This hotel is merely average. I was hoping to stay in a hotel that had a bit more space, so we chose the Park Regis for the separate bedroom. Because there were three of us - I slept on a rollaway cot. That was hands down the worst sleeping experience of my life. The cot springs were not all connected, it sagged and was hard to get out of. The hotel is not ideally located - it is a bit off the main tourist location. It is still walking distance, but it is a bit of a walk. The hotel was clean - but only moderately furnished. There is a grocery store fairly close by - which is convenient since the room does have a small kitchen area.
We stayed in a two bed two bathroom room. It had a spacious lovely open plan area, with well equipped kitchen, lounge and large balcony seating 8. The bedrooms are comfortable and one bathroom has a spa bath. Only suggestion would be more pots or a larger pot for cooking - we were heading a few hungry basketballers!
The location is fantastic. No more than 10 minutes walk to the lagoon which os most likely the furthest you will need to walk. Harbour and casino 5 minutes walk away. The staff are fantastic especially Colleen, sny problems with internet or just advise on trips she was superb. The pool on the 7th floor is actually better than the lagoon. More refreshing and cleaner. My room was spotless and the ac was very effective. Get the hotel to book airport transfer because its half the price of a taxi.
Great position, in Cairns CBD. We had a dual key apartment so lots of room, space and two bathrooms and bedrooms. We didn't cook but kitchen has basic needs covered. Mind you a SHARP knife would be an improvement. We had two in unit and they wouldn't even slice a tomato. Outside area excellent. My only grumble was we couldn't check in early even though I explained I was unwell and needed to lie down before a doctors appointment. ( I ended up in hospital for two nights). The front office explained check in was 2pm no exceptions. Car parking was secure but parks small when you drive 4WD. NIL room beside another 4WD.
Stayed at the Park Regis on a North Qld road trip and loved it. Our room was spacious and after a long day our in the Cairns sun it was pleasant to retire back to the Park Regis for the day. Location is perfect, rooms very clean and the front desk staff were only too happy to accommodate our late checkout request without hesitation. Recommend staying here.
Hotels are pretty expensive in Cairns. But since we were going to be busy all day with snorkeling we chose this hotel for a comfortable sleep at night. Judy at reception was warm and welcoming, helpful as well. Housekeeping is not available for every day(extra charges). Judy helped with some extra complimentary stuff like suger tea etc(very nice of her). Over all it was comfortable and safe for me and my 12 year old son in a new country.
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during the week, spending almost no time inside the room itself besides sleeping. My boyfriend and I stayed in one of their normal hotel rooms, not an apartment. From the reviews I read on here, it seems the difference between the hotel rooms and the apartment rooms is pretty staggering. The room itself was "fine" - big enough. Clean. Bathroom updated. Had a mini fridge and some kitchen supplies which was appreciated. However the main item you need in a room - the bed - was pretty awful. Felt like a box spring with a small mattress topper over it. Coming back after hiking in the tablelands or snorkeling, you want to just sink into a bed and these did not allow that. Seriously, update the beds ASAP. Also the hotel-style rooms look into a wall. We were lucky enough to get a room that was only 80% facing a wall! Go us. This isn't an easy fix though, I understand that. The building next door probably went in at a later date. Another complaint is the Internet. It's hard to come by free internet in Australia, and and Park Regis supplies 250mb per day, or 750 for our whole stay. We were more than happy with this setup. We didn't use the Internet for much other than checking text-based work emails, looking up directions, and a Facebook post. However on our last night, after being gone for 12ish hours each day on our tours, we got a message that we had reached our cap. Honestly, either the hotel is lying that they give you 250 per day, or someone else was using our internet login. Either way, this is not ok. There is no way we reached that cap. We never streamed or downloaded anything, and only watch movies via pre downloaded things on our laptop. False advertising. Last complaint is reception. We arrived late and reception was closed. We had notified them of this and check in went fine, yet there was no follow up. Not the biggest deal but it would have been nice. Like I said earlier, the place was fine. Not great, just fine. I wouldn't call it a 4 star hotel either. The hotel style rooms are a 3 star, I'm betting that the apartment styled rooms are much better quality that merit more of a 4 star. Just update the beds!!!
