Positives: Very friendly and helpful staff and a decent sized room. A decent location as well, albeit quite a long way from many attractions. Negatives: The room was large but rather basic and we had a problem with the AC unit leaking all over the floor if we tried to make the room cooler. The breakfast was very basic, which was not uncommon in Argentina, but still one of the less impressive breakfasts we had. The location is a little away from what I would consider to be the main Palermo area and a long way from many of the main tourist attractions. Mind you, Buenos Aires is a big and busy city so perhaps that’s to be expected. Overall there was nothing majorly wrong with the hotel but by the same token it is hard to recommend highly. My advice is to work out where you might like to go during your stay in BA and then consider travel time and cost before booking this hotel.
Quite frankly, I think the concept of a boutique hotel is useless except if it is an exceptional site somewhere in a remote location. Nonetheless, the hotel was great with most importantly an amazing breakfast. Second, the rooms are huge with bathroom, kitchenette, plenty of storage and a huuuuuge king size bed. If you're looking for a safe and quiet area, head there! Plus there lots of incredible restaurants, quick eats and coffee shops nearby. Right at the corner of the street when you take left, there is an amazing empanada and pastry place and in front (Carisol), the best lemonade you'll ever have.
This place is really huge and the customer service is superb. The rooms are really big and extremely comfortable. The breakfast is delicious. My husband is a celiac and everyday they made sure to give us rice cakes with our breakfast. I totally recommend staying in this place if you want a relaxing time. I say a relaxing time because the area is more like a neighborhood. You walk out and there are lots of restaurants and bars. Many of them close early and you can walk a good 5 minutes away and find bars and restaurants open until all hours of the night. So if you are looking for a relaxing time, in a friendly atmosphere, with good customer service, this is the place! Again, it is a bit far from some of BA's top tourist attractions.
We stayed for 4 nights. The room was spacious, a luxury in it self. However not clean. Hairs and stains from previous visitors, beds with ripped pillow and synthetic blankets, bathroom door half de solved by moist and a shower that can not be adjusted correctly in temperature and detection. Only 1 small bottle of water on arrival. Breakfast: old coffee in dispenser, toaster not working but put in the same place every day. Meat and cheese in the open and not chilled, scrambled eggs as the where prepared the day before. Nespresso coffee at a surcharge. The promised free bikes: dangerous heaps of scrap metal. Not working correctly and on top of that almost never available. Hotel assistance: sending you to the worst restaurants in the area just to receive their commission and not concerning them selves about your wellbeing or preference. Not mentioning that one of the best Italian restaurants is just next to the hotel. No first aid kit or any help in need for bandaids, aspirin, etc. The Towel Mystery: At checkout the receptionist took a towel out of a plastic bag. “It this your towel”? He asked. It has black makeup stains on it. Our surprised looks made even the guy sitting on the couch grin. “If this is your towel than we have to charge you extra for cleaning it” I was wondering: did they check our room between coming down and checking out or was it yesterday’s towel? I couldn’t get a single word out and just nodded no. We payed our bill and left. We travel a lot and this year we had more than 140 hotel nights all over the world but this “towel” experience was a first. By the way Buenos Aires is definitely a great city to visit.
This is a good hotel, maybe a little bit too expensive for what it really is, but it's well located in Palermo area. Careful because if nothing is done, this hotel can become crappy. Materials used are sometimes old or antique, like the bathrooms ... Breakfast is pleasant, and the personel is always efficient and nice.
Was there for a wedding. Stayed 3 nights. The breakfast is ok - was included with our rate. Ideal for the tourist who wants to grab a quick bite and go out to see the city. The loft was a great apt. AC worked on the bottom and top ( perfectly cool ). There were 2 bathroom and a fairly big balcony! I would def recommend this place - paid less than 140 USD a night!
The hotel is pretty good but it must, considering that is on average u$120 per day. But the fact that drives me crazy is that you have to pay extra u$10 to get a cappuccino for breakfast! Moreover, they would serve you a nesspreso. Come on man, a nesspreso capsule is just $1 and you are charging 10 bucks to my bill! This is called fraud! I cannot understand this philosophy. Most hotels in this price range offer a nesspreso machine in the room. By the way, breakfast buffet was just good.
The Atempo Design Hotel is located in Palermo, which is a short walk from restaurants, bars, grocery stores and cafes. The hotel itself has been renovated and quite new. The rooms are spacious and clean with good balcony views of Buenos Aires. However the downside of this, is that it can get quite loud on the weekend if your room is facing the main street with the bars. The staff are very friendly and always willing to give advice to tourists, from where to eat, to what sites to visit. From an amenities perspective, the hotel does not do laundry, however there is a laundry place within a 5 minute walk which are fast and reasonably priced. There is a breakfast area and bar within the hotel as well. The hotel also provides bicycles for hire. Overall an enjoyable stay.
Very nice hotel with spacious rooms. Some of the furniture is a bit outdated. Very convenient location for whom wanta to roam around Palermo and its bars and restaurants. Still have the taste of the breakfast chipas in my mouth!
We were really impressed with Atempo at first. The staff were friendly and helpful in every way. Rooms were nice - love the polished concrete and space! Breakfast was really good too in a bright and light-filled room. Location was perfect....less than a 10-minute walk to the subway line D which takes you to the centre of BA...and there are lots of good cafes, bars and restaurants around. The big problem that ruined our stay was the non-existent soundproofing. Both nights we were woken in the early hours by the partying guests in the room next to us - we could hear them laughing, talking, singing and even the phone ringing. It was a nightmare! The second night we had a taxi booked for 5:00 a.m. so needless to say we got no sleep before our long flight home. It would have been appreciated if the hotel staff had been more proactive in silencing the guests. We complained both nights and were told after our first complaint that someone would speak to them - which clearly didn’t happen. I’ve also emailed the hotel twice since our stay regarding this issue and have had no response.
