Best burger in Brussels, good breakfast, location is great and staff was friendly and very accomodating. Perfect place for an extended weekend city trip! Room was very pleasant, the bar and nightlife were great without compromising the feel-good factor of a temporary home away from home. Great place, great job by the staff!
We stayed for a long weekend here and have just returned, on the whole we enjoyed it! I did have one negative, the restaurant. My partner's food was poor quality and it took us half hour to complain, by which time it could not be resolved. We were met with an excuse as to why it was bad, and nobody really wanting to admit fault or responsibility. When we were offered our drinks topped up as a gesture, we accepted, and then were given a bill by the same member of staff... I must say though, this was resolved immediately when I spoke to the manager (tall gentleman, very helpful and a pleasure to deal with) the following day and we were compensated with apology & without a fuss. Everything else was a positive, the vibe of the hotel is really cool and we really enjoyed sitting in the bar area and taking in the atmosphere
The reception is a shared bar area, so the staff are pre-occupied with serving drinks and taking orders whilst trying to run the reception at the same time. We were met with a 75 euro deposit which was not mentioned anywhere beforehand, I don’t think it’s been paid back as of yet. Dinner service in the restaurant that night was shambolic, being sat at length without orders being taken, food showing up before the drinks orders and countless other tables just getting up and leaving because of the slowness of the service. Food was actually tasty, but just not worth the wait and lack of service. The room’s tv was broken as well as the kettle for hot drinks. We rang twice to have this looked into, eventually what I think was the night manager came up to check and was friendly enough and apologised and said there’d been some issues with the tv’s and if they couldn’t get it fixed in the morning they’d move us to another room and that it wouldn’t be a problem. After returning back to the hotel the following evening, the room hadn’t been looked into and we the first receptionist told us in so many words ‘because we’d booked a cheaper rate room on Expedia, what did we expect and that there were no rooms to be moved into – which antagonised the situation completely. After a heated discussion of wanting to speak to a manager (who we were told wasn’t in, repeatedly) - a spare room magically appeared after they made a phone call (presumably to the manager) and we were rushed out of our room in a hurry by an angry receptionist to a room which was dusty and hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly but was functioning. If we weren’t’ leaving after one more night, we would have just checked out to go to another hotel, as my partner was in tears because of the treatment that evening which left a sour taste. Despite having late check out on our agreement, a member of staff also appeared at our door before the 2pm slot to try and get us out the room beforehand. Don’t be fooled by the reviews, they’re more concerned about pouring beer for punters in their 24 hour bar than actually taking responsibility of their guests wellbeing and there seemed to be a few other annoyed customers that weekend, so i wouldn't really trust the reviews all coming in as legitimate. I'm glad to have left when we did.
Me and a friend stayed here for a long weekend to visit Brussels, the hotel is clean with good facilities and a great bar. In a decent location in the area of Louisa. Only 2 negatives for us which stopped it from getting 5 stars was the road noise was ridiculous at night, and the price of the burgers we had there was so high and they was mega greasy. But other than that a very good hotel
Great hotel, the rooms are basic but you dont need anything more. easy walking distance to the centre of Brussels. The food served in the bar is good, and it is a hive of activity. would recommend for a weekend stay.
Lovely hotel, looks amazing inside the reception and also the rooms. Only problems were, we had a European adapter but could not plug it in as it wouldn't fit so when I asked the reception they said you had to get a Belgium one which I wasn't impressed with so I left with no battery on my phone. The room offers films to watch but we tried two films which froze 5 minutes in on both films so if you got kids don't rely on the tv. The shower and bed were great in the rooms. Staff was friendly too and I would definitely go back. The distance to the grand place wasn't far at all, so worth all the walking to see the sights of Belgium.
Everything was fine for me. The breakfast was excellent, and well prepared. I stayed your hotel twice, and formar mercure many times, so everything is familiar for me. If it is possible, I prefer bathtub.
Stayed at Penta for an overnight stay for a business trip and highly recommed it. Accessible location, room was spacious and comfortable and the staff amazing. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay here again.
My visit to pentahotel Brussels was average. My room was located at the front of the hotel so I could hear traffic noises and building works throughout the day into the evening. The heating/air con in the room was very loud at times. I ordered room service which was very tasty. On arrival to the hotel I was asked to pay nearly £90 English pounds?? I was told my Expedia that this would be a deposit, yet I still haven’t received my money back yet.
Possibly the worst customer service and reception ever received on a city break for us. The man on reception was the most ignorant and unpleasant individual we have ever met on our travels. He was unfamiliar with hotel policies and decided to threaten to cancel my booking as I was refusing to pay security deposit and city taxes by credit card. Clearly states on payment policies that you can pay by cash card etc . He then went on to me that “I” hadn’t read or payed attention to the booking confirmation ,could I not read? At this time my phone was dead and I couldn’t retrieve my details however I charged my phone after my partner put the deposit on his credit card. After twenty minutes I returned to the counter with my booking confirmation and READ out the terms and conditions ,policies and payment information to this man . As he knew I was correct he continued to roll his eyes, shu me away from the desk with hand gestures until I asked to speak to a manager . Management put it down to a language barrier!!! Disgraceful behavior . Myself and my partner asked for a food menu later in the evening 22.00 to be told they aren’t serving food however at 23.15 a waitress ordered us a pizza after my partner noticed other people still ordering food. The bed in the room was large however room was freezing despite heating on all night . Definitely the only bad experience of all our 40 city breaks and holidays on four different continents . Very disappointing
