Hotel looked bit dated, but clean and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast buffet was not bad, but the sellection could be better. The balcony door won't open. Great location - close to everything.
Please read all of this. I came here with my sister and fathers partner after my father had a heart attack on the Danube. Our life has been a turmoil since hoping he will recover and organising repatriation. Visiting hospital every day and trying to hold it together. That is our awful situation. These suites are wonderful. The cost is very reasonable especially when divided between three. This is a very grand 1920s (?) style building. Rooms are massive, ceiling is very high, it's like going back in time. Elaborate decorations. But very clean. There is a massive foyer. The reception staff are exceptionally caring and helpful and going the extra mile to help in solving numerous problems in this critical situation. Our suite is beautiful. Sleeps 3 in two superking beds in two rooms. Beds extremely comfortable. Massive bathroom with corner bath. Hot water good. Brilliant air conditioning. Wifi very good and free. Very peaceful in here. No hustle and bustle in the hotel which is what we need. There is a mini bar with fridge which we are stowing water/milk in. There is an electric kettle and coffee/milk, you can buy tea next door no problem. Small supermarket and chemist next door. Breakfast is good. As much coffee or tea as you want, good fruit and continental breakfast items. Hot breakfast food too. The old Town is just five minutes walk away. Many reasonable restaurants there. Metro station is two minutes walk away. If you need a taxi make sure the hotel calls it for you as the drivers will probably try to rip you off otherwise. All hotels can do this, it's guarantees the price per kilometre that you will pay (About 30p per kilometre) In the door of the hotel there is an exchange desk which does not charge any commission. The rate today was 5.01 to sell sterling, very reasonable. There is an ironing board and iron. Laundry facilities which we will use for the first time ever. I'd better not go on anymore we really couldn't have found anywhere better. I would rate this 10 out of five if I co would recommend ++++
Location of this hotel is excellent. It's middle of old town and pilata romana. Intercontinental hotel is a minute away. Very central. Hotel is basis and has old school feeling . Rooms are spacious and bathroom are big too with huge bathtub. Reception is very friendly and also has currency exchange facility with good rates .
This is an interesting place that has a certain vintage feel to it. The rooms are almost like small apartments with separate bedroom, relaxing space and bathroom. The decor and furniture is old fashioned and the windows are draughty so there is constant noise from the main road below. There is a kettle but no cups and the one pillow is so thin it might as well be an empty pillowcase! Breakfast selection is poor and the tables are in a very awkward layout in the small room. The location however is great; just outside the university metro stop and close enough to the centre but far enough to avoid the crowds. A little tip: when you check out leave yourself plenty of time because they won't let you leave until the strange porter man has checked your room!
Myself and 15 friends traveled to Romania last week and stayed in this hotel - really good! I was expected the usual basic hotel but big clean rooms, air con, nice bathrooms and really helpful staff. Plus great location! Very impressed for this sort of weekend, good value too
Close to old town & attractions hotel staff friendly & helpful room clean tidy & spacious. The breakfast was nice and could selet what you wanted wide choice. First room i had was at front so very noisy but when windows closed blocked out 2nd stay room at back very quite again nice spacious clean well presented
I would like to highlight the location of the Comfort Suites, just next to the Intercontinental Hotel which meant being in the centre of Bucharest. Thus, the 783 bus which take you the the airport stops just opposite to the Hotel at the time of arriving and two minutes by walking distance when it comes to go to the airport in order to come back home or rent a car a day to visit Sinaia, Brasov, Bran or other cities near the capital. On the other hand, the universitatea subway station is closer than the bus stop even, and there are also plenty of taxis outside so that I would recommend everyone to stay in this hotel. Related to other issues, the staff was not especially friendly but they were simply correct, good cleanness, the check out time was at 12 a.m. If I had to say a negative point, the building is covered by an advertisement which is iluminated and it might be disturbed for some clients, fortunately it was not my case.
The staff was kind and willing to help. The suite that we stayed in was very big and offered a view of the city. It was also very clean and the bed relaxing and huge. The breakfast was typical, nothing special but satisfying. P.S. the breakfast shown in the uploaded picture has nothing to do with the breakfast we were served, ours was way more tasty looking, nicely placed and in a different room.
So me and my partner spent 5 nights here at the end of January. We are avid travellers and don't mind slumming it now and again, but this place was rather nice for us! The rooms are lovely and clean big and open spaces. The bathroom was fantastic, we had a shower with two wash heads and a big corner bath. The rooms are absolutely fantastic and clean. The only thing to be aware of is there is two of the same hotel on the same street 150m apart from each other and the taxi dropped us at the wrong one. There is a 3 star and a 4 star, we stayed at the 4 which is further into the city. The reception is a small but quaint and has lovely staff. The only down side was the big light from a sign covering our balcony shining through the room and the curtains weren't quite blackout, The busy road outside with a lot of sirens and horns all night. But there was a lot of civil unrest and protests at the time of our stay happening just at victoriei square. Oh and we only had 1 pillow each which are rather thin and a kettle but no tea/ coffee. But we had free breakfast which is ok but not world class, after all it is free. You get sausage, eggs and fruit etc. This hotel is perfect for its location to everything and the underground is right outside overall I can't complain as it was lovely and clean and right in the centre to see everything and I was able to book a trip to Transylvania doing two castles (bran and pelles) right from reception. It states 4 star it is 4 star. To sum it up it was cheap for 5 nights, clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
Location is pretty good, close to the public parking. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious, with old furniture, but that kind of goes with the building. Poor front desk service. Not so many other pros but the price.
