Good locaton for basic needs

Got what I needed - overnight stay (and breakfast) for meetings elsewhere next day, chosen because of location and rate, primarily. Always need Internet connection, and it worked fine. Would do again.

Close to the train station. A little too close!

This hotel is adequate but by no means fancy. The rooms are clean and have the basic amenities. The hotel is located very close to the North Brussels Train Station, which makes it convenient for transit, but it also means that you must put up with the sound of trains entering and leaving the station at all hours. The hotel is not very convenient when traveling by car, as there is limited parking and many of the surrounding streets are one-way. The area in which the hotel is located is pretty seedy. There are a handful of strip clubs, s3x shops, and other red-light district establishments surrounding the hotel. The area to the eastern side of the North Train Station is pretty rough compared to the drastic difference on the western side (literally "the other side of the tracks"). Breakfast is included in the price, which is unusual for hotels in Brussels. The breakfast consists of both traditional Asian fare, as well as a nice variety of buffet items. Internet access is an additional charge. Overall, if you are looking for a single-night stay that is convenient to the train station, the Chao Chow Hotel is not a bad option. For a more luxurious and comfortable stay at about the same price, check out the Husa Park Presidential Hotel that is only a few short blocks away in a much more desirable part of town.

Nicely located just next to the nord station. Rooms are large, by no means fancy, but totally acceptable and great for 50 eur per night. Intenet connection is available for 10 eur per day, but is incredibly slow and basically useless, so I recommend rather finding an online cafe.

This is my favourite hotel in

This is my favourite hotel in Brussels: very good location for getting to the airport, and close to metro; large rooms well equiped, and very reasonable pricing. To reach perfection in my eyes it would need only to add the tea making facilities in the rooms and hot breakfast buffet incl. eggs.

Having stayed in many hotels in

Having stayed in many hotels in many cities over three decades, this is by far the most noisy one. All rooms overlook the main road, which is an echo chamber. It amplifies various noises -- cars beeping their horns, police sirens wailing, people shouting, etc. These noises continue throughout the night. For that reason, I have ticked 'location' as 'very bad'. Also the hotel's water/heating system periodically makes noises throughout the night, especially around 5am. Everything else was ok, but that is little consolation. If you are not accustomed to sleeping despite such noises, then choose another hotel.

The location of the hotel is not

The location of the hotel is not that good but it is very close to a metro station (Place Roger) and Main Station (Gare du Nord) which makes it very easy to travel to and from the airport etc. The area is a bit noisy during the night since trains are always coming and going. The staff are very friendly and do their utmost to help clients. Rooms are big and have all the necessities. The breakfast is good but they should add some sausages and toast, it will be better. Will obviously visit again when I am in Brussels.

There are hotels closer to the center, but it is a nice 15 - 20 min walk to the Grande Place and if you have to be at the Place Rogier or close to the Gare du Nord, this hotel has an excellent location. I stayed for three nights and got immediately an upgrade from a single room to a spacious double. The hotel serves a really good continental breakfast next to a Chinese breakfast, which I very much enjoyed. I will be back there!

I have stayed in this hotel several times as it offers large rooms (compared to any other Brussels hotels), well arranged, good value for money. If the breakfast offered more hot food and there were tea making facilities in the rooms, it would be always my hotel of choice.

Like others I was concerned at

Like others I was concerned at some reports but in fact found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. The breakfast standard rolls/bread/cheese/ham etc with noodles as additions. Room had good facilities but tatty rather than unclean and nice and large. Area found quite ok and we just walked from the hotel into town and didn't go near "red light" area at night - during day had loads cheap shops to look round. Obviously for the price not 3/4 star but perfectly fine for a cheap hotel.

metro station is literally across the road under a bridge! hard to find initially because the maps in the zuid station do not have the nord station outlined, but once situated, easy access to city! the breakfast was ample - coffee/tea, congee, breads, cereals, juices, rice noodles. good for travelers in search of a room- we spent the days sightseeing and hanging out and not in the room.

On first appearance, Chao Chow

On first appearance, Chao Chow looks fantastic. The furnishings are brand new and the location is great too. But at a second glance, it`s not that great: it really was quite a dirty hotel: to the point where I chose not to take a bath or use the toilet. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room not over the street and not on the first floor, I'm not a light sleeper but was still woken by the traffic and a couple of ambulances during my night there. Would I go to that hotel again? Likely not, I've been far more comfortable for far less.

Nice staff - but the surroundings are not good

This hotel is located very close to Brussels Red Light District, which may be a somewhat unpleasant surrounding for many people, especially at night. It is also very close to the railway. If your room faces the street you will hear the trains. You had to pay for the Wi-Fi, but the bandwidth was terrible low. It was not possible to surf, just check the e-mail. The positive side is that rooms are clean and spacy and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast, with an Asian touch, was also more than you usually may expect in many Brussels budget hotels.
