Built in 1550, his hotel is said to be the oldest in England. It housed Mary Queen of Scotts for a couple years before Elizabeth I decided to behead her. The location is excellent, directly across from an extraordinarily beautiful park and close to restaurants. The town of Buxton itself is picturesque--like what you'd expect to find just outside of Hogwarts. The Peak District is beautiful in general.
