We have stayed at IQ Callao many times, including having many of our wedding guests stay here 6 years ago. This time, however, we had a BIG FAIL upon arrival since our room 8B had been used and not cleaned. We found and unmade bed, dirty dishes in the kitchenette sink, and a really dirty bathroom. Thankfully, we're fluent in Spanish and were able to go down and complain to the guard in the building (it was Sunday afternoon and hence nobody from IQ at the Lobby) and he called somebody and they switched us to another room. Still, with so many options in Buenos Aires, this was a big downer and we may look elsewhere next time.
Stayed here for a few days while visiting BA. Apartments have a nice design and enough space to stay 2 people for some time. Location was good for us as it offered a central location in between areas we wanted to visit. Standard is ok but in need of some maintenance, it seems like quick fixes are being used when repairing. We had some problems that we pointed out and were told the handyman would come next week, little use when we were leaving same Friday. Water pressure in the shower is bad but this might be a BA thing. The breakfast is offered at a near by cafe and is limited to medialunas and a hot drink. You are better of eating breakfast elsewhere.
They have at least 3 routers per flor. Before 2 weeks they are improve speed based on the main gateway but infrastructure of routers with shared network surveillance cameras on the same subnet is disaster. They don't have wall plug for internet in apt. Master router on the PB is down every 2 days and only this one is with full throughput like PB hot spot. Channel redistribution is not created and people all the time complaining. I was here before 1y and they have still the same problem. Use PLC or implement QoS in each router. Crome cast and Apple TV is imposible to use.
When I go to Buenos Aires, I like to stay in apartments instead of hotels. For 2 to 4 weeks, it is much more comfortable, and usually a lot less expensive. I had a unit on the 9th floor, and its layout and storage was great. All the rooms have a balcony. I like the back of the building for less street noise. The front dest service was excellent. (Note: even though this is listed as a hotel, the front desk is only staffed 8-5, Mon to Sat.) Basically each apartment is independently owned. Some owners own several. A few people live there year round, but basically most are then put into the rental pool. Having said that, some units may not be furnished well, or kept in good repair. My unit was right below the pool, and it was obvious the pool is leaking. Also a bit noisy during the pool hours (9-22 hrs) as most of the roof deck noises come through. Also to note, and this is known up front, the cleaning is done weekly, as is standard on apartment rentals, but not for hotels. This for me is fine. You can also get towels refreshed for a fee (something not available on most apartment rentals) Having a pool and deck was great for afternoon relaxation and sun. THe gym is not great, and some of the equipment was in disrepair ( elipticals). The only very negative thing was the WIFI is VERY slow, and sometimes just won't connect. The only place it seems strong is in the lobby, and at night you will see several people on their laptops sitting there. The routers were reset several times but the problem persisted. Overall it is a nice size apartment for 1, or 2, people., in a great location. Service was great, and I would defintely go back again. It also was a lot less expensive than renting private apartments through a rental service.
Only problem is with the cleaning of the apartment, it doesnt get cleaned very often and the towel of the bath keeps wet all days. Bed clothe keeps unchanged while apartment space is good enough. TV is poor on channels, while location is excelent. Breakfast is poor but you may not pay for it in advance.
Our room was clean and spacious and included kitchenette, small living and a very large bathroom. The apartments are located in a very nice neighborhood called Recoleta with lots of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. They don't offer breakfast or restaurant service at all, there is no room service for short stays and there is no iron/ironboard available at room, the only one available is located in the laundry room but is broken. You can have your breakfast at Nucha Cafe located just outside the main entrance. The room we stayed can be noisy because of traffic.
It is a fact that is hard to find a good hotel in BsAs. Even when you pay a lot of money you can be disappointed, so imagine when you pay LESS money. I chose this place because the hotel I usually stay at was booked, and it seemed to me that it was a good Price for the location and chose it over airbnb. Bad choice. I did not read the bad reviews until i was boarding the plane, and I immediately regretted it. The building in the outside and lobby seems nice but rooms: 1. Are dirty 2. My sheets were stained. 3. Towels were like old racks. Super old towels, looked disgusting. 4. Amenities poor. 5. It was freaking cold. NO heater you can control. 6. Walls in need of a renovating. They all look old and dirty. 7. I paid that night and the deposit and left that very same day. When I was paying that night, there were other guests complaining about the hotel. Also leaving.
I'm glad we stayed at Recoleta instead of a hotel in downtown as most of the tourists. It is well located to move around the city. The hotel is very modern and the rooms are comfy. Around the neighborhood there are many many nice places to eat, shop and just wander around.
I booked the apartment despite the bad reviews (which by the way are entirely accurate) because the location was very convenient for me and it had a pool. I will not go into a rant about all the things that "need improvement" as I am limited by the amount of characters, so here is the executive summary: The good: location, size of apartment or room if you go for the XL, nice small balcony, "designy look" (translates to bad quality all-around), reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the area. The bad: the standard of cleanliness is very very low. Curtains and the inside of closets were overcome by mold (I attach a pic of the curtains but have many more!), Weekly cleaning service is sub-standard (one roll of toilet paper per week?? come on people!) The pool was not working (completely green) and despite complaints from several guests queuing at the front desk it took them about 3 days of scorching heat to have somebody come and fix the filter. Even after that the water was a bit blurry still... Poor customer service at all stages, before the stay during booking and during the stay. On check-out I was told I would be contacted by email regarding compensation for the pool problem, still waiting "to be contacted" two months down the line. Stay here if all you care about is location and have no expectations about, service quality and cleanliness.
To be honest, my stay was terrible. I booked an apartment in Pueyrredón Avenue, from the same owner and business. To begin with, the day we were supposed to check in, me and my family were delayed, so we arrived past the check-in time. We asked for the keys (because we had informed the staff that we were going to arrive late) and nobody had kept them. They sent us everywhere and nowhere at the same time looking for the keys - which in the end we didn't find. We had to stay somewhere else, and when we went back the next day they sent us to a smaller apartment than the one we had booked. They gave the money back to us, but then things got much worse. In the last day of our stay, the cleaning service came to tidy up the apartment. But then we realised that the maid had stolen a big bag from us, where we had placed new shoes and things that had a value of 200 dollars, more or less. For that reason, we went desperately to claim the money back and everybody deflected the blame on someone else. Nobody took responsibility and we couldn't demand the business because we were leaving the next day. The worst holidays of my life.
