We stayed here for a few nights in February. The rooms are huge, great AC, close by to the wharf and Woolworths is only five minutes away. Always shop at Woolworths in Australia if you can find one. The best prices for all your food necessities. The rooms were cleaned every day, the staff was very friendly and the price for our room was the best price I could find for in Cairns unless you want to move up to a 5 star. I definitely would recommend staying here.
I stayed 3 nights. It is well located close to the center in a quiet area. The hotel is pleasant with careful attentive staff and helps you in everything you need. Unfortunately the room was small and inconvenient for a family of 2 people with 2 luggage. The wi-fi is limited and in my opinion very little - after a day and a half is over. I do not think I've consumed exactly the whole quantity. Anyway I think it's not that expensive to give a bigger amount that is very much needed to any foreign tourist.
Staff were very efficient on check in and check out. Room was clean and tidied every day. Music from restaurants turned down by 10. Would recommend a second visit walking distance to great restaurants and Casino. Secure parking was $14.00 a day
We stayed here for three nights over the Australia day long weekend, our main purpose was to fish. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. The location was awesome for us, right near the wharf & restaurants/bars. Woolworths was in walking distance for supplies. We had a large balcony overlooking the marina. We found the staff to be helpful, we really noticed how lovely housekeeping was. We'd go out for the day returning to our apartment having been beautifully cleaned. Even the towels were folded differently. We'll definitely use this accommodation again.
If you are used to regular hotels this may not be the place for you as it is more if an apartment hotel with limited services, including reception. But if you like plenty of room, a kitchen, a great shower and location, try this one. The continental breakfast was odd as it was just prepackaged boxes for each day. We bought our own stuff at Woolworths down the street and had plenty. Only real criticism is the internet which limits you to 250mb a day after which you have to buy more. Frustrating in this day and age when it doesn't take much to use up that amount of data and more so when then let you use up all of the data allotted for three days before you realize the restriction. Our own fault but if the hotel wants to attract business and families, time to offer unlimited data.
We have been travel around Australia for 3 weeks, stay 3 difference hotels at Cairns and this is the worst hotel we have been stayed. Room is rather small compare with others and we would have better choice with the same price. Location is good if you don’t mind to staying in a cave by servicing with scowl face staff, not even willing to answer one question. Cairns is a very nice place, also people we met except here. Noted, everything charged here, like baggage storage.
We stayed in this hotel for 7 nights during Christmas holiday season. Overall it’s an ok hotel. It’s not great, and it’s not too bad. Like: we stayed in an one bedroom apartment which was spacious for two of us. It has everything that we need including a washing machine, which was very handy for a hot summer holiday. Dislikes: there is no gym in this hotel The swimming pool is smallish for a hotel and it’s not heated. It’s freezing cold even on a 36 degrees day. The location of this hotel is average. It’s within walking distance to most things. The staffs working here are hit and miss. Some of them are very nice, but some of them never smile. The service is inconsistent. We asked for a late check out (after paying $1600 for 7nights). We were told they don’t offer late check out. But we can choose to pay $10 and check out at 11 am. We declined the offer. The next day morning when we were checking out, we over heard the front counter staff were asking people who were checking in to join their free membership program which gives them late check out at 11 am at no additional cost! We have never been offered such membership program... or free late check out. We have travelled extensively and stayed in many hotels. Considering this is a four stars hotel and charged us over aud$200 per night. A late checkout at 11am really shouldn’t be a problem at all. Especially they offer this in their free membership program anyway. An very average hotel overall.
Grabbed a night in the city here as it was about half the cost of nearby hotels. Central CBD location near cruise liner terminal. Great comfortable bed and a large bathroom. Very good for the price. You won't get a view, it's 7 levels and boxed in by 15-17 level hotels. For the price the location, best you can get hotel wise if you want a decent room. Rooftop pool and BBQ, nice setting.
The Park Regis was a convenient and economical location to stay before and after a diving trip with Mike Ball. The room was clean, quiet and efficient for a quick stay, and they held our extra luggage for the three days we were diving. It was a quick walk to the dive office and to restaurants, both quick service and those along the waterfront. A very comfortable stay.
We stayed 3 nights. When we checked in, there was a lizard in the fridge that housekeeping was kind enough to remove for us. This was after we waited hours longer than we were told to wait for our room. There were other things that says the room had not been completely cleaned: cleaning bottle left in the bedroom closet, dirty microwave, etc. I'm not saying the room was dirty but maybe they were interrupted and forgot a few things. Additionally, the check in lady Margaret laughed at me when I said we arrived early and asked if there was any chance of an early check in. She said they were busy, but promised to call when our room was ready. We never got a call. Over the 3 days, we learned to not ask her anything. Tobi and the other gal were helpful and nice. We did have an issue with the clothes dryer but it was late on our last day so didn't bother anyone to look at it. We just left a note for housekeeping. They provide dispensers for shampoo, etc but ours didn't work for some of the products so we left that info in a note too. Parking is expensive at this hotel so we parked on the street with our rental car and had no problems. We did have a kitchen but they only offer toasters at the front desk which is odd. They even have you sign a form that if the smoke detectors go off you are paying an over $1000 fee which made cooking in that kitchen beyond stressful. We intentionally booked a place with a kitchen to keep meal prices down. We did use the grill on the roof one night but were surprised that it's electric. Grocery was within walking distance but glad we had a rental car. Not a bad stay but thought others might like to know what we experienced.
