Pandanus Palms Holiday Resort

Nice tidy comfortable unit. No ceiling fans, but portable fans were adequate. Plenty of crockery and cutlery. Had to drive to beaches but that wasn't really a problem. Interesting sights. Pool was great. Had dinner at the bowls club, got a courtesy bus, food and prices very reasonable. Locals very friendly. Great op shop at Dunwich. All in all, an enjoyable time.

We have stayed in many locations on Straddie but always seem to come back to Pandanus Palms for the views and the convenience. Although not new many of the units are refurbished and have that nice beach style. Pay the extra for the sensational views from the front units which also offer the living downstairs and sleeping up. Last visit the kangaroos were grazing on the front lawns each morning. Love the idea of the pool, tennis court, bar and fabulous restaurant outside your door. Coupled with the attentive hosts who are really helpful this is a great place to stay. You do need a car but the hotel and bowling club both offer courtesy bus pickups and dropoffs if you want to enjoy a meal and a drink there. A great place to relax and chill.

This resort is a long way from the beach, although the view is great. Need a car to get to the beach unless you like walking up very steep hills. Our unit wasn't very clean and outdated. The doona cover hadn't been washed and smelled of other peoples sweat and had blood stains. The check in woman was abrupt and didn't seem to care. Must have got her on a bad day or she needs a holiday herself. Other guests are very close so there is alot of noise when kids are there and smokers on their balconies invading your space. Next visit to Straddie we will stay elsewhere.

We took the punt of a very cheap deal and, with another couple, went to Stradbroke Island for 5 nights. Its on our doorstep in the Redlands (just south of Brisbane, Queensland and the ferries - vehicular and passenger flyers - go from Cleveland), but like many locals, we seldom go there. We were not disappointed. The Pandanus Palms Resort took care of booking the ferry for us and was very helpful in informing us of the various rates depending on the time of day we chose to make the crossings. We were in a two bedroom villa. Sleep down, live up. All very neat and tidy and with views out over the lower buildings to the ocean. Could have sat and watched it all day! Very comfy beds. There was a discount for the restaurant included but we didn’t utilise it; there was also a cocktail bar that served small entree/share type meals. The pool was lovely and there was a free courtesy bus to the bowls club for Tuesday Roast Dinner Night (a huge roast meal for only $12). There were plenty of DVD’s in reception to chose from, $2 a night - we did manage one but the rest of the time preferred to walk the coastal tracks or read a book with the sound of the ocean in the background. A wonderful relaxing ‘island time’ break away. The only draw backs were: The lack of en-suite (it is over 30 years old so they are excused) The previous occupants hadn’t washed the pots and pans very well or the coffee plunger We did attack the window sills under the louvre shutters in the dining room and clean them No air con, just ceiling fans ( thank goodness for the ocean breezes) Distance from beaches if no transport of your own. Although a high wall separated us, cigarette smoke form next door balcony forced us to move back inside. All in all A Okay.

For a relaxing break or extended holiday Pandanus Palms is perfect. Judy, the resort manager, was most welcoming and also a wealth of knowledge on the local area. Unit 21 was well appointed with fantastic attention to detail. The ocean view from the balcony was great, as was viewing a night storm across the sea. I didn't access the restaurant but from what I saw, it was very popular. I look forward to revisiting Pandanus Palms and highly recommend the resort. A place to kick back and relax!!!!

This was a last minute booking but Judy, the manager, was very helpful in finding a unit to suit us. We had a three bedroom ocean view unit. It was clean though looking a little tired, but that didn't detract at all from our overall comfort. The location is pretty good as you have the wonderful view and the fabulous Whales Way restaurant (must visit). Another bonus is if you want to leave your car, the pub and bowling club run courtesy bus services on certain days. I would certainly stay here again, especially with the smiling customer service which makes for a wonderful introduction to a great holiday.

We were very disappointed in our accomodation the unit was old and dirty. We had to wash everything before we used it. Blinds were covered in dust .Curtains were ancient, the Ken Done placemats were filthy. The unit was so hot and only had pedestal fans. Our feet were black from the dirty floors so wore shoes inside. The exhaust fan in the bathroom squeaked and was really dusty. I cut my arm on the broken door latch on the sliding door to the bathroom. there was only one mirror in the unit in the bathroom and the lighting was awful .We gave a list of things we thought needed attention. Hope it is passed on to the owners . Should be ashamed for charging rent .

Clean and comfortable with all essential equipment on hand in furnished appartment ! Beautiful views and a lovely restaurant on site to enjoy a sundowner cocktail.Enjoyed so much we have re-booked for next month !

We've been coming to Pandanus Palms Resort annually for a quite a number of years and use it as a great family and friends get together over the Christmas break. All units are either 2 or 3 bedrooms self contained and very well appointed. If you like prefer great beach & water views - suggest getting a 'beach & ocean view' down the front rows although most of the other units do have views of the ocean. Judy and Allen (managers) are always very helpful and the resort facilities makes it comfortable for all ages. There's also a great restaurant (Whale's Way) that we've enjoyed great cocktails with ocean views. Never had a chance to have dinner at Whale's Way but heard it's really good.

Pleasant good value. Undergoing an up grade so we picked up a great deal. Not an easy walk but we brought a car any way. Nice easy parking restaurant tennis and pool. Little shop. All you could expect
