Beautiful old building with comfortable rooms, excellent food, attentive staff, pool and on-site parking. Wished we could have stayed longer and explored the interesting old town more. Next time! Well located for driving through Spain.
When the temperature rises to 35 degrees easily, a great hotel benefits significantly from a pool, however small it is. After a day in Plasencia or surroundings it's heaven to return to such a magnificent hotel, with a large room, cool, well equipped with a great bathroom and bath with shower. The best thing on our three days here was "diving" in the pool, no deeper then 1 meter and a cool beer in the beautiful bar. Quite close to heaven!
High standard in service and accomodation. Great location in the city centre The city itself ist worth a holiday visit. Close to the motorway it is a nice place for a stopover and it is value for money
The entry into the garage at Plasencia should be made into a game show! But first you must find the place - it's just a hole in the wall on an obscure Plascencian street. .As you pull off the street and ask reception for entry the game begins. The grille lifts and you enter a space to fit one car length in front of a lift. Not for the faint hearted but the instructions in Spanish and English. The first instruction is not to hit the doors. Get too far away and the doors wont' open - too close and ooops! The lift doors open and you squeeze your car inside a lift just big enough for a brave person. The same problem occurs with the doors as you edge towards the front lift door. If you have a right hand drive car then hitting the correct lift button involves a skill previously learnt in judo or pilates. All accomplished - things go very quiet and suddenly the doors open and you are in the underground parking. Then you think - how on earth am I to get out again.
Stayed here one night on our way from Bilbao to Algarve. Building is amazing - definitely the most interesting Parador we have stayed in. Getting into underground car park via car lift is a challenge but exciting. Our room, which overlooked swimming pool was huge, with lots of storage space. Lovely big bathroom and separate toilet room. We did a brief tour of building which has a fascinating history. The Bar looks out onto mediaeval walls and staircase. Dinner in the old refectory was the highlight. The room is vast and well furnished. Service was superb and the food absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were small to medium - just right for us. We were given excellent advice on good value local red wine. The whole place is incredibly romantic and beautiful. We will definitely be back- with swimming costumes next time, to enjoy the outdoor pool.
Certainly the most beautiful Parador I have ever been in Spain. The atmosphere inside is as if you were back 300 years. We ate outside in the town that is so lovely. The Breakfast buffet in the morning is good. The room where you will have your breakfast is incredible. I really recommend this Parador
The original architecture of the old monastery is preserved in many details, while the modernized features provide excellent comfort. Clay tile floors, canopy bed, excellent balcony view and delicious food lead the plus column. The bed was rather hard to our preference, and the AC was not turned on, which was uncomfortable during the warm day. Overall though, a very good experience.
As with most of the Parador properties Plasencia is a stunning building with courtyards and gardens preserved from its original function as a monastery . Entering the place via the car lift is somewhat daunting . The entrance is actually part of and below the old city wall . It is though by far the best way to enter the Parador if you are driving . We had a nice room overlooking a courtyard but as always lacked handy things like tea and coffee and an iron and board . As few of the staff spoke english it also seemed unlikely that we could have achieved much success by ordering via room service . The old city is a real gem of a place well worth visiting and what's most surprising is that it's hidden within a rather lack lustre modern industrial town . Liked Plasencia liked the Parador building but the service is rather like what you would expect at a tourist information centre run by volunteers , enthusiastic but not that professional .
We loved our stay here for four nights. The reception staff were so helpful in recommendations for everything from haircuts, to day trips, restaurants, and spas! As a result we had a wonderful short break, we packed loads in. Bar staff were again very helpful. One of the staff has been working on his english, which was great... We we delighted to talk to him, and get some insider now ledge on the area. Our bedroom was lovely too, with a nice balcony. Would have loved if pool was open but this is pics, of spain! Restaurant staff were very pleasant, although I think a group must have been there for breakfast, cause the breakfast bar was quite empty they did give us stuff when we asked. Just had one meal there, which was pleasant enough. Only one downside to hotel, after you arrive and navigate the streets, you park up and then realise you can't park there once you check in so you have to go again through more streets to get to the parking, would be super helpful to flag this to people before they come, so they can go direct to car park. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This is a beautiful Parador in the heart of the old city of Pasencia. For guests in the summer there is a pool. It used to be a monastery and the Parador offers a free guided tour for guests. The comfortable Rooms are larger than normal with a separate seating area with TV Only drawbacks are those common to many Paradors, the wifi in the room is poor, they should offer a better choice of pillow and finally the quality of food for lunch and dinner should be improved . Worth noting is the Parador parking which operates with a lift system and when the car park is full you have to be very careful when entering the lift when leaving as the angle is difficult and the lift narrow.I think next time I will park on the street
