We stayed a Friday night at the Treasury Hotel. The rooms were extremely large, well appointed and the bed comfortable. The bathroom also large with great shower pressure. On the downside the bathroom had a step down which could be dangerous if not watching. We felt even though the room was large it just somehow missed on the wow factor and was a bit ordinary. We had room service and the food was excellent. Staff on the reservation desk were not particularly friendly. Concierge staff however were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. All in all a bit of a disappointment.
We couldn’t rate the treasury hotel experience higher enough! We stayed in a parlour room with two little ones. What can I say... spectacular! Even with a rollaway bed the room was huge (pics don’t do it justice). The hotel is lovingly looked after and everything is beautifully set out and taken care of. Concierge staff went over and above to assist us with all our families heavy luggage. The staff and service they provided were amazing in all areas! Room and facilities you just can’t fault. We ordered room service for breakfast and the live that went into the food was clear. The eggs Benedict and potato rosti were the best we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to get back to Brisbane for our next holiday and now will aim to spend more time at the treasury. So central to everything and a stay we will remember for a very long time.
Such a beautiful place! Huge rooms, modern upgrades to bathrooms. We received a 'welcome' cheese and fruit tray which we promptly devoured. Convenient to shopping and restaurants. I would love to stay in this hotel forever. The beds were comfortable, there was a museum across the street, we were within walking distance of the Wheel of Brisbane and other attractions. I wasn't crazy about their toiletries, a bit too perfumed for my taste, but I had my own and everything else was so great I can't complain. The staff there are top-notch when it comes to service. I've rarely been so spoiled as I was at this hotel.
The beds were to die for they were so comfortable. I stayed with my daughter and two grand babies, The Treasury provided every thing we needed. Beautiful rooms. High standard in every way. In-room dining excellent and delicious.
Big rooms, marble bathrooms... opulence of days gone by. Still great hotel with all the high ceiling & feeling of space. Comfy beds, nice shower etc. Well located & we had a great view from the massive balcony. Still got it.
Beautifully maintained building, enormous bedroom, stunning bathroom. Reminiscent of old Singaporean Raffles style. Take me back to the luxury please! Adjoining casino for a little fun - underground pathway just in case it rains!
I reviewed the Treasury Hotel & Casino twelve months ago and a recent stay was just as fabulous. Centrally located in the Brisbane CBD, close to the Queen Street Mall, shops, restaurants and pubs it boasts easy walking access to the South Bank district and public transport. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable and so beautifully restored to complement the historic building that was originally built to accommodate some of the Queensland government's offices. Staff are professional, friendly and efficient and the check-in check-out process is effortless. Truely one of the finest hotels and highly recommended for both private and business travelers.
Not too frantic well laid out in an amazing old building with three restaurants. Had dinner in one of them which was okay but will review that separately. The staff were friendly and helpful and my sister and I both won which is always a bonus!
On Friday on check in I checked in over at the casino side. First problem was the disabled lift not working. While I except problems happen from time to every time I come to the casino at least one lift is not working and sometimes it can be for over a week which is unacceptable. The next problem was the unfriendly service from the person checking us in. Not friendly at all no how was your day, welcome back nothing just a lot of typing away for 5 minutes. He saw I was there with my elderly mother on 2 separate occasions I advised him that had luggage I the boot but he said nothing, just gave us the keys and that was it. No enjoy stay. Just no service. After playing at the casino went over at 7pm to hotel side to go into the room and got up there and king bed. When I had booked was twin booking and they confirmed this the day before check-in at no stage at check-in did the staff member say anything and could see my mother with me. Also no bags in the room. I went down to reception to advise, I was polite and friendly and said while your fault, I wanted a twin room and advised the hotel was full, I said if was told on check-in I would have cancelled my booking and room that we were in could not even fit another bed in. It was then the security staff had then knocked over the vase of flowers and water at the check-in desk. I said I am not happy with this and wanted this to be fixed and that I was her to go the restaurant at the LAB for a birthday. She went back to the see the manager a couple of times and kept typing away its now 15 minutes waiting here let alone were are my bags. She then came out with 2 drink vouchers and some chocolates. While nice gesture as a gold member it was really nothing, but still no apology, the manager came out and said absolutely nothing to me just watched her. Is said at this stage that the person on check-in should not even have a job. I have stayed here 20 plus times. She then told me to go into the restaurant after waiting for so long and would sort out. Still 2 hours later she did not come in and see me nor the manager. I went back at 9.30pm to see what the problem was. She said I have another room for you and they found the bags they just never got them out of the car. Get up to the room at 10pm to find a rollaway bed which is for a child, while I am not tall my feet hang over it and most uncomfortable thing I ever slept on. My mother struggled to get into the bed, it was extremely high stayed here before in the normal twin rooms and beds are not that high, she rang down spoke to same lady and asked for a stool but nothing, then a phone book, nothing her suggestion was that my elderly mother sleep in this small rollaway bed and she had the hide to say that we provided the rollaway complimentary at no stage was my mother rude. She also asked in the morning as I was checking out early and my mother staying for assistance with a wheelchair over to the gold room. She was advised that they can't do that and no wheelchair. Which I know is false. She did get the assistance from 2 lovely security staff. My next problem is that you have not released the pre-auth from my credit card either. I am astounded by the complete lack of customer service and rudeness for a 5 star hotel let along being gold members. The service is just gone way down, I have been in customer service and the travel industry for 20 years and would not recommend this property for service and you talk with other gold and platinum members and they say the same thing. Its a disgrace on how I was treated and my mother. I expect a call and also for a manger to ring my mother and apology to my mother all 3 staff encounters should not have a job or at least get some training as I get better service at 3 star hotels, you get staff to stay at Marriott, Versace for some better training. Even the cleanliness has gone down, the chair in the room had food crumbs all in it. As the LAB restaurant there are far better value and places to eat in Brisbane. The food is over priced even a as gold member you get 20%, your meals come with no sides all extra and taste is just ok. 3 of us ordered salmon all asked for medium rare they all came out medium to well and dry, as it had taken so long and now 9pm only 2 sent it back I just ate mine, nothing offered or taken off, I'd suggest if you want fine dining go the Wallnut at the Royal on the Park down the road. In regards to other places to eat in the casino they have all gone down hill along with service. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the heritage rooms. If you are looking for better service in Brisbane I suggest staying at the Brisbane Marriott and try the executive floor.
