Beautiful parador in superb location. The only negative was breakfast which was not up to its usual standard. The eating experience in all paradors could generally be improved with a little more imagination on the menu, after all it should live up to the locations !!
A superb building with lots of nice details. Parking in the medieval walls is a bit of a challenge but certainly manageable if your car is not too large. Our room was quite small, as was the bed. The mattress was vey hard, even for Spanish standards. Unfortunately the Parador has no coffee or tea facilities in the room. Breakfast is rich but no granola or decent yogurt.
An excellent hotel in a superb building. This is a former monastery with many original features. The staff were excellent as were the facilities. The swimming pool was open, which we have not found in all Paradores at this time of year.
This Parador is as a Parador should be: historic, yet up to date with modern times. Very friendly staff too. Our room was spacious and cool (in spite of the hot weather). The building itself is more than stunning: huge vaulted hallways, ancient rooms, antique furniture, appropriate decorations. It is magical to walk through this place. There is a nice pool, although access is a bit difficult. Parking is underneath the building, the entrance is on quite a different location, so follow the right signs! Especially restaurant is nice, being located in part of the old church. Also, the bar is awesome, as it is based in a large stairway. Look UP! :-)
Great attention to detail from the staff of this comfortable hotel. Giving easy access to a great town square . Near by church and cathedral a must to see. I would happily spend more time here. A fantastic place to hold an important reception or wedding.
I think every adjective has been used in previous reviews to describe just how wonderful this beautiful hotel is. I won't bore you by repeating all the rapturous comments (which this hotel fully deserves) as I can't think of any different ways to describe just how lovely this hotel is. One small piece of feedback to the manager - the night bar is a great area and beautifully presented. I just felt that the performance regarding the serving of the drinks from a drinks trolley is a little theatrical and really slows down the time it takes to receive your drinks from the time of ordering. Some people may enjoy this touch but your bar tender was very pushed to take orders, load the trolley for that order, serve the drinks, unload the trolley and then repeat the process again for the next order. A minor point in an absolutely faultless stay. Thank you!
Apart from the trauma of negotiating the hire car into the seemingly small lift to get to the garage, a stressless visit was had in this parador. It is nicely situated on the edge of town and is an interesting building in its own right. Pleasant walk into town where you feel safe We paid for an upgrade to the room which was worth the 20€ a night. A couple of minor changes in the bathroom (light in the shower area, resite toilet roll holder to be at the side, and provision of tissue box) , and a balcony would make it perfect Excellent dinner and breakfast Pool is small and shallow so can get crowded
I am sure this hotel must have been a mansion or a castle before it was rebuild and changed into a hotel. The building itself is very beautiful and you feel the atmosphere of elegance and ancient history. The gardens are a chapter of their own with lots of flowers, bushes and tres.My room was at the end of an outside corridor with beautiful arches. When I opened the door I felt like a princess. It was the same size as a suite. Very charmingly decorated and the bed was so comfortable. Bathroom ample, many towels and everything you might need. Shampoo, shower gel, comb, shower cap ect. Breakfast offerd a lovely variety of different dishes and the service was perfect. Oh, I must remember to mention the parking facilities. Unbelivable ! Situated right in the center of charming Placencia I suppose it must have been a bit of a puzzle to find a place where the guests could park their car. An upper garaje has been constructed and a special designed lift brings your car from street level up to the hotel parking place. I was amazed. What a brilliant solution.
In this hotel we'd booked the 'habitaciones unicas' package, and here they make your stay into a really special occasion. As we went into our suite of rooms we were greeted by a bottle of cava on ice, a beautiful bouquet of flowers, fresh fruit plates a fully stocked free bar, and a copy of our Tasting menu for the evening. As if this wasn't enough, the staff at reception had organised a personalized private tour of Plasencia with a very competent guide. The bathroom had been recently remodelled to include a power shower and whirpool spa bath, and an elegant range of toiletries are included, with a reasonable sized bar of soap ( my biggest gripe about paradors, apart from the beds, is the 3cm square soap wafer in its impenetrable packaging)The staff couldn't have been pleasanter: a memorable stay, shame about the beds !
We enjoyed our stay at the parador very much. The only thing is that the bed was not great and the pillows could be better. A better mattress would do wonders and a lot more points, in my view. Thanks
