We stayed here during the pre-Christmas period. The communication and friendly welcome from day one was fantastic; the owners are very kind and helpful. We even found fresh food in the fridge and pantry, allowing us to have dinner upon our arrival (we arrived in the evening). This was quite unusual and we greatly appreciated it. The house was also very clean and equipped with every comfort. We also had parking in a convenient garage just a few steps from the house. Highly recommended.

Our hosts, Lotfi and Marie, gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived from the train station. They went out of their way to make us feel at home not only in their spotless house but in their charming Schaerbeek neighborhood, providing plenty of practical information about household appliances, public transportation, nearby grocery stores, local restaurants. Their generosity astonished us. In the kitchen we found an unexpected supply of groceries (bread, milk, eggs, coffee, tea, jam, fruit, crackers, a bottle of red wine, a box of excellent Belgian chocolates) for us to enjoy during our visit. When we asked for a restaurant recommendation--we were interested in typical Belgian cuisine--Marie suggested the Brasserie Saint Hubert (about 12 minutes walk from their house). On our first night we enjoyed a spectacular dinner there at a reasonable price. My spouse still raves about the marvelous marcassin de chevreuil and the sabayon. Merci, Marie! Our visit was in late November when the weather can be quite drizzly. Thankfully, our thoughtful hosts provided us with umbrellas. The flat was a peaceful haven to come back to after a busy day of sight-seeing. We found the bed super-comfortable, the heating very reliable, the European appliances (e.g. the new washer/dryer) easy for North Americans to use. With our strong interest in architecture, we also found the flat conveniently located for touring the modern EU buildings as well as several Art Nouveau houses by Horta and Strauven.

I would do this review in French so that Mary and Lofti could feel the full essence of my heartfelt gratitude for their hospitality, kindness, grace, and professionalism. But I want others to know this too. I’ve stayed at many top rate VRBO locations for travel. This listing is without debate the BEST one ever for me. The hosts are true human beings in tune to the needs of a visiting traveler and have prepared an apartment (plein de) full of all necessary things to support starting a séjour. Unparalleled attention not only to detail, but also practicality. The location of the listing is perfect for both working and vacationing. Access to buses, metro, and simply walking (even at night) are convenient and safe. I had several high-end meetings that I could either walk to and from or connect with public transportation and show up on time and prepared. The neighborhood is unique, safe, and diverse. From art nouveau to Mediterranean flare, Schaerbeek safely has it all. You will enjoy this stay and grace à Mary and Lofti you will settle in comfortably and experience the charm of Brussels and surround areas. Bravo Mary and Lofti for making complete strangers feel part of our human community . Can’t wait to stay there again soon. Au fond du mon Coeur!!

Stay here if you can! Lofti and Mary have made a beautiful apartment fitted with every possible thing you could need to stay a night or a year. The kitchen is a true cooks delight with many items already included such as eggs, milk, coffee and butter. My 4 night stay even had wine and chocolates. The welcome was warm and caring. I felt more like a friend than a guest.

Great Stay in Brussels!

My wife and I enjoyed six night at Lofti and Mary’s apartment. They both met us upon checking-in, gave an in-depth tour of the apartment, ensuring we knew how to operate the stove, washing machine, etc. Lofti showed us the secure parking garage and parking space reserved for us - very close by! The apartment has a great binder including information on local transit and restaurants. We were surprised and thankful for the food and drinks in the apartment at our arrival available for our use: yogurt, butter, bread, jam, eggs, orange juice, beer, milk, fruit basket, and a bottle of wine - exceptional hospitality! There is a large supermarket about 15-minutes walk - we purchased items for three dinners made in the apartment. We used the apartment as a ‘hub’ to ‘spoke’ out to Bruges, Ghent, and Dinant. Everything in the kitchen worked well. The washing machine did a great job on our clothes. The bathroom shower had plenty of hot water. We found the bed a bit firm, but in all our travels, beds are the one thing that simply will never be perfect for everyone as we all have unique preferences (wide range from soft to firm beds)…we prefer firm over too soft as too soft wreaks havoc on backs. WiFi was fast enough to stream movies on our laptop with no buffering. Overall a terrific stay - we would stay here again!

I just spent another 7 days in this apartment. For the past 3 years, I am always been going to this place. It is kept very clean - the hosts (Mary and Lotfi) are very nice. They alway make sure you do not miss anything. On my arrival, there is always some basic food in the fridge and some fruits as well. Close to the Parc du Cinquantenaire - Nice little places (grocery, resto, bars) along the Noyer street.Will go back again

Brussels home base

First impressions were with the owners and it was excellent. They provided detailed information and instructions including multiple ways of getting to the property via multiple transportation options. We were driving a rental car and the fact they offered a garage was a huge bonus! They live in a separate unit directly above so they are available if needed. The home was spotless and so well stocked! The kitchen has been fully renovated and offers every conceivable appliance, kitchen gadgets galore! They thoughtfully provided some bottles of water, coffee, eggs, creamer, yogurt and fresh fruit.The bathroom is small (compared with US oversized things) but also spotless and well stocked. The washer and dryer in the home were another big bonus as we were traveling for several weeks and definitely had some laundry. The bedroom is right off the neighborhood street, but there’s a privacy tint and multiple styles of shades and blackout shades and it wasn’t an issue. A good restaurant almost Nextdoor and several markets were within walking distance. We loved the location away from the hustle of Brussels. They were wonderful hosts, did a great job walking us through the home at check in and we actually never saw them again during our stay (so don’t worry about privacy). I would definitely recommend this home. And just as a side note, definitely go visit Bruges!

