Robert the Manager deserves a medal. He goes all out to ensure ALL your needs are catered for. I can’t recommend this “unspoilt traditional” Hotel enough. If its not on the menue just ask. The locals are friendly too.
We stayed overnight on Thursday 3rd August, a party of 13 requiring 7 rooms and an evening meal. Sadly the purpose of our stay was my Mother in law's funeral and we had travelled over from South Wales on the ferry after an early morning church service arriving at the hotel around 7.30pm. We asked if we could have a table ready for 8pm and were swiftly checked in to our rooms for a quick freshen up. On arriving back downstairs we were ushered into a snug where a large square table had been set up for us. It was perfect and a leisurely meal followed. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and very large portions! The waiter serving us was excellent. The manager asked us if we required dessert, at which point we realised it was gone 10pm - my sweet toothed daughter panicked that Chef would go home, but we were assured that Chef never leaves! The rooms were clean and comfortable and our party slept soundly. After breakfast we had to travel to Kildorrery to bury my mother in law along side my father in law who had passed away 20 years ago. We asked the hotel if it was a problem to leave our belongings whilst we attended so that we could change clothes before travelling home, possibly making us a few minutes late to check out - again, not a problem. As we checked out and stood waiting outside, the housekeeper came out with a bracelet left in one of the rooms. 5 minutes later as we we're about to set off she came running across with a watch that had been left too. Her only concern being that we hadn't left before she could return it! Travelling back to Rosslare, we were 20 minutes into our journey when the hotel rang to say a purse had been left behind. Luckily, we had time to return and collect it due to the prompt call. As I titled the review, we received outstanding service from all the staff at the hotel - nothing was too much trouble. It certainly made a difficult trip easier to manage. Many thanks from our entire party.
I did not actually stay in this hotel but I did go there frequently to eat, have a pint and use their WiFi. Each time I ate there, the food was carefully prepared and meticulously presented in generous portions. The staff was pleasant and attentive.
Minuses V uncomfortable mattress rm 207 Pillows not fit for purpose Hole in net curtain Pluses Friendly, efficient, staff nothing too much trouble Breakfast excellent and food in bar great and good sized portions Nice atmosphere in bar too Bedroom and bathroom good size (Could do with an update, but v clean) Good Tea & coffee in room I know there has been new owners in the last 2 years and they are doing a great job but definitely need to invest in new mattresses and pillows, a good nights sleep is imperative for a hotel and would definitely stay again if they do, but full marks to the fabulous staff !
We stayed here for one night in July. The staff were very friendly. Parking is conveniently located and there is a lovely bar in the hotel. The hotel has a nice traditional feel, and there is information in the room that tells you about the history of the building. The room was a bit dated, but in good repair. The mattresses do need to be replaced, they are definitely past their prime. Cahir was a nice stop on our trip, and it was a short stroll from our hotel to the castle, grocery store, and several restaurants. Cahir Castle was closed for the evening by the time we arrived in town, but we enjoyed it from the outside. The park adjacent to the castle is nice for a peaceful evening walk. We had dinner at the excellent Lava Rock. Cahir is close to the Rock of Cashel, so if you get going promptly in the morning you can beat the tour bus crowds. We really enjoyed our brief stop in Cahir and are glad we booked the night at Cahir House Hotel.
My husband and I got married at Cahir House Hotel on June 17th and I can only describe it as the perfect day. Cahir House Hotel is packed with an old style charm that most new hotels can't even begin to match. From the moment we and our guests arrived we were made to feel at home. One of our guests even went on to describe the feeling as "walking into her mother's kitchen" as it was "so warm and friendly". We have received so many compliments from our friends and family since the wedding about the extremely high standard and sheer quantity of food served, the personal service from every member of staff, from the waiters to the management, and the attention to detail provided. As it was such a fine day they even transformed the beautiful gardens into an outdoor reception area where drinks and finger food were provided between the ceremony and evening reception, with crisp white table linen, flowers and candles so everybody could enjoy the beautiful day and evening. This was over and above what we had asked for and it really added to the overall experience. On reading this review you may think it's written with rose tinted glasses as it was our wedding day but over the last few years we have been regular visitors to parties and functions at the hotel and would quite often dine in the restaurant for lunch and have never left the table without being completely satisfied. If you want a glass and chrome lifeless box by all means search for another hotel, but if you want a genuine warm welcome, in one of Ireland's historic family homes, with personal service, charm and character then choose Cahir House Hotel.
We stsyed in this hotel for one night and thst was enough. At 105euro forcthe night you would have expected something decent. We did change our room but the option wasn't much better. To be fair to the Manager( David I think) he was apologetic about the place but that was it. No discount no i will throw in dinner and a drink. I would not stay here again.
Have stayed at Cahir House Hotel before and was not disappointed. Well kept hotel. Rooms clean with good amenities. Food as always fresh and plentiful. Will stay there again. I asked for a room in a quiet location and was given one at the back of the hotel with a lovely view of the castle. No pool but that's not something that bothered me. Well worth a visit
We had our wedding here on 23rd June and it was absolutely amazing fantastic. There was not a thing I could say against the hotel. I would recommend the hotel to anyone. Food was great staff are so helpful and friendly hotel is always so clean and tidy. Cahir House Hotel made our day absolutely magical.
Hubby and I stayed here for one night on our way further south. We decided to stay in Cahir to visit the historic castle. (Well done the Irish tourist board for promoting the Historic East and bringing attention to Irish castles) We stayed in Cahir House as it was so central. The hotel is not a modern soulless building.... but is a quirky slightly old fashioned place with very friendly workers from the receptionist to the bar staff. One lady heard me comment about the library at the back of the bar and offered to check if there were seats. The rooms were clean and we enjoyed our stay. Not for you if you enjoy all mod cons. But a friendly atmospheric well positioned hotel in a historic Irish town with lovely staff.
