Novotel Cairo El Borg

I’m staying for a short business stay for the first time in Novotel Cairo El-Borg. The hotel location is convenient if you are willing to visit this part of Cairo. You are facing the Egyptian river Nile with a magnificent night view & the Cairo tower at a walking distance from the hotel entrance. If you have your own car, the parking is a bit distant from the entrance yet if you enjoy walking, it will be around a 7 mns walk. I had a remarkable welcoming at the reception from Ramy El-Samak & generously, he upgraded my room from a city view to a high floor Nile view one for no additional cost. The room is spacious compared with other hotels at the same rate & stars with furniture in really good condition. The A/C works fine so far & luckily you get a wide window if you fan enjoying fresh warm breeze like myself from the comfort of the 2 packs couch while watching T.V after a long day. Usually you don’t get such a chance in hotels recently in most cities where you have to relay only on A/Cs. I had formerly requested a king size bed which was comfortable for me with a decent mattress quality I haven’t dinned-in yet but I hope it’s as good as the welcoming I had, thanks to Ramy. If you are planning to visit Novotel Cairo El-Borg, ask for Ramy & maybe he can check you in room 5004.

So if you are looking just for a well located hotel that is relatively affordable and you don't care much about reception service , detailed cleaning level then this hotel is a good choice , not sure why it's a Novotel as it lacks the international standards of Novotel but it's no a bad option if u are on a budget level travel

We booked in the novetel hotel for two nights. We were given a free upgrade facing the Nile river. We had a nice view; however, my main complaint is that we requested a set of extra sheets on various occasions (4 times) and they never arrived.

Novotel Cairo El Borg’s location is great. Breakfast is great in this Hotel. Staff is friendly and helpfull. Nile River view is great from Hotel. But room quality is pretty poor. Furnitures were old. Also bathroom is relly old style and some parts were not working well.

I am a gold member of Accor hotels, and this was my worst experience even though i booked this hotel month in advance. We booked a double bed and got twin bed room. The waiting time at the reception was more than 20min. The Nile view is great but the neighbour noisy music all night long every day was unbearable! The breakfast buffet was very good but when we asked for a bottle of Water they charged us for it! The parking arrangement is very complicated: each time the taxi had to pass security check to drop us at the hotel...

Foolishly enough, instead of the Sofitel, we chose this hotel as it is the closest Accor hotel to the Egyptian Museum (we have Gold cards). We stayed there Dec. 26-27 and Jan. 17-20. On the first night, after an hour or so waiting in the lobby, we were upgraded to a very nice suite because they could not get our room ready. (The only problem was the infernal noise coming from the pleasure boats on the Nile in front of the hotel till very late.) On our second visit we were upgraded to a junior suite (7001) and had the same problem with the noise BUT there was such a horrible smell in the bathroom that we asked to move (6001). The smell was not so bad thxs to a deodorant spray they gave us (you can smell it in the lift too). The view was gorgeous but the infernal noise and the pervading smell coming the sewage system make this hotel a bad choice. Very unusually for Egypt, the staff are not really pleasant apart from the waiters at café Frais & the two bellboys who make up for the surliness of the reception. Watch out because the receptionist wanted to make us pay twice for our bill. We had to produce the credit card slip and the bill stamped "paid" to extricate ourselves at 4:30 A.M. pressed as we were for time since we were catching a 7:15 plane.

We stayed for 2 nights, for it's location. we can walk to the museum. other than that. it's nothing stands out. room is so so. Housekeeping is a shame. we for a shower gel, have called twice, and each time they said they will bring to us shortly, but no one ever shown up. at the end, i have to find the cleaner in the corridor and ask him directly.

The Hotel has a great view along with exceptional service from the staff. The staff both at the resaturant and the reception were very friendly .My kids enjoyed the food and the hospitality.Mr.Abdo and Mr.Amu made us feel at a home away from home .This is exactly how a hotel should be...offering great service and hospitality specially when families are travelling with small kids cant wait to go back again... keep up the great work and thank you again Mr.Abdo and Mr.Amu. This hotel is in a good location for tahrir square and the museum. Check in was slow. As we were checking in, it was noted that we had requested a non smoking room and our room was ready but we had to wait 10 was about an hour before we were given keys to an incredibly smoky room. We called to ask for the non smoking room we had booked, to be told it was possible but we had to wait...more promises of 10 minutes. To try to diffuse the situation, we were offered a non existent bike tour of the island which was rather bizarre. On waiting, the family in the adjoining room made it rather apparent that the sound proofing was immensely lacking and after this additional issue and a change in reception staff, we were given a room on the non smoking floor. The non smoking floors are 3 and 4, but that doesn’t guarantee much. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice, coffee was ok. Good chance to taste the local falafel and foul. The gym here doubles as the prayer room, which is a bit odd when you’re half way through a workout. There’s only a couple of cardio machines and it’s kind of in the middle of the restaurant, but a nice view across the Nile if the tables are empty. The guys at tour company based in reception are polite and helpful, but it is expensive. Would recommend you are exceptionally clear on your expectations when booking anything through them and speak to the same person throughout - we thought we were booking a driver to the pyramids, but somehow managed to get an additional tour of a papyrus gallery, and subsequently arrived at the pyramids at midday, which is fine if you know that’s what’s happening and it’s winter...not so good in the summer... The pool was nice and heated. If you turn left when you come out of the hotel, there’s a floating boat about a 10 minute walk away with a couple of good restaurants

We had a very good stay at the hotel. The checkout (on the 9th Jan at 5.40AM) was very efficient, friendly and the staff was also quite helpful. In short, good location and within short walking distance (or 1 metro stop), to Tahir square and Egyptian museum.
