Stayed one night in this hotel during transit thru Busan. Prices are reasonable and the room is spacious. The room window offers a nice view to Busan. The staff was kind and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
Once this hotel commanded a marvelous view over the harbor and the sea, nowadays some high rising buildings are blocking parts of the landscape. Try to get a room in the upper floors. So-called de lux rooms for two are spacious. Many years have passed since this hotel was built and the best days are over no doubt. But it is clean, the service is OK and the price reasonable. If you like to walk this is a good choice in the area of Jeongju. Try to explore some of the small routes down the hill which will save some time and give a good impression of ordinary city peoples life.
The COMMODORE hotel is located in Yeongju, 30min walking distance to Lotte Dpt Store and main shopping area, and abt 20min walking distance to Pusan Station. It has an antique Korean architecture and design throughout, which is pleasing to the eye and very original. It is very popular with business travelers, especially those in shipping, like myself. It is 10min driving distance to old container terminal and abt 1 hour from new port. Actually i have stayed in this hotel a few more times before since 2010, but never took the time to do a proper review. During my last visit, i was accommodated in a large room in 14th floor. It was very spacious and clean, the design however looks very old and could have been renewed over time without losing its antique touch. Bathroom could have been maintained a little better as well. It had a large flat screen tv, air conditioning, mini-bar and all the other stuff you expect at this category. Wi-fi was available throughout the hotel for free, it was stable with average transfer speed abt 500kb/sec Breakfast buffet had lots of choices and you can really gain some weight if you don't control yourself. It's one of those things that have not changed over the years and they should keep it like that. Lunch and dinner was OK, but i would like to have more choices for western food. Room service menu was somewhat disappointing, the menu had few "standard" choices, like spaghetti, burger and steak, but neither was particularly tasty to leave me desiring for more. Laundry service was quick, although 1st time they mixed some of my clothes with another customer's, but thankfully they were found soon. Housekeeping was available every day, even weekends. It was a little annoying during the first week or so, that the housekeeping staff did not understand the "do not disturb" sign on the door and kept calling to ask about room clean. If you have spent all night working onboard a ship and need to get a few hours rest during the day, it surely does not help. They "got the message" though after a while. The entire hotel staff were very polite and helpful, except the "bell boy" who never cares to open the door for you or to assist with your luggage up the stairs. He has been like that for all the years i remember him, so i guess different "culture"? dunno Overall my stay was satisfactory, but i believe there is room for improvement. IMHO, Koreans have a very "fixed" perspective on things and rarely accept that anything needs to be changed, especially from foreigners, but i hope to be proven wrong. It is a very decent hotel and a popular option among business travelers, but since there are now some new hotel options in the area, i will be exploring those next time instead.
Stumbling into the Commodore at 12:30am, having arrived in Busan unexpectedly, I was impressed that not only was the hotel happy, if a little surprised, to accommodate late night walk ins, but were also actually better value than some of the other hotels in the area that lack its stature. Some of the fittings were a little dated due to the age of the hotel, but this added to its charm. We were given a complimentary breakfast, which was great, although the hot drinks selection could use a little variety.
Couldn't stop taking photos of this hotel! It was so beautiful and amazing, inside and out! And location was good for all the experiences we were after in the area! Would highly recommend staying here when in Busan!
Lovely Korean/Chinese atmosphere. Nice design, rooms are very nice, decorated eastern... bad thing: alcohol at the room while underaged guests staying alone in the room. And it is hard to get there by foot! A lot of stairs!
Lovely arcitecture and a beautiful building from the outside and from the inside at the day time and at night time. The rooms are less impressive but at the whole its a good choice in the southern side of the city.
This hotel interior design had a big WOW factor. It has very detailed korean ornament all over the place. Like taking us to ancient history of Korea where all prince and princesses come alive. The room was spacious enough, clean bedsheet and has a bathtub too.
We had a great time at the Commodore hotel in Busan. The style, big rooms, excellent service, very good breakfast and an excellent location. Visit the gardens and ask for a as higher floor as possible. Tou will enjoy the view
When we got in the room, the floor appeared not to be clean: hair and nails cut on the floor in the room, used cotton bud... I asked for the floor to be clean. But nothing has been done. I am very disapointed by the quality of the service.
