We spent the weekend in this resort with a beautiful setting at the heart of Valdecañas reservoir. The premises are superb, from the stunning swimming pool and man made beach integrated in the valley and the reservoir, to the restaurant and golf course. Great place for golfaholics who wants to enjoy playing an entertaining course with many level changes and obstacles, and quite difficult greens.
It was a prime example of how customer service should be, just magnificent, and from everyone in the hotel, from front-desk to waiters. I had an issue with the reservation and they way they handled it was just perfect. They have won a customer. The surroundings are very picturesque. You are in an "island" (literally surrounded by water) a few hundred kilometres away from the sea. It feels very safe and family friendly. Great if you play golf. Shame that the pool area and "beach" was not open as it looks fantastic. Will have to come back and check it in the summer to see if it´s as good as in the hotel pictures. The food (including the buffet breakfast) was nice. The room was modern with a huge bed and very good free wifi. Beware of the insects at night, I made the mistake of leaving the window open for a while and I had an army of little flies and mosquitoes coming into my room. Thankfully, they had some insect repellent in reception and didn´t get a single bite.
Located in a beutiful and artificial peninsula the views are the best of the place. It´s not cheap and far from the motorway. It´s nice and shady in the summer but there is not much to do there, except playing golf.
My family were lucky enough to do a Home Exchange to one of the five bedroom villas on the Island. The hotel and it's staff were very good and attentive, the golf was terrific and the hotel pool was magnificent for all ages. If you have a car you must visit the rock pool hills, Caceras, Orepesa and the National Park Monfragua.
Spent 4 days here and the staff, especially the restaurant crew, look for Nicoleta and Pedro, are so professional and accommodating. The swimming pool was fun and the beach bar, not belonging to the hotel, had great food and fun people. My husband played golf and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Not much to visit, except for Caceras and Trujillo as it's a bit out of the way but a great place to relax and enjoy the hotel's restaurant and the hotel itself is worth its 4 stars.
we had a wonderful time, very nice for visiting with family or friends, wish it had included breakfast but it was very nice anyway. The pool was being repaired and we weren't notified, will suggest you notify it to future customers. Besides that detail, it was great!
The Husa hotel and the clubhouse are combined so everything is very convenient for golfers. The challenging 18 hole course is very well laid out, retains a natural ecological feeling and has great views. The course is fun to walk, but it's quite hilly so plan to either carry your clubs or rent an electric trolley. There is also a driving range. The hotel itself is very nice with large comfortable rooms and well-equipped bathrooms. We had a fantastic view over the Embalse. The receptionists were great, very friendly, helpful and accommodating even when we modified our tee time because of the weather. They also spoke several languages. The food is very good with a bar which has reasonably priced salads, sandwiches and tapas and a restaurant with more creative dishes. Breakfast is included and is also very nice with a large selection. We didn't use the outdoor pool because of the chilly weather. There's not much to see/do in the immediate vicinity for non-golfers though it is possible to take a 1/2 day trip to visit Guadelupe.
Well where do I start? Travelled as a family in August, with two rounds of golf being my birthday present. Golf + Price in low season €35. Course reasonable condition, albeit played long due to amount of watering - €32 to hire a buggy in low season! Poor level of signposting, how much does it cost to put a layout of each hole by the Tee box? Water available at only three places. No marshals, so fourball in front took five hours, whereas day before i walked it in 3.5 hours. Hotel - Good buffet breakfast, rooms good size with AC, staff OK (but see comment about leeches) Location - Miles from anywhere, so you feel somewhat cut-off. €10 to hire a bike etc. Outside the hotel everything else seems under maintained, from the track around the island. Bar/Cafe at the swimming pool closed for fumigation, lawn by pool in poor state...and best of all, thousands of leeches in the lake. No warning by the reception staff. Yes you may have problems with your filtration system..BUT TELL THE GUESTS,
Our room can see the swimming pool and beautiful sunset as well. The architect obvious do a lot of thinking to design the whole level of the complex ensure has beautiful view. Golf course is nice. It is good to spent a weekend for playing golf and relaxe. When I ask for any trolley provided for me to carry our luggage he just staring at me and said no, If I staff in the restaurant are very helpful even they don't speak english. but at least they trying provide services But the receptionist is rude (a guy) no any information provided. When I ask for any trolley provided for carrying our luggage to the room . he just staring at me and said no, No smiling face. No mention any facilities of the hotel. Honestly, if you are fresh to there, you don't even klnow they have swimming pool. But anyway, It is a beautiful place.
We have gone to Valdecañas a couple of times staying in the hotel and in the big houses on the island. Its really good for sports. Off course the fantastic golf course but also tenis, padel, horseriding and I particularly enjoy the running path around the island. Its just less than 8 km which you can easily extend or shorten. The 8 km feels like 10km anyhow due to the continuous ups and downs of the path. You have a more flatter path, good for series, which involves running to the nearby village of El Gordo. Valdecañas also has a beach and a beautiful swimming pool just behind the beach. You can also rent a boat for waterski or sailing. The wind is especially good in warm afternoons when a nice breeze comes up.
