My visit to pentahotel Brussels was average. My room was located at the front of the hotel so I could hear traffic noises and building works throughout the day into the evening. The heating/air con in the room was very loud at times. I ordered room service which was very tasty. On arrival to the hotel I was asked to pay nearly £90 English pounds?? I was told my Expedia that this would be a deposit, yet I still haven’t received my money back yet.
Possibly the worst customer service and reception ever received on a city break for us. The man on reception was the most ignorant and unpleasant individual we have ever met on our travels. He was unfamiliar with hotel policies and decided to threaten to cancel my booking as I was refusing to pay security deposit and city taxes by credit card. Clearly states on payment policies that you can pay by cash card etc . He then went on to me that “I” hadn’t read or payed attention to the booking confirmation ,could I not read? At this time my phone was dead and I couldn’t retrieve my details however I charged my phone after my partner put the deposit on his credit card. After twenty minutes I returned to the counter with my booking confirmation and READ out the terms and conditions ,policies and payment information to this man . As he knew I was correct he continued to roll his eyes, shu me away from the desk with hand gestures until I asked to speak to a manager . Management put it down to a language barrier!!! Disgraceful behavior . Myself and my partner asked for a food menu later in the evening 22.00 to be told they aren’t serving food however at 23.15 a waitress ordered us a pizza after my partner noticed other people still ordering food. The bed in the room was large however room was freezing despite heating on all night . Definitely the only bad experience of all our 40 city breaks and holidays on four different continents . Very disappointing
The room was great, especially the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed a little snack in the restaurant which was delicious! The bar itself is also very charming and it is nice to have designated areas for hotel guests so they are guaranteed a spot to relax. Staff was super friendly! Lovely stay in Penta!
This is our fourth stay at Penta. We love it. Ubication is perfect for us. Well comunicated, big and clean rooms, marvellous beds, charm and friendly personal. We'll come back. And the breakfast buffet is fantastic!
I booked Penta because it looked modern and the service seemed professional. However, when I got there, there was a queue for the check in because check in desk works as a bar, so it is quite crowded. But, I was done in about 20 minutes (okay, not so bad). The hallways are dark and without adequate lightning, and you can only heat yourself in rooms via air condition, therefore when you leave your room for a longer period it will be freezing. The pillow was absolutely awful, seemed like there was no stuffing at all :D Basically, you pay for the design, but not for the comfort :/
I stayed with four colleagues for two nights in this hotel (for an IT conference). The reception is located at the bar, and the check-in was way slower than necessary. I reserved all rooms with my credit card using HRS but every one of us needed to check-in separately and I needed to pay four times. But what I really dislike is their slow "free" Wifi. When I booked the room it said that in-room wifi would be included. It turned out that there is indeed free Wifi if you register with your name and room no., but it's limited to an unusable bandwidth of 256kbit/s and actually you had to pay for their "Premium" Wifi. The Hotel should really not say it's free, when in reality it's very very limited and could be barely used for emails. I really felt scammed on that regard. Furthermore I upgraded to a Penta PlayerPad Suite which included a pin-ball machine and a Playstation in the room. When I called the reception desk to ask where I could find the game pad controllers, they told me that there would be a huge demand for it and that I could pick them up, but have it just for 15 minutes. I'm not sure what they are doing with their pads (guess some guest stole them), but you shouldn't advertise a Playstation if you don't have the pad controllers available to use it. Overall, both issues left a rather bad impression to me and I wouldn't stay there again.
Second time I slept at the Penta Brussels : my favorite hotel ever for sure. And I've tried a lot. Delicious breakfast, big room (even for the classic one), quality of the bed, clean, fridge, cheap room-service (3€ charge), delicious burger, great view from the city when you are in the highest rooms, big bath-room. The only bad thing this time was the movie service didn't work and a few channel like TF1. But we don't choose the hotel for the TV. I'll be back again for sure !
I enjoyed the stay. Very cosy, the sort of beatnik - jazzy place. The staff was very helpful and friendly, which was very much appreciated. The only thing that bothered me was the internet connection, which was relatively ok at times but most of the times it took full minutes to load any page.
Good for younger groups, not so much if you are on a business trip. The rooms are spacious will all the amenities, the bed extremely comfortable, the towel not so much, they choose a trendy fashion label but forgot about the quality small and thin towels. The lounge is very spacious and modern, the bar is very alive mixed with guests and locals very trendy atmosphere, but the service well lots of room for improvement very slow. To summarize a great budget hotel well located, good if you are in a group and like to stay late in the bar and won't mind the poor service.
The rooms were modern, top quality, clean and well equipped. Check-inn was very poor. Took 15 minutes to check in 5 new arrivals and the service was slow and unfriendly. Also the internet was super slow (to force you to use payed wervice...?)