We recently stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment here. It was great. Comfortable beds, good kitchen, quiet, sizeable lounge area and a nice outdoor seating area. It's very convenient to the Reef cruise quays .... easy walk. Also close to restaurants, shops and parks. The air con was good and there's a rooftop pool to cool off in too and an area with BBQ facilities. There's a secure parking area . The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Transfers by minibus can be arranged to and from the airport by them.
We needed a place to stay overnight prior to our 7-day cruise to the Great Barrier Reef. We could not have been happier with the Park Regis. Even an after-hours check-in was simple and fast. The room was huge with a great bed and excellent air conditioning (we arrived very late so getting the room cooled off quickly was a big plus). The next morning the staff was extremely helpful. I highly recommended the Park Regis.
Hi I would like to tell you about my experience with one of your hetel, Park Regis in Cairns. I stayed your hotel 26th to 29th October. And my experience with your hotel was terrible. I know it sounds so strong but i cannot just ignore it because it actually ruine my whole journey. Here is what was happening there. First, It starts from the first day. I expected that my hotel room is clean and tidy. However there were chocolate flakes everywhere on the floor. It made me feel so much uncomfortable. So on the next day, before i went out for activity i hung the sign "make a room" on my room door. Then i come back and again i expected my hetel room is tidy and clean. BUT it made me disappointed again. Room was the same as last night. I cannot say that it has been vacuum cleaned or cleand. Even there was no towel exchange in the shower room. I was so upset but also tired after came back from activity so i just called to the front desk and aksed for spare new towels. And what was the feed back is, "Unfortunately there are no cleaners this time and i cannot provide you towels to your room because there is noone to look after the front desk. So if you want towels you come down and get it" said Collin. I was in so much shock because i never expect that feed back or customer service from any hotels. That was just snapped. It was just an order. What it sounds like to me is, you need towels so it is your responsibility to come down and get it. What kind of hotel service is that? So i hung up and i used towel that i used last night. I swear, I'm not exaggerating. Secondly, the front desk person who is name Collin. I would like to ask her seriously. Are you racist? or if it is not the case, What is wrong with you? I asked for just little help, like any hotel could provide. I asked front desk person that is possible to keep my key in the front desk with the person who in charge because i gotta go to an activity that requires no bag and she said yes. So i left my key with that person. After i came back from the activity Collin was there. And of course, she got mad because she doesn't know where is our key. She was very cranky and she started to almost yell at us like.. "Have you lost your key? there isn't any key here. Why didn't you just keep it?". I couldn't say anything because i felt like i'm going to have a big argument with her. Even my friend asked me that is this so bothering for her because i'm Asian?. It is not weird to say that because we saw her smiling and being nice to other people. So ovbiously we felt like it is racism. After past few seconds, she found our key under the keyboard and said "here you go". She didn't even say sorry or she didn't try to make any explanation regarding to what just happen. We realised that this is definately not the place that we can have rest or comfort feeling after our activities. I never ever experienced that bad customer service in any places. At that time, actually my friend visit me from my country for the first time and we were just so so so excited to have short trip. I wished my friend have a good time in Cairns but unfortunately there was no opportunity to us to have a good time during the journey. Activities were great but everytime we're back from the activity, something happend in the hotel that ruin our good memory from activities. I am not quiet sure that Collin is the right person to work at your front desk. She doesn't know how to provide customer service. She has no idea how to solve the problem with her guests. I am NOT going to recommand that hotel and plus any other hotels you have in australia to my friends and family. And i will share my story with people so that they have opportunity to have precious and memorable time during their journey or trip in other nicer places.
