Mother & Daughter Getaway - Absolutely Perfect!
My partner and I spent two weeks in Costa Rica, with the first week at Villa Serenity with our moms. The house was clean, beautiful, and safe, with an indoor/outdoor experience (if you're a light sleeper, pack a blackout sleep mask & earplugs; even the sounds of nature can be overwhelming if you aren't used to it). We balanced making meals at the house and dining at many restaurants along the water. We recommend checking out the GypSea Cafe & the Jaguar Rescue Centre, as they were highlights of our time on the Carribean side. We also checked out Puerto Viejo one afternoon to shop, but I'd skip it if you're sensitive to heat, noise or chaos. The best beach for folks looking for calm water to swim and snorkel in was Playa Punta Uva, specifically at low tide before the waves picked up. We were lucky to have only a few guests in the sister villa across from us during our vacation. It took us a day of coexisting to realize that sound easily transferred from the refreshing pool into the villas, so both houses made an effort to be considerate of each other. Finally, we were concerned about the lack of A/C, but we slept comfortably under our duvets most nights. That being said, during afternoon naps, the room with the bunk beds could benefit from a stand-up fan for those sleeping on the lower bunk who can't feel the ceiling fan.
