This was hands-down the best hotel experience I've ever had in numerous trips to Europe, thanks to the perfect location and, above all, the hosts who went above and beyond to make my family feel at home. The location is amazing, about half a block from the two central squares in Bruges but on a quiet street. My family had the enormous ground-floor family suite, and when I say enormous, I don't mean only by European standards - this was the biggest hotel suite I have ever seen (I'd told my kids hotel rooms in Europe are smaller than they're used to in the US - they will never believe me after this!). We had more than enough space with two huge bedrooms and a large two-part bathroom (toilet in one room, shower, tub, sink in the other). But here is the best part: I mentioned when booking online that my family is all vegetarian and vegan, and that it looked in photos like their breakfast would be great for us (which it would have been), and that we might ask them for restaurant recommendations. To our amazement, when we headed down to the charming breakfast room the first morning, our hosts had set out the most incredible spread of vegan treats I've ever seen! Chocolate and regular soy milk, cereals, chocolate and fruit spreads, vegan cheese - it was more than I could have ever hoped for (and more than we could possibly eat in the three days we were there, although we did our best!). I was astonished and so impressed that they would do all that for us; it was so generous and thoughtful. The hosts were also great about helping us set up transportation to the airport. I would stay here again without question and cannot recommend it highly enough. We stayed here last spring and I only regret it's taken me so long to write this review!
Just moments from the central attractions of Bruge - it could not be more convenient - but a really peaceful little hotel. Our room was a good size, with a nice en-suite bathroom and comfy bed. I slept like a log. Our room at the top of the house overlooked the courtyard so we could sleep with the window open and no street noise at all. The owners were friendly and we had a lovely breakfast. Note that this is a small hotel in a historic, beautiful and atmospheric building with steep stairs and no lift. I loved it, but if you are looking for hotels with bars, restaurants and elevators this is not for you!
It is a family owned hotel. I felt like home. Great welcoming. Room is just what we needed. Nothing fancy but we had what is needed. Breakfast was good (varied). Very close to city center while not in the busy road. Facing Crown Plaza. Personally I don't find any added value to pay extra charge to stay in Crown Plaza while you can have a local experience in a cozy hotel right next to it. Definitely recommended. Bruges is charming in any case.
I stayed here in August a few years ago and it was delightful. It was in such a perfect location and was so cute and represented the city perfectly! The stairs would be a struggle if you were elderly but overall it was a very pleasant stay with nice staff and near the station to get to the airport. I would definitely stay here again!
We spent three night in this little hotel and will surely return. The location could not have been better, situated in the centre of Bruges close to the Market and main shopping streets and museums. Breakfast was more than adequate and the coffee was good. Our room was very large with chairs, a desk, storage for clothes, and overlooked the pretty little courtyard. It was lovely and warm too. The bathroom was more than adequate and spotless. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room came in most useful, given the outside temperatures,
A warm welcome, comfortable bedrooms, a lovely breakfast, superb location and excellent service and value - there was nothing more we could have asked for during our 3 night stay. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Bruges without a doubt!
Quirky, not too expensive, two streets from the main square, can't recommend highly enough. Our room was in the attic but large and roomy. Ceiling went up into the eaves, bed was probably one of the most comfortable I've slept on. Continental breakfast in the cellars was just right, plenty of choice and lovely atmosphere.
Close to everything in Bruges. They arranged a parking pass for us in a garage outside the town walls, but we could drive into the city to drop stuff off (don't trust your GPS phone here, lots of one-way streets). We had to leave early the next day, and they kindly arranged to have a partial early breakfast for us.
Loved this little hotel/B&B. Rooms were comfortable and a good size, week equipped and tastefully decorated. The location was perfect, 10 metres from the square. Breakfast was really nicely presented with ample selection. Toaster would have been nice. No lift if stairs are an issue. Lovely communal lounge area in the cellar and a court yard when the weather is fine. Highly recommend this place.
Stayed here and posted a review a couple of years ago and was pleased to find that its excellent standards at this family-run hotel had been maintained on our visit in September. The hotel's rooms are well decorated, clean and functional with tea/coffee facilities, TV, phone and en-suite. Breakfast in the vaulted cellar is excellent with a good selection of cooked meats, cheeses, pastries, fruit and yogurt - you can coddle your own eggs!! The Malleberg's USP has to be its proximity to the Burg (50m) and main square (100m) with their attractions of historical buildings, shops, bars and restaurants. If you want to escape the tourist bustle, the hotel has a small inner courtyard garden for relaxation. The underground car park is a couple of hundred metres away.
