We stayed in this hotel for 7 nights during Christmas holiday season. Overall it’s an ok hotel. It’s not great, and it’s not too bad. Like: we stayed in an one bedroom apartment which was spacious for two of us. It has everything that we need including a washing machine, which was very handy for a hot summer holiday. Dislikes: there is no gym in this hotel The swimming pool is smallish for a hotel and it’s not heated. It’s freezing cold even on a 36 degrees day. The location of this hotel is average. It’s within walking distance to most things. The staffs working here are hit and miss. Some of them are very nice, but some of them never smile. The service is inconsistent. We asked for a late check out (after paying $1600 for 7nights). We were told they don’t offer late check out. But we can choose to pay $10 and check out at 11 am. We declined the offer. The next day morning when we were checking out, we over heard the front counter staff were asking people who were checking in to join their free membership program which gives them late check out at 11 am at no additional cost! We have never been offered such membership program... or free late check out. We have travelled extensively and stayed in many hotels. Considering this is a four stars hotel and charged us over aud$200 per night. A late checkout at 11am really shouldn’t be a problem at all. Especially they offer this in their free membership program anyway. An very average hotel overall.
Grabbed a night in the city here as it was about half the cost of nearby hotels. Central CBD location near cruise liner terminal. Great comfortable bed and a large bathroom. Very good for the price. You won't get a view, it's 7 levels and boxed in by 15-17 level hotels. For the price the location, best you can get hotel wise if you want a decent room. Rooftop pool and BBQ, nice setting.
The Park Regis was a convenient and economical location to stay before and after a diving trip with Mike Ball. The room was clean, quiet and efficient for a quick stay, and they held our extra luggage for the three days we were diving. It was a quick walk to the dive office and to restaurants, both quick service and those along the waterfront. A very comfortable stay.
We stayed 3 nights. When we checked in, there was a lizard in the fridge that housekeeping was kind enough to remove for us. This was after we waited hours longer than we were told to wait for our room. There were other things that says the room had not been completely cleaned: cleaning bottle left in the bedroom closet, dirty microwave, etc. I'm not saying the room was dirty but maybe they were interrupted and forgot a few things. Additionally, the check in lady Margaret laughed at me when I said we arrived early and asked if there was any chance of an early check in. She said they were busy, but promised to call when our room was ready. We never got a call. Over the 3 days, we learned to not ask her anything. Tobi and the other gal were helpful and nice. We did have an issue with the clothes dryer but it was late on our last day so didn't bother anyone to look at it. We just left a note for housekeeping. They provide dispensers for shampoo, etc but ours didn't work for some of the products so we left that info in a note too. Parking is expensive at this hotel so we parked on the street with our rental car and had no problems. We did have a kitchen but they only offer toasters at the front desk which is odd. They even have you sign a form that if the smoke detectors go off you are paying an over $1000 fee which made cooking in that kitchen beyond stressful. We intentionally booked a place with a kitchen to keep meal prices down. We did use the grill on the roof one night but were surprised that it's electric. Grocery was within walking distance but glad we had a rental car. Not a bad stay but thought others might like to know what we experienced.
We stayed for 5 nights and this is the second time we've stayed here. It's a good location and well appointed apartment room. The swimming pool is cold, just like it was 2 years ago, when we were last here. The room had a bit of an unpleasant smell, which we believe may have been a previous guest cooking onions. You have to pay to park in their car-park, which is the first place we've stayed at that does that. It's 14 dollars per night. Two years ago it was 10 dollars per night. It was expensive then but now is far too much, considering we're already paying to stay. otherwise it's good value for money.
Stayed for only one night but it was perfect for this purpose. Easy, fast check in and a clean, well equipped room. Everything you could need. Nothing fancy but exactly as advertised. Would stay again for the same purpose.
We had a 1 bedroom apartment for 2 nights before a cruise. Lovely apartment, very modern and clean. Pool was nice as well. Staff were very courteous, although very busy at the time. Very close to cruise terminal. Would definately stay there again.
I stayed 6 nights in September in a standard room. The room was small, but had everything I need - but not a chair or couch to sit on - only a desk chair. My room was on the third floor and there is an external door leading to two rooms and therefore two doors. At 3.30 am on my first night I was awakened by a drunken woman bashing on the external door as she didn't have her keys to get in. The hollow echoing woke me (and probably many others) as I went and let her into the small hallway so she could access her door!n not a great start. No breakfast on offer. There is a microwave and fridge etc. The rooftop pool is start, small and not overly attractive. The location is great for the convention centre, the shopping centre and the wharf area. I found the accomodation acceptable but would not return, I like nicer accommodations.
We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay here prior to heading off on a cruise. Our standard hotel room was much larger than we expected with a balcony, was well laid out and very quiet. Location was excellent and an easy walk to the cruise terminal, casino, reef terminal, Woolworths and other shopping. Staff were very helpful and stored our luggage at checkout. The only downside was the pool which was really cold and rather teeth chattering.
Large clean rooms with balconies, comfortable bed, spacious bathrooms and all in ideal location just near the Esplanade. Easy walk to restaurants and lagoon. Will definitely stay again when in Cairns. The girls at reception were very efficient and friendly.
