We rented 3 rooms..two were passable but my room was old, dark, musty and smelled of mold. The AC looked as if had been there for at least 15 yeas of rough ware and it didn't work. I asked for another room and was given a room upstairs and as far away from the stairs as possible. I am handicapped and getting my luggage up the stairs with my cane was extremely difficult. Even the better two room lacked amenities . The over all appearance is one of neglect
We've stayed here a number of times over the past few years, and haven't had a complaint yet. The price is reasonable, and the staff is friendly and responsive. We will stay here again in the future when we attend the Round Top show.
Okay here's the deal. First let me say - Round Top Antique Show is a huge event and every type of lodging within 50 miles raises their rates, however this place takes the prize. I'd reserved a room for $84 a night for four nights - regular price for the same room any other time is $49. We came in a day EARLY and the management insisted I had to book through BookiT and the price was $94. What? The Antique show doesn't open for another two days. As I walked through the "courtyard" - i.e. the grassy area where the pool once was - some men were cooking on a grill. They invited me to shre their squirrel (yes, indeed it was squirrel) - I declined. There are a number of permanent residents living there paid by a charitable organization. What this means for travelers is that they hang around outside their rooms, smoking, visiting and playing music. Some of the men were, frankly, intimidating. The last night of our stay I was awakened by loud voices outside my door - turned out to be the police talking to the man next door about someone breaking into the vehicles. Our room was the "handicap" room meaning you can use the vanity for a desk in front of the toilet - tall people would have to sit sideways. Light bulbs were missing and the furnishing were sparce. The good news is that the front desk clerks were extremely helpful and honest. The room was clean and was cleaned everyday. We would NOT have stayed had there been any other option.
The first thing you notice about the room is the big cracks in the countertop of the sink. Has a tissue holder that can't hold any tissues (which there weren't any). No microwave as listed in the wyndham website. Didn't use the a/c or heater so don't know about it. The bed and tv were good. Breakfast was ok, would be nice if they could add some bananas or some fruit along with the toast, cereal and waffles. Nice to have the mexican restaurant next door so able to walk there.
I can say this motel is by far cleaner than most cheap motels. They have the sweetest worker's that enjoy their job. The owners are very nice and live on property. If there's anything wrong with your room the owner hisself will come by and fix it at anytime of the night. I haven't seen any bugs here and the rooms are clean. You can't ask for anything better for the price.
This place doesn't even deserve one star. This I's the nastiest motel I have ever stayed in. There were holes all in the sheets and blankets, the bathroom had black hairs all in the tub. When I got out of the shower to dry off there was makeup or something all over the towels. There was a spider crawling in my bed and the ceiling had mold and mildew on it.. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!Not to mention the Indian lady that owns it was very rude about everything!!!So very poor customer service!!
I really don't understand how this motel got into Wyndham Rewards. This motel is way below Knights Inn standards. This motel is really outdated. The furniture is really old and scratched up. The carpeting was stained. Mattress on the bed is quite hard. Television was an older model. At least, the wifi signal was strong.
The beds the best part and its not very sturdy. The sheets looks clean but are itchy. The room doesn't smell very good. the towels are extremely small. the TV doesn't get any stations. Its hard to get to the hotel if you have never been here before. This place is old and run Down don't stay here we would be getting a different hotel if we were paying the regular price.
The tree clogged our sewer line again. plumber could not make it out to fix it in the night. hotel had rooms, and we needed working bathrooms. two rooms three people. in the morning we found out: one room, the TV didn't work at all. the other room the air conditioner looked like it had been in a fight, and there was no cold water in the shower (shower head was loose too- few twists and that was fixed) 'well if you had told us when you first arrived (11:45pm or so!) we could have done something. but, now we can't adjust the price at all because you are checking out, if you were coming back we could give you a discount then' on the plus side, the rooms and furnishings looked old but were well cleaned. the housekeeping staff certainly seems to care!
CONS: The Room reeked of bug spray and there was a dead cockroach on the carpet under the desk. Walls and ceilings showed patching from previous water leaks. Patches were shrunken and cracked showing the inside of the wall and ceiling in both the main room and the bath room. The Bathtub faucet dripped constantly and had been doing so for so long, there was a permanent 'rust stain' on the tub and the (2) bath towels supplied were so thin and small, that they should NOT qualify as bath towels. Tile and grout around tub were moldy or dirty. The room's Carpeting was so filthy, we wore socks (which were black by checkout) when walking about in the room. The mattress felt as if we were sleeping on a box springs NOT a mattress and the 'couch' (I use that word loosely as it was so stained and time worn) had recent sex stains on the cushions. If EVERYTHING else in Brenham had not been booked, we would not have stayed here and will NEVER do so again. Now.....for the PROS: The TV and refrigerator worked well and the desk manager in the A.M. shift was very polite and stopped what he was doing to go to the kitchen and make a fresh pot of coffee for us as he chased his own employees out so that we could enjoy the last two plastic wrapped buns and a cup of coffee. There are many choices of places to stay overnight in Brenham, this is not one. Wyndham Hotels Group lends their name to this place and other than for a profit margin,I don't know any other reason why they would risk their name and reputation on this establishment.
