GOODBREAD HOUSE is a delightful place to stay in St. Marys, GA. Historically fascinating, with the décor to match its history, the comfortable home has been tastefully designed and furnished. The GUEST ROOMS all have VINTAGE MOVIE STAR themes. Carol, our HOST, was courteous, knowledgeable and a joy to be with,. On the day we arrived he wore many hats. He had very nice picnic lunches packed for us, before providing golf cart transportation for our excursion to CUMBERLAND ISLAND NATIONAL SEASHORE, which saved us two old folks a lot of walking. On the evening before our departure we had a medical emergency, and Carol’s assistance and caring, as he came to our aid helped the situation tremendously. Tammy, the housekeeper, also wore many extra hats during our stay. Her kitchen assistance, and general housekeeping were efficient with frequent smiles, and good answers to our many questions about the home and the town. Tammy found time to show us the unoccupied guest quarters while performing her duties. I know I have written an extensive review; we enjoyed this outstanding B & B. I was privileged to meet the owner, MARDJA GRAY, before our departure. She had been traveling when we arrived, and I would have liked more time to get to know her and learn about the history of the home from her perspective. I learned from Carol that all of the furnishing and decorating of the home were accomplished by her. She did a BRILLIANT job !

Just got back from a great weekend in St. Marys GA. Goodbread house was wonderful. Very comfortable, quiet and close to ferry to Cumberland Island. Mardja and Carole were great hosts. As the previous review said. They let us use the golf cart to check out the town. The breakfast was tasty. Carole took me to the ferry in the morning. I stayed in the Gabriel and Evangeline room with an ensuite. Very cute ladylike room with clawfoot tub. Wonderful. Highly recommend this place if you come to town..

This B & B has a big heart as does Mardja and Carol and the staff. They are on top of things. We were allowed to use the golf cart, they organized our Saturday tour for us and packed us a lunch...so we wouldnt have to worry about anything, just relax and enjoy. Carol even drove us to the ferry. Could not have been more accommodating. Mardja unexpectedly upgraded our room to a suite, with a most comfortable mattress (Gable & Lombard). We always stay at B&B's when we travel and this is a good one. The breakfast choices are made with love, not to our liking, perhaps because they are authentic southern, but others raved about them. Their heart doesnt stop at humans, this is the first B&B where they allow large dogs. We didnt travel with a dog, but I got to love on 3 large well behaved dogs (at separate times) while we were there. I miss my own dog, so it was a blessing for me. St. Mary's is a lovely getaway, with great restaurants. Had the best Moussaka at the Riverside Cafe.

Cannot comment on other rooms but we stayed in the Bogie and Bacall room and it was not pleasant. The air conditioner was an ancient window unit that was very loud- every time the condenser came on it would jolt us from sleep. There was also a very strange two way covering on the windows of two different doors in the room-kinda creepy

My husband and I had a wonderful visit at Goodbread House. Very comfortable and quiet. Mardja is a wonderful hostess with a great staff. The breakfast was delish as well as the afternoon wine and treats. After strolling around the quaint town of St. Mary's we had a nice dinner nearby. From there we drove to St Simon's and s hesitate to come back to the Goodbread House.

What a real jewel. This B and B was decorated very tasteful. Beds slept great and very quiet. Had a wonderful breakfast and very delightful hostess. We enjoyed the wine on the porch just relaxing before dinner. Peaceful. I would highly recommend. You will not be disappointed

This was my first visit to St. Marys and I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The rooms are lovely, each one with the theme of a famous pair of lovers. My room was the Guinevere and Lancelot, and there are others such as the Gable and Lombard, the Lucy and Ricky, etc. There is a Pirate standing guard on the front lawn of this former ferry Captain's home. Mardja (sp?) was extremely welcoming and the service was great; she arranged for a bagged lunch for my day on Cumberland Island and recommended restaurants. I will stay here again next time I visit this lovely, historic, tiny, and quiet town.

What a darling place, and what darling hosts. We stayed here to catch the early ferry over to Cumberland Island and I just can’t say how happy I was with that decision. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating!!

The Goodbread Bed n Breakfast is a wonderful place to stay in St Mary’s Ga. We have stayed there 3 times and have always throughly enjoyed our time there. Mardja is a wonderful hostess that goes out of her way to make you feel at home and cared for. Her themed rooms are tastefully decorated and the breakfasts are exceptional!! I totally recommend staying there when in St Mary’s 😄

I haven't stayed at a bed-and-breakfast in a very long time. Because my ex-girlfriend child did not like them. I miss the quaint feeling of a bed-and-breakfast. This was a great day. I really enjoyed myself and the people who own the property we're very helpful. I will stay here again in the future. Hopefully I'll have someone with me to share the experience with