Cosy apartment for 2

This apartment is nicely situated with access to bus and metro lines, only a 10 minutes to reach central sites. It is comfortable and well maintained and the owners Mary and Lofti are very warm and welcoming. Windows in front and doors to back enclosed courtyard give cross ventilation, it was 24 degrees so we appreciated this element. The owners keep it well stocked with fruit, yogurt, bread , all you need for your first morning. we truly appreciated their welcome and kindness and would return again.

GREAT little VRBO in Brussels!

This modern, ultra-clean and neat little apartment is conveniently located near Central Brussels and two major bus routes. It's an older neighborhood but there are three excellent restaurants and one incredible Italian Pasticceria (pastry shop) within easy walking distance. The available garage unit made it a great place if you have a rental car, as we did. On-street parking anywhere in BRU is very hard to find and expensive! Mary and Lotfi (the owners) live directly above the ground-floor unit, and are SUPER to deal with. They gave us a very thorough in-briefing despite our flying into BRU pretty late at night. They had stocked the place with everything we could have needed for the first couple of days, and were available 24/7 for help if needed. Plus: Lotfi walked us to the garage at 06:30 AM for our early departure so we didn't have to get creative turning in the garage door opener. We couldn't have asked for a better "Pied a terre" in Brussels, and would go back there in a heartbeat. And BTW: did I mention that all this comes at a BARGAIN price!? We cannot recommend this place highly enough...

Excellent apartment in a great location

Two week stay in December for the Christmas markets. Our hosts met us when we arrived and explained everything about the apartment and how to get around Brussels. The apartment was well stocked with food, drinks, bread, cheese, chocolates, coffee, etc. We are a little older, in our 70's, and we loved this place. Everything was new and modern and clean. We walked (once) to the Park and Grote Markt but it was a 2 mile walk. There is a bus just 2 minutes from the apartment and it takes you to the Metro and the North Train Station. The public transportation in Brussels is excellent and cheap. There are restaurants and grocery markets close by.The internet was fast and reliable. We always rent thru VRBO when we travel and this was the best apartment we have rented in the last 4 years.

A Home Away From Home

From the moment I arrived for my two week stay in Brussels, I was positively thrilled that I had booked this spotlessly clean, conveniently located, and wonderfully kitted out apartment from Mary and Lotfi. First time in Brussels

This property is very close to the bus stops that will take you directly to and from the north train station which is very helpful if you plan on touring other parts of Belguim. The area is old Brussels, with small grocery stores in the area. The hosts were very helpful and made sure everything was okay, they even leave food in the apartment so you don't have to go out right away to get food. Overall, if we returned to Brussels again, we would stay at this apartment again.

A perfect choice for Brussels

We had a wonderful 11-day experience at Lotfi and Mary’s apartment. We had searched for quite a while for the right place to stay for our holiday and this was it. The apartment is exactly as promised and more – equipped with top quality appliances and kitchenware, and supplied with all kinds of food items that meant we had no food worries for several days and even benefitted from some staples for the entire length of our stay. The apartment itself is comfortable with lots of lounging and storage space (too bad the weather did not allow us to sit outside at the bistro table!). It was a lovely place to come home to at the end of a long day of touristing. The neighbourhood is residential and quiet. There is a small grocery store, butcher and bakery nearby, and other excellent food sources a little further afield. We used the no. 61 bus which stops almost outside the door, and goes to the Brussels Noord train station, and in the other direction connects with trams to take you pretty well anywhere you want to go. We paid on the bus/trams with our contactless credit cards, possibly a bit more expensive than tickets but extremely convenient, and there is a daily limit. And no review would be complete without mentioning the warm hospitality and assistance from Mary and Lotfi. They were accommodating and helpful. Having them close at hand was a bonus. We are grateful to them for helping to make our stay in Brussels such a success.

This was the best rental experience that we’ve ever had. We were warmly welcomed by Lotfi and shown the rental unit. It was scrupulously clean, extremely well equipped in all ways. We so appreciated not having to rush out for supplies such as bread and milk along with many other food items and special treats. The property is ideally located on a bus route and close to convenient shops. A great stay in all ways!

Excellent Apartment

This is a beautiful apartment. It helped make our visit to Brussels comfortable and pleasant. We especially appreciate the owners who were always available if we needed help or suggestions. We greatly appreciate their thoughtfulness and care. We would certainly stay here again when visiting Brussels. We note that the apartment is not right in the center of Brussels so we had to figure out how to get around with public transportation. It took a few tries but we figured it out. We also used Ubers and found them easy to use and inexpensive. It was worth a bit of travel to stay in such a lovely place. We have used VRBO a lot and this has been one of the best apartments we have stayed in.

Excellent Home Away from Home!

Mary is an excellent hostess! I immediately felt at home in this lovely apartment. The location is about a 15 minute bus ride to Bruxelles Centraal. I would definitely stay here again.
