Novotel El Borg was one of the nicest experiences that we’ve ever had. Their staff were very friendly and courteous all the way through, rooms/bathrooms were a joy and felt like getting back home with a fabulous view of the Nile. Their breakfast spread was very good each and every day. The cap the review, the icing was their GM Abdullah Gebrial was an incredible person whose ready to help their guest for any small issue if brought to his notice. A true gentleman with a magnanimous generosity is the only way I can express himself with. In my next visit to Cairo, it Novotel El Borg without a doubt for us, besides it probably one the best located hotel right next to the Cairo’s cultural center & Opera Theatre a beautiful campus right under its nose if I may say so. Keep it up Novotel & the credit goes to the culture inculcated by its GM am sure with all its staff.
+ good location and good breakfast. Small gym at first floor. - rooms and hotel itself are old. I´ve stayed at 6 floor view Nile River, and you cant sleep because it is too nosy!! Room is not well isolated
Don't miss the roof top view from Novotel, i choose this hotel because it is near to Cairo Tower, Opera House, and Museum. Staffs are friendly there. There are security check point in front of the lobby. Outside the hotel is quite happening at night, music is loud, near to a park, beside a river, have boats.
One of the worst hotels I ever stayed: Dirty rooms, noisy, very substandard building, staff isn’t interested in guests. Be lucky if you can get a non-smoking room because that’s not standard. Only plus is the central location with Nile view. Over all, you’re better off choosing a different hotel - I certainly never ever come back here.
Novotel has been on "save the planet" movement worldwide but I think they should at least provide us with basic toiletries like toothbrush & toothpaste, comb, vanity set, sewing kit, shower cap and the likes. Take note travellers that the hotel only provides shower gel, shampoo & soap.
we selected this hotel for my friends' trip. during their trip they were threated very well. it was their dream to see Nile River and when they woke up they found it front. very amazing view from window, room was very clean and well designed. The roof view was fantastic and we enjoyed during the stay. you should to try traditional drinks on the roof. staff also was very helpful. Thanks for the team and managers. We will select you upcoming trips soon.
The hotel is in a good position, very close to the Egyptian museum. I stay there for two nights. It looks modern but I have to complain with the room cleaning. According with the level of the hotel they could do more. Breakfast is good enough with a wide choice of food for all taste.
We arrived after a long and tiring journey and knowing this, I had paid extra for an early check-in at 8:00am so that after our arrival we could rest, freshen up and prepare for Friday prayers but we did not get our room till 10:15am. We were sat in the reception along with others who also had the same problem in that the rooms were not ready. The gentleman at the reception Mustafa was very polite and courteous and I must single him out for the way he conducted himself with all the late check-ins he had to handle on that day and the way he handled the very irate waiting travellers. I immediately expressed my sentiments about this to Accor/Novotel but apart from an automatic mail there has been no acknowledgement of this from Accor/Novotel and I am thoroughly disappointed with this blatant ignorance of their customers. Me (and my family) and there were also other people who had also PAID EXTRA for the early check-in, but were kept waiting due to their rooms not being available. Apart from an apology from the counter (Mustafa) nothing has been forthcoming from Accor/Novotel and it was the first time I had used this hotel chain and will be thinking twice about using them again or recommending to my family or my work colleagues (UK Automotive manufacturer company name with-held) for business/pleasure use. We eventually were given a room on the 4th floor and failed in our attempt the get to the larger mosque we wanted to get to for Friday prayers. Overall the hotel staff were very good the cleanliness could have been better in the rooms especially the carpets. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were always helpful. Multi-language TV was available, beverage/soft drinks facility and towels/toiletries were as per standard. We used the laundry facility (though expensive) which was available and the cleaning staff were pretty efficient. A/C worked fine but was a little on the noisy side. Pool use is daytime hours only and was very good with a changing/shower/towel facility available. There is also a gym available on the top floor (roof). Breakfast (buffet) in the Le Gout restaurant area facility was excellent and was the highlight of our stay there with the varied offered. But sadly that first morning was critical to our family trip and we never made it to the Mosque we wanted to pray at so had to pray at a local mosque. It was the only Friday of our trip and spoilt by our late check-in. I have now after my arrival back to the UK also communicated this to Accor/Novotel again but there still has been no acknowledgement or reply showing a complete dis-regard of what I had said. Having paid $50 extra for the guaranteed early check-in it would be courteous of Accor/Novotel to offer a refund full/partial for not being able to offer what I had paid for and I am still angry at them for this. I would also suggest that if they cannot meet this requirement fully or guarantee this then they should offer a full refund to ALL the customers who they have been doing this to. P.S We also checked out 11hrs early to catch our flight to the benefit of the hotel so the room was available for their use and also missed breakfast for 3 people to the advantage of the hotel (I believe they charge $15 per person for this).
We came to Novotel after a huge dissapointment with another hotel from Cairo. We were so happy to finally find proper service, proper attitude of the staff, proper cleanlineas of rooms and so on. It's really close to Tahir square, amazing view of the Nile, great rooftop terrace. It's just a good place to be and enjoy Cairo.
This place feels like a home away from home. Incredibly comfortable rooms and great food upstairs on the rooftop if you don't feel like going too far. Hotel staff are very friendly, helpful and wifi is great