Well - I found this review rather difficult. From our arrival - a rather officious front desk female - to others who were first rate and couldn't do more for you - front desk, bar, service, porter and concierge etc. A car park that is quite a way from the hotel - not in real distance but in actual "walking" access. Two lifts, a long tunnel, and some quirky turns. Taxi access is simple and easy. I almost gave a 3 then relented to a 4. It was, after all, rather grand - and very well positioned/located - especially for overseas visitors and out of towners. Close to the mall, and the bridge to the south side. The Casino - sort of - directly across the park. We felt the place grew on you over time - thus the 4 rating. The ability to slip out a side door in to the passing masses. A quiet coffee in the lounge in the morning. Stairwells that got you down quickly. Just the general vibe. So - a 4 it is - maybe next time - if we have a next time - will be a 5. It so reminded us of many of the old hotels in the UK. Not quite shades of Aberystwyth or St Just - but just had that feel. Long windy corridors, fire doors, through which you accessed more rooms, the occasional lift that apparently was left over from the 19th/20th Century ... and very low lighting. In saying this however - it was also quite modern and the room we had was very large which was excellent. I mentioned it was hard to review and these differences made it so. Once you found your feet it was quite easy to find the best way to exit the Hotel and be in the City proper in minutes. The car was still 2 lifts and a good walk away. Our room was huge - which I like. Absolutely no view. Very high ceilings and a large bathroom - again - excellent. Lighting was poor - plenty of lamps etc - but no real "light". The room felt quite "dark" at all times. We also had the misfortune to have "jack-hammers" going outside our side of the Hotel - starting at around 7am in the morning !!! We had no idea what they were doing - or whether they were connected to the Hotel or not. Maybe a simple note in the room would be appropriate. We had a useful fridge - which we used - much to the dismay of our "friend" on the front desk. "No - you cannot do that" she told me when I mentioned it. She'd been telling me I would have to pay for using any of the drinks from the bar - and moving them would create problems. I advised her we had put some things in - eg water. None was provided free. She seemed horrified by this. I could not believe she did not know Australians would use the fridge in this way. As there were no ice machines we got it from the bar from a VERY friendly and helpful young man. Our fridge had no device for making ice - although it had an ice box area. The shower was awful - another of these so-called water saving devices that give you a poor shower. A "rose" that spread the water out in a circle that really did not do the job properly. We were also offered a daily paper which did turn up every morning. No extra charge as in other Hotels. An excellent coffee machine in the room and they were clean and tidy. A great safe for the goodies - with a device to lock them which we found so much better than the old combination method. The beds were very good - comfortable and a good sleep. TV had all most us would need. Wi-Fi was atrocious. Instructions seemed easy but did not always come to fruition. Location was excellent. Barely a step to the main shopping precinct. And restaurants, cafes, pubs all around. Most ethnic types were covered - Japanese, Korean, Irish, English etc. A lovely area to sit and rest by the foyer and easy access to most sides of the Hotel. . Casino - for those who gambled - fairly close as well. We checked the Casino out but left a tad disappointed. Perhaps our many visits to Vegas had developed our tastes in this area. It seemed dowdy and lacking in excitement. One issue we found not so good was the fact our door did not have a chain lock on it. We were in the room one morning and had a man walk in unannounced - without even a knock. He saw us - and left. No explanation other than a simple - sorry - wrong room. We were left wondering who he was and where he was from. A simple chain lock on the door would have prevented this. The Air/con in the room was poor. First day we almost froze so we asked for it to be "warmed" up. Trouble was when this occurred we could not turn it down again at night to sleep. Apparently the "controls" are there to keep you happy - even if they don't work. A bit like at traffic lights. A good ceiling fan proved the answer - but A/c should have been better in this class of Hotel. Check out was perfect. Our "friend" clearly did not work on Friday mornings and we were dealt with efficiently and with charm and a smile. The bar service was also excellent. One tip - try to be in Brisbane on a Wednesday to experience the markets. Good food and a lovely scene. Barely 200 metres from the Hotel. Closes at around 5-6pm but still time for a kransky and beer. Also - if you have a few hours - slip down to the river - mall side of the bridge - and take the City Hopper ferry for a 1.5 hour FREE cruise. Make sure you do actually get on the Hopper and not a normal ferry/Cat. Will we be back - not sure. We have stayed at a few Hotels in Brisbane and it will be a tough choice.
