities, and a fireplace in the room. The bathroom is larger than most, and the shower head is a dream! The room itself is larger than most, and because its a boutique hotel, its nice and quiet. A short walk from downtown, its well placed, right across from the Bow River. The restaurant has a great breakfast. Its not a buffet. The kitchen can be viewed from the dining room. Best of all, the staff is very attentive. I have stayed here before, and this has quickly become my favourite hotel in Calgary.
I love this location as it is amazing to be right on the Bow River Path Way! We had the most beautiful walk in the morning and would definitely come back for breakfast in their gorgeous dining room even if we weren't staying at the hotel, yum :)
