The concept of this boutique hotel is very unique. We really enjoyed the room facilities -double spa, sauna, balcony. The breakfast buffet was healthy and delicious. We appreciated the hotel recommendations of restaurants, tango shows, relocate cemetery information etc printed on recycled paper. I must highlight the exceptional hospitality and customer service of the front desk leader Celeste and her team, the breakfast staff and the manager Ana. Any request was met with prompt service and attention. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable. We hope to return one day.
Casa Calma - 4 star - We spent 2 nights at this boutique hotel before our cruise around South America. Our room was very spacious, bright and comfortable and the staff very pleasant, friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfasts were in the rear area of the ground floor - despite the area being a bit small and confined, the choice on the buffet was surprisingly varied and good and, if you wanted a hot breakfast, eggs were cooked to order. The hotel is near San Martin Plaza and is reasonably conveniently sited. A special thanks to Rodrigo on reception who spent a lot of time trying to chase up our pre-booked taxi to the cruise terminal which failed to arrive until several calls from him.
With only two rooms on each of 6 floors it's certainly small and you will never have to fight annoying groups. Each room is perfectly furnished and equipped with a shower, jacuzzi, even a small sauna. A tiny breakfast place downstairs, that doubles as a bar, serves very nice breakfast. The location is perfect for walking to the key attractions such as Theatre Colon (don't miss if in BA), Plaza de Mayo and some of Buenos Aires' best restaurants. Very helpful staff will make your visit a pleasure.
It is worth it to pay a little extra to stay at Casa Calma. From arrival to departure, the service was the star here - everyone we dealt with was super detail-oriented and attentive and making a real effort to make sure we were looked after, which I doubt we would have gotten at a larger hotel. We were given a top-floor room (902) -- it had more than enough space for the two of us with a modern, light and open design. I stay at a lot of hotels so I have my essentials checklist and they hit most of it - strong, central A/C system; fast wi-fi speed; no noise coming from the street level (the hotel is on more of a side street, anyway); a smart lighting system and of course, a comfortable bed. The surprises of the room - a towel warmer and most of all, the huge jacuzzi tub - soaking in that was just wonderful! I will mention one complaint and that is that the shower had very weak water pressure. There were lots of cute things the hotel did - like an honesty bar where you just wrote down what you took from their refreshment bar downstairs...and they did things like printing out a personalized news summary and the weather for the next few days. I thought a lot of thought was just pretty cool, along with all the hanging plants outside our room. Also, on Sunday places were just shut all around, so we had breakfast in the hotel and were pleasantly surprised - for about $10USD, it even included made-to-order eggs and some legitimately good desserts/pastries. The location is pretty central between all of the different neighborhoods anyone would want to check out in BA.
Our stay at Casma Calma was excellent. The rooms were exactly as pictured - clean, well maintained, roomy and comfortable. The staff also made the stay that much better. The staff truly wants you to have a pleasant stay. Rodrigo helped us check in early and had helpful recommendations around the city. Martin was also incredibly helpful while my friend and I scrambled to find transportation to the airport. We had run out of pesos and many cab drivers do not accept credit cards. Martin went above and beyond to call multiple car services as well as help us communicate with our Uber driver who eventually took us to the airport.
Enjoyed a great 2 nights here after an Antarctic cruise and thought it much better than the precruise Sheraton Convention. Hotel has 9 floors, 2 rooms per floor. Ours, 402, faced the back-no view but window boxes and ivy made a pleasant outlook, and it was blissfully quiet. Beds superbly comfortable and air con quiet and efficient. Modern style with white furniture and walls, light wood flooring. Plenty of space to unpack, and huge bathroom area with double jacuzzi bath, twin sinks and separate large shower. The breakfast room was small, with only 5 tables, but not really a problem. Lots of cold choices, pastries etc, and have eggs cooked to order. Breakfast was included in our deal, not sure how much otherwise. We were at least 30 years older than most of the other guests, but the young staff could not have been more helpful, sorting out restaurant reservations, taxis etc. They all spoke perfect English, and genuinely seemed pleased to have us as guests. Situated near everything a tourist would want I would highly recommend
We spent two weeks in Buenos Aires, one week at a Sheraton and the other at Casa Chalma. Both hotels were great but provided different services. Casa Chalma is a boutique hotel with only (18) rooms. The size of the hotel is its defining characteristic. After a few days, the staff knew our names and welcomed us when we returned to the hotel. The rooms are very modern and spacious, actually larger than our room at the Sheraton. We were in room 901 and it had a two person jacuzzi. The beds were very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep every night. There were only two rooms per floor so noise was not an issue. As others have written, the staff were unbelievably helpful in every way. If you want to get away from large hotel chains and spend time in an intimate setting, Casa Chalma is the place to be when visiting Buenos Aires! Highly recommended.
We were briefly passing thru Buenos Aires and this hotel positioned us in easy walking distance to Casa Rosada and Cementerio de Recoleta. The bonus is that the room is large and bright with a jacuzzi. AND they have incredibly helpful English speaking staff. Funny enough, we ran into people later in our trip who were raving about their hotel in Buenos Aires and when we asked where they stayed, it was Casa Calma. A great find!
Fantastic hotel, stayed here for 4 nights, great location for all attractions. Staff excellent and very friendly, English was perfect and always ready to help. Would recommend and definitely stay again!
We had a lovely 3 nights here. Our very comfortable room was at the front on the top floor, interesting roof top views and we enjoyed being able to open our window for fresh air. Location is excellent, you can walk to most areas (Recoleta, San Telmo, Plaza Mayor, Puerto Madero) quite easily. Tiny breakfast room which does what it needs to, and the honesty bar is a good touch. The young staff are excellent, so helpful. It seems to really matter to them that you enjoy your stay. We were given lists of restaurants, things to do and some Spanish vocab, this sort of attention to detail is not often seen. If you don't like the larger type of hotels then consider this one. This was our third trip to Buenos Aires and our fifth hotel, we would stay again.
